I don't know what to do it seems like the forest is on fire because of their enormous numbers surrounding me. I don't know how to explain what I feel right now, should I be afraid or be excited because no one knew how they look like. It's because no one survived after looking at them, almost some of them died the same way on how I shall die today. They fell on a cliff, a fairly deep cliff. While others who might had survived is living on another place, somewhere far.
One person was lucky enough to share what happened to him when he followed a Butatto. This guy was on his way home when just like me, he was hoping for a light, then he followed the light, then he keeps on following it, until he lost strength.
Apparently he had been following the light for a long time until he got tired and just woke up the next day. And surprise!
He was already on another province, luckily he can speak the people's language there. He was lent help. The distance would have taken two days' worth of walk but he walked it only for a night just because he followed the Butatto.
Back to my situation, I don't know what to think of now. I don't want to see my lifeless body in a cliif, just then…
"LITO, BRING DOWN A LIGHT OVER HERE.IM NEAR THE CREEEEEKKKKKKK!!!"
Shouted by the person who is at the foot of the mountain. I know Lito, I've heard that name and his voice is familiar as I had been playing with him. But that loud voice, its unfamiliar to me. That person's thunderous, mighty shout may have reached the ear of Lito perfectly clear. And it reached us, including my faceless predator who is perhaps facing me.
They were shaken by the shout, that one by one they started to disappear and they left me. Here I am once again in my own lonely dark world. But maybe I won't be, I just need to follow Lito.
I followed the sound of the creek, because just like that person said, he is near a creek. I slide myself down, I just don't have enough energy. The branches are trapping me but they don't hurt that much. I'm feeling invincible yet invisible today. I stopped listening to the sound of the creek for I was led now by the sound of that person's hum. It was filled with fear yet calming for a creature like me who had just possibly escaped death. I don't want to freak him out, that's why I just stayed close, but not close enough for him to see me. He suddenly turned and looked at me. Did he see me?
I've never seen him here before but I'm sure he has that familiar vibe; he looks a lot like Lito but with matured feature. His older brother, I suppose. For a moment my eyes shone like the shiny stars above when I saw a fire-like light coming towards us, but then…
I want to shout and warn that person, it's not Lito. It's them again. I'm sure its them as I never heard a footstep, or stones being disturbed, or even a rush of breath because the path is quite steep. I can literally feel their cold breath now even though they are holding a fire. To my amazement they evaporated like bubbles the moment this person spoke a word. I didn't recognize what kind of word or what language he used, but its powerful. I've never seen anything like that. And with that, he could have seen them. But no one has ever seen them, it means, he felt them. He can feel their presence. I bet he felt my breath also but just chose to ignore me.
A tick of a clock passed by and Lito came to our rescue, thankfully. I thought no one would come, but he came so I think we are safe now. I only noticed he arrived when his familiar voice came ringing to my ear. I've never seen him coming down because his light is quite weak. I've realized their fire-like light is very far from a human made fire.
Lito approached us with a bright smile, even brighter than the fire's light. He is happy indeed, very happy. They both smiled and gave each other a shy nod. It's an awkward encounter and warm meeting at the same time.
