I walked over to the pool. I took my clothes off and got in to clean myself off. Its been a long day and I really needed this.
"What can I do once I make the furniture I need to make this place more homey?"
"Well I want you to become a witch doctor."
I looked at the root of Nona not really believing what she said. "I thought females couldn't do anything but give birth. Are you sure about this?"
"I know it will be challenging for you but it will be of great use to you if still want to be an independent female."
"How?"
"When you are on your own what would you do if you fell and cut your leg?"
"Umm...you put a leaf on it."
She laughs at me." We have time to learn my dear, but no. You smash up a plant called Star Leaf then apply it to the wound. It stops the bleeding and keeps it from getting infected. Depending on the location and size of the wound will depend if you also need to wrap it to keep the medicine on. Star Leaf is used mainly to stop bleeding. You can use Zazzel berries for infections. You can also boil them and drink the water soaked in Zazzel berry juice, so it gets into the body more effectively. These to will be your most used plants for heal and eating."
"You can eat them too?"
"Of course. They're a plant."
"What does boil mean?" I remember the word she used and still couldn't understand what she meant.
"When you heat up water and it starts to bubble, that is at the stage called boil. And yes, you use fire to heat up the water."
I gave the root a wide-eyed look. "I can't use fire, only grownups can."
"You can keep the fire controled by putting rocks in a circle around it."
"Wow you know so much about this." I was amazed by everything Nona knew.
"I've been alive for a long time and gathered a lot of information. My roots reach the entire valley and carry the voices of others in the wind I make. Right now your brother is close. You should get out and dressed and get to bed so he doesn't worry."
"You're right Nona, thanks." I get out and realize I don't have anything to dry off with.
"Lyria I'm coming in." Ryker pretty much runs in almost completely out of breath. "I brought you some clothes and the sheep skin you use to dry off after your bath."
He pulls the things out of his sack and hands it to me. He starts to laugh when he sees how right on he was about the clothes and wool skin.
"I already had some clothes I just forgot the wool skin, huff." I take everything from his hands, dry off and get ready for bed.
"Dad was telling me how you still need to go back to the temple. He said since the head priest is one of the higher ups, we need to set a good example and listen. I told him it wasn't right to you and how no one should make you do something you don't want to. I'll protect you and let you stay here for as long as you like." This is why I love my big brother. He always has my back. Hes one of the main people I don't want to leave. "I'll sleep next to you in my beast form, so you'll have nothing to worry about."
He pats my head and transforms into a jaguar and lays down next to my bed. I put my hand out to touch him and fell asleep stoking the big purring cat.
