Head Priest POV
"Find her." These idiots can't even find a small female child. I've ordered all the priests to find her. She is the only female that entered the halls of the temple, it shouldn't be this difficult to find her. I too start to track her scent to find her. I end up tracking it to the great tree.
"Have you seen your chosen one O great lord!" I almost beg the great tree. The tree once saved my life in my younger days and I have devoted myself to it since then. Then one day a female comes to the temple with a dead baby begging someone to save it. The great tree actually chose to bless a dead baby with great power over me. I've been a loyal servant for most of my life and it chose a dead child over me. I was furious but kept a calm demeanor in front of the others. Once I saw the child up close, dangerous thoughts ran through my mind. This child will have time to grow into its power and have a deeper connection than I could ever imagine, maybe this isn't so bad after all. On the surface, it looked like he was smiling down at the picturesque baby but really, he was smiling at his sinister new plan for his brighter future.
The tree spoke in a calm tone, "She was here for a moment then left. Did you scare her off? She is still a child, you must be patient with her or she won't cooperate well with you." The Great Tree suggests to the Head Priest.
"I see that now. I'm not used to talking with small female children. I didn't mean to scare her. I must not have explained things right." Sighing, I run a hand through my hair.
"I'll keep looking for her. If you sense her anywhere could you please let me know so I can return her to her family safely?" Looking down I take off through the hallway I first saw her standing. She said she got lost last time, I hope she's alright, she's still needed in more ways than one.
The other priest and I looked all over the temple for the rest of the day and most of the night. Even if I selfishly wanted her, most of the priests here knew how special she was, and I would be looked down on if I don't find her. For my reputation, I had to find her.
I returned for the night to get some sleep. If she did find her way out she'll most likely return home. I'll go there first thing in the morning. With that thought in mind, I close my eyes and go to sleep.
