"I'll kill them all!!" Marcelino swore, and he did, after burying his family, he and together with the vengeful demons and humans, whose family wasn't spared in the hunts, fought against the greedy human, which they then called Daemon. However, they were a bit delayed in fighting against them as the demons, who were kind, were also influenced by them, and thus, Marcelino and his army weren't only fighting against humans but against their fellow demons as well.
A year-long war started, those who can't protect themselves were hidden away, while those who decided to fight for peace fought against the Daemons who coveted things that weren't supposed to be theirs. It wasn't easy for them, for those greedy creatures had created a weapon that they took from the demons they killed and used against them. When all seems lost, God, who was angered with how his World and those who lived in it were treated by the Daemons, helped Marcelino by sending him weapons that only those with kind hearts can use.
This resulted in Marcelino and his army winning, the Daemons surrendering under their might, yet there was no celebration, for they lost so many, for it will not bring back their loved ones. The World mourned for a month before they approached God and asked for the world to be renewed and for the weapons that he gave them to be taken away. But he didn't take them and merely hid, stating.
"A Time will come that Daemons will try to rise once more, and when the time comes then these weapons will appear before their proper owner and help you once more!"
The thought of the Daemons coming back made them tremble in fear and anger, which made them accept God's will. And then their God shifted the world, changing its appearance by creating islands, separating with huge bodies of water, yet despite the new islands, most demons and humans decide to live on the mainland, swearing to replace the bad memories with good ones. A few demons decided to live with their own kind, accepting humans that decided to live with them, and settling on the island that satisfies them.
God also created a separate land for the surviving Daemon and cursed them to stay on the island, where they will experience the pain that they cause. The island is quite far away from the mainland or the other islands that were created, a huge sea separated them from the rest and gigantic thorns and rocks block the way towards the island, and they are called the island Cataclysm. Since they were cursed to stay forever, Daemons can't get out nor is anybody that isn't permitted by God himself allowed to enter.
The only way for the Daemons to get out is to remove the curse but God had cursed, had sealed them using a complicated matter that only he knew. But everyone knows that a key is needed to unseal the dreadful creatures, they just don't know what. Yet, despite the peace that they attained, a few demons feared that some humans or their own kin would be turned into daemons once more, and thus God blessed a few demons and humans, calling them saints and saintesses.
Blessed beings that will never be tainted and the ones who will punish the people or demons should have a hint of turning into a Daemon. The Saints and the Saintesses will then remove the darkness in their heart, should they be successful a seal will be put on them so that the darkness will no longer consume them. But if they failed, they will be put on a holy island that God created once more, in hope that the holiness of the island will remove the impurities. If this all fails, they will all then fall put on Cataclysm Island by God Himself.
Everyone then created a temple where the Saints and Saintesses will live, where they shall say their prayers, and where the would-be Daemons will be judged. And while the plan God gave is unstable, especially in the aftermath of the war, the world itself began to heal, and every demon and human moved on, despite the pain in their heart. However, one person didn't move on, and every one pitied him for he was the last of kin, Marcelino.
He watched as those who helped him and he helped, in turn, slowly become happy, as they all decide to travel to the new world God created for them, and avoid Cataclysm Island. To avoid the gazes of the people, he left and went back to his old home, where he tried to kill himself but then God spoke.
"My dear child." He said. "Do you truly desire to kill yourself?"
"I have no one with me! My mate and children were killed!" He shouted gesturing to the area around him.
"Have you forgotten, my child? Your mate will be reincarnated."
"...I don't believe I have the will to live and wait that long…"
"I believe you do." Then God had shone a light at a specific spot of his burned house, to which he frowned and went towards. The remaining phoenix dig through the burned debris, lifting the logs and when he was done, he paused, for there on the floor is a hole filled with ashes, a hole that was shining slightly and resonating a soft thumping sound.
Hands trembling slightly, Marcelino dug through the ground softly and shakily exhaled when he saw an egg, and not just any egg, a phoenix egg.
"What…"
"Your mate's last gift for you," God stated, answering his silent question.
"But… I didn't know…" He answered back but then he remembered that months before his wife's death, was the announcement of a new hatchling about to be born. He remembered being delighted for it's been decades since the last time his mate laid an egg and a year since the hatch of his twins.
For a phoenix birth cycle is different, the female phoenix will be pregnant with a fertile egg and then once that egg is formed, the mother will they laid it, either as a phoenix or human, and brought to a special location that was specifically for phoenix that has the exact amount of warmth that was needed for their eggs. At that location, both parents will wait for the eggs to hatch, which will take years as inside the egg their child will form into a phoenix and slowly evolve into a human, the form that they will come out from.
"Your brave mate had forgotten about her pregnancy and had laid the egg when you were away before the attack happened. She hid it before they could find it and was about to do the same with your children but…" God explained, and Marcelino exhaled shakily at the thought that his mate gave birth without him beside her, which made him guilty, but then happy.
"A gift from her…" He muttered and began to gather the ashes that surrounded the egg and put it in one of his clothes and laid the egg inside. "He's strong to survive for so long…"
The blond-haired phoenix closed his eyes and imagined the image of his mate and their hatchling watching over the egg as he fought in the war for peace. He imaged… no he felt the hand of his mate caressing his cheek as well as their children.
"Live my child… and your mate will be with your and your children," God said before leaving the new father alone. Marcelino nuzzled the egg gently before standing up and leaving, disappearing into the wind, where no one knows where the last two phoenixes are, no one but God.
