"She doesn't have Appraisal, but her stats are identical to her sisters… how did she notice that I did something?" Sigma furrowed his eyebrows.
That was weird… but in the end, Sigma assumed that she didn't know exactly what he did, but she knew that she did something. It didn't matter that much, but Sigma realized that he had to find a way to hide his skills if others could access the system as well and to Appraisal.
"Don't look at her too much…" Sabrina said while furrowing her eyebrows.
"I am just returning the stare… not that is my problem, but… never mind," Sigma said and then shook his head.
Sigma had better things to do than point to the flaws of others, be they intentional or not. For a girl of her age to be unable to interact with any male aside from her brother was pretty harsh already, and unless she wanted to use her sister as a shield for the rest of her life, she had to deal with her own problems.
"Anyway, let's get to sleep… I am considering advancing and attacking the enemies before sunrise. What do you guys think?" Ed asked.
"We aren't morning people… but I can see the plan working," Sabrina replied while Eclair was nodding. "Still, we need to be careful, and we don't know how their behavior will change after today."
"Even so… the odds will be in our favor if we surprise them again," Sigma said. "Again, with two people attacking, we will have more firepower. This time, I will make a lot more arrows overnight, and that should do the job against a few hundred."
"Well, you didn't miss that much until now, so I guess it is possible," Ed said while nodding. "Let's wake up one hour before sunrise and then hide in one of the rocks ahead and wait for the enemies."
After making their plans, the group had dinner and slept. Eclair didn't have any attack power, so she couldn't stay on guard duty and defend the camp in case something happened, so the other three worked on that.
The group began to move before sunrise, and it took a while for them to properly wake up… only Sigma and the horses were wide awake once they began to move. At the same time, the horses were carrying under them several quivers that Sigma made using the feathers filled with earth arrows. They were a bit heavier, but the horses didn't like the ice ones since they made the temperature get colder around them.
Once they found one of the rocks that were inside the enemy's perimeter, Sigma readied two hundred earth arrows around for him to be able to pick them up as soon as possible… he didn't have the chance to check his new firing speed. Still, he was quite eager to test it.
The other three began to wake up when the sun started to rise. While they had a decent plan, things still could go wrong, and they might find themselves surrounded. This time, they only had plans A and plan C since Sigma doubted that the monsters would let plan B take place again.
After waiting for twenty minutes, they saw the massive number of enemies spreading around the area. Sigma furrowed his eyebrows since he clearly saw them coming from the exact same spot and then spreading themselves like a net… Still, something was off. Ed said that the base of the enemies was supposed to be several kilometers ahead. Still, considering how they were spreading, that didn't seem to be the case. Regardless, that was a problem for later…
As soon as the group of monsters entered their range, Sigma and Sabrina showed themselves and began to attack… before the beasts finally could realize what was going on, twenty of them were already falling from the sky. Even Sigma was surprised at his own firing speed… it practically doubled. His movements had gotten better as well, to the point that he was already aiming his next arrow even before nocking it since he could visualize the path that the arrow would take.
All the enemies that were supposed to guard the area around that specific rock were killed in a matter of seconds. Still, then the other groups began to approach from the sides, and now the group had to deal with the concentrated fire.
"Take the left side," Sigma said while turning to the side and firing his arrows nonstop.
The beasts didn't even have the chance to get any close, thanks to Sigma's attack speed. However, he was starting to feel his right arm getting heavier. When he checked his stamina, Sigma realized that his stamina was dropping insanely fast.
"I guess moving at my top speed also consumes my stamina… even if I am not running…" Sigma furrowed his eyebrows.
Sigma slowed down the firing speed a bit, and that gave enough chance for the enemies to fly around the rock and then find the whole group. At the same time, Sigma could hear some impacts coming from behind and confirmed that Ed was getting busy with countless attacks. Still, their frequency soon ended since Sigma also finished dealing with the enemies on his side, and Sabrina wasn't holding back.
When they killed around one hundred enemies, they noticed something off… the other Verdiris were retreating since they didn't cause any damage to the group, and Sigma confirmed that they retreated completely toward their base.
