Juliet, is as beautiful as before now. I don't know her real name, I just called her Juliet because her love story is a painful as the famous Romeo and Juliet story. I heard this story when I traveled for a little while.
Our Juliet and her lover were even dubbed by the people as the "Romeo and Juliet of Benguet" the only difference is that they used a pesticide. Juliet did the honor first because she can't keep the expectation of people, she is tired of hearing stories about her that she didn't even knew herself.
They were a happy couple, Juliet and her lover; that's what I heard. They were good people but people were not good to happy people. People made stories about them until it killed Juliet, she locked herself in their room than drank a cup of pesticide.
Later on, her lover came back from work and found the door locked inside which is very unusual. With already a bad sign, he calmed his heart; and continued to roam around their room. She was found in her finest dress, and Juliet was just like asleep even though she was now in her eternal sleep. She knew she would be leaving their place forever that's why she cleaned everything.
She fixed everything and prepared everything, but what she was not prepared by, is that her lover followed her. It was said that she just kept quiet, she can't speak, because she never thought that her lover would follow her. She was happy to be wait with her but Juliet in her peaceful form is already an invitation to her lover to be with her.
He wholeheartedly and calmly drank the remaining pesticide that she left. They loved each other but loved each other too much that even in death they followed each other.
Juliet interfering, is a clear sign to me that she is thus the strongest whisperer here. She was able to physically held Lita's hand, which we can't as whisperers. She was able to stop her also because she has still her heart, she has the heart to tell others; that taking one's self is a selfish move and not so worth it.
Because she doesn't want Lita to feel how she felt, for even in death, they were not honored by the people. Others might had thought that it was right or common sense to bury them together but no. The elders of the people didn't even want them to have a wake, they were buried in a rush and not even together. For it is part of the people's tradition, suicide is a taboo and the man, or Juliet's lover should be buried in his own place or province, as he was a stranger in their land.
Truly, they loved each other but too much.
So I think that's the reason why Juliet stopped Lita, because just like her, her soul would be forever wandering and her soul will turn into malevolent spirit.
Yes, it is believed by the people and its really true in our case, if you died by drowning you will become an angry spirit in the river where you died then later on you want nothing but to do harm to others who just want to chill in that river. People who died unnaturally also like sickness will keep on going back to their family, they will keep on bugging them, they will keep on hunting them, they will keep on asking for animals to be offered to them; that they can't even touch.
I've witnessed it several times, as we would always be invited in situation like this, because people would keep on mentioning us, they would keep on calling us in their prayer. We can actually clearly hear the shaman's prayer even if he is just whispering. I don't want to address their invite but my fellow whisperers would go together so I would follow too.
However, later on in my life I observed how malicious the other spirits are, they would cause sickness to their own family if they felt like they are too lonely or they felt like they were forgotten.
I sometimes feel compassion and agree with them but it's too cruel I think. Then, there are those out of this world wicked spirit; they would use other people or spirit's face to hurt people. They don't have any reason, any explanation. They just do it because they can, and they want to. However; as for me, I don't know if I can or I might do it, or I have to do it when I could remember something or even anything.
Then, there are those spirits that would cry and wail, their cry can be their bait to fool people who would join them forever. Or there those spirits who were just sad and lonely, sometimes you can feel their loneliness when your heart gets suddenly heavy. They don't harm people but their loneliness could kill their fellow whisperers and fellow unseen beings.
It's weird how I come to know everybody and their everything while I don't know anything about me. I don't remember anything on how I died, I don't even know if I'm a benevolent or malevolent spirit. I knew I had parents, but I didn't know their stories; that could have provided me some insight about my life. But they left me, without any explanation.
Thus I can't even explain my own existence.
After Juliet let go of Lita's hand, her dark cloth of aura came back again and wrapped her whole being. She died peacefully knowing that she loved fully but now that she died she was living as a reminder of those stricken with love or hurt by love I was sore afraid but was still grateful and I might be able to watch how Lita's life will continue. While I wish to continue to live to find out what am I or who I used to be.
