Today is the day I turn 5 and at any moment I should feel intense pain and then I pass ou., I'll be able to connect spiritually with my beast and awaken anew. At least that's what my dad told me. Even though I'm prepared for it, I'm still scared. The Tree told me if I sit, close my eyes, take deep breaths and focus on something like smell or hearing it helps. The Tree calls it meditating.
I sat all day and waited but I was losing my patience. The night was fast approaching and still nothing. Dad made me go in and eat.
"Come on Lyria, it's time to eat. Can't sit out there all day on an empty stomach." I know he's worried about me, but I just wanted my spirit beast.
I give a big sigh stand up, dust myself off, and go in to eat. I still sit on dads' lap while we eat but he's feeding me instead since I'm not really in the mood. My mood seemed to really affect everyone else. No one is talking. I look up and I can see them glancing at me. I quickly finish my food and go to my room. I climbed out of the window and run to my secret place.
I cry all my frustration out. I want to be like my dad and brothers, why can't they see that? With my beast, I'll be freer to do what I want.
"Why?" I whisper it quietly to myself repeatedly.
I didn't know I was followed till I felt warm arms around me. Ryker pulls me in for a tighter hug and I let him. I cry even harder now. I don't even know why but it takes a while to calm back down again.
"Why are you here." My voice is a little horse from all the crying.
"You're not one who gets easily upset. You hardly ever cry ever since you were born, so to see you so upset. I felt that you probably wanted to be alone. I was about to go for the night watch patrol when I saw you running from the house and followed. This is a nice den." He says the last part while looking around. He then puts his hand on my face in a reassuring gesture. "You're our little female whom we care a lot about. Let your beast come to you when it wants not when you want it to. Don't give up now." He tries to reassure me.
"I'm not giving up I just got so upset that I felt like all I could do is cry," I told him honestly with a pout. He gets up and starts to look around. He walks up to the pool of water and puts his hand in.
"You know I heard if you put milk and honey in warm water and soak for a bit. It makes your skin smoother and fairer. Like mom says beauty is power, so even if you don't have your spirit beast yet if you become more beautiful, you'll become more powerful." He winks at me while smirking. I smile back. His ability to make light of situations still makes me laugh. Any female would be lucky to have Ryker as a mate.
I walked up to Ryker and stand beside him, even if he is twice my height. "Thanks for following me and making me feel better."
