A deafening silence filled the whole underground room. Caitlyn didn't die. She fell on her back like a ragdoll and stared at Magnus in a daze.
She was in shock and didn't realize she was paralyzed.
"..."
Magnus stared at her in silence. He didn't manage to kill her and would need to punch her a few more times.
"Your intelligence is your downfall," Magnus said.
He walked out of the cage and grabbed the sword kept beside the door. He walked back inside and unsheathed it right before Caitlyn.
"Please... She can still survive and heal. Kill me instead!"
Jurena prostrated from within her cage. Her pride and haughtiness from before were nowhere to be found.
"Death."
Magnus was emotionless. Any threat to him in this world should be eliminated immediately. His lenience was the reason for his capture in his previous life, after all.
If his 'friend' didn't rat him out, he would still be alive there. Thus, no one should be allowed to know his secret in this world. It was all for himself.
*Splash*
"CAITLYN!"
Blood splattered all over Caitlyn's cage. Blood pooled out of her neck and spread out.
Magnus walked out of the cage. He briefly glanced at Jurena. She was grieving as she stared at Caitlyn's lifeless body.
In the end, Magnus was still a criminal. He realized that he had never changed. Blood would always be on his hands.
"*Sigh* There goes my plan to change."
Magnus shook his head. He sat down on the chair and stared at Caitlyn's dead body.
He needed to be even more careful. Since he killed one already, it shouldn't hurt for him to start training them as he was supposed to.
That was right. Magnus chose to abide by this world's rules. He would live for himself and himself alone. Once he received his reward from Farqos, he would leave.
"You're a monster! I asked you to kill me! I even prostrated and lowered my pride!" Jurena shouted with deep hatred.
"I won't mind killing you too. You've been very noisy."
Magnus glared at her. Killing one was bad, but killing two made no difference.
"Kill me! I don't want to become a slave!"
She stood up and shook the cage's bars. Her face was filled with grief and tears.
"You know what, I will start training you first instead," Magnus said and stood up.
He walked back to the bookshelf and opened the book. He read from start to finish for half an hour.
"Ahahaha! So I already did the starting steps by killing Caitlyn."
It was documented in the book that killing one of the slaves would deal a significant scar to their minds which would make it easier to train them to become obedient slaves.
"No wonder Ava and Rivia were like that."
It all made sense why the two were so afraid of going against Farqos.
"And out of twelve, I only need two to survive. I don't need all of you."
Magnus' words caused a chill to run down the spines of the Cynthian slaves. He looked each of them straight in the eyes.
"I will start with you!" Magnus grinned like a maniac as he stared at the grieving Jurena.
"You won't train me! Kill me! Kill me instead!"
"The more you say that the more I don't want to kill you," Magnus replied.
He took a piece of black cloth and stood before her cage. He entered inside. He expected her to attack him, but she stood there without saying anything.
She slowly closed her eyes, ready to accept her death.
"As I said, I won't kill you."
Magnus went behind her and tied the black cloth on her head as a blindfold. She didn't resist and let him do it.
Caitlyn's death affected her mental state greatly. She didn't even think of trying to outsmart him.
Magnus also tied her hands behind her back to keep her from removing the blindfold on her own. Once that was done, Magnus left the cage and locked it.
"Where are you going?! Why did you cover my eyes if you aren't going to kill me!?"
"You'll know soon."
Written in the book was to break their minds. And this was one of those ways. He entered the cage of the crying woman earlier. She huddled on the edge of her cage, far away from him.
"Please don't kill me..." she whispered fearfully.
They were all acting strong together. But now that deaths were before them, they were scared and pleading for their lives.
These women were sheltered from the harsh reality of the world. They expected that things would always go their way.
"Ah!"
Magnus kicked her.
"I won't kill you but beat you until you're at your last breath!" Magnus shouted.
The blindfolded Jurena shivered when she heard Magnus' words. She couldn't see what was happening, so she could only imagine what he was doing to her.
"Ah!"
Magnus kicked the woman again.
"Stop! Don't make her suffer!"
The blindfold only made Jurena anxious.
"I will make her suffer more since you said that!"
Everything that Magnus was saying was according to the manual. It was a tactic to break down Jurena.
But just as Magnus was about to kick the woman again, the steel door clanged and opened.
He turned around and saw Crono entering. He looked around and nodded his head in satisfaction when he saw Caitlyn's dead body.
"Good. The Young Master is calling for you. I will take care of things here," Crono said.
"I was just getting to the good part," Magnus replied and rolled his eyes.
"Ahaha! You're more violent than you seemed to be."
Crono was impressed at Magnus' performance. His sadism was perfect for training maids.
"I killed her because she was annoying," Magnus lied with a straight face.
"That's fine. It's part of the procedure."
Crono didn't care about Caitlyn one bit. She wasn't the first Cynthian woman to die here.
"Go. The Young Master has something urgent he needs help with."
Magnus nodded his head. He looked at the Cynthian slaves and saw the relief on their faces.
'You're all in for a much worse experience,' he thought to himself before leaving the underground room.
