Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 - 300 years later

~300 years later~

"That was sad." A soft voice stated, followed by the sound of a book getting close. A young lady was sitting on a chair located beside the bed and was holding the book, looking in the direction where the voice was coming from, smiling at the sight of two boys eyeing the book sadly.

"Is it?" The Lady asked softly, and the boys nodded. "Why do you say so?"

"Because the Phoenix was the one who led them to war but he has no one to help him, especially when he's raising his child." Hearing the response the young woman sighed and moved from the chair and to the bed. She reached her hand out and gently patted the boy with black hair, before doing the same to the one with blond hair, once done, she then moved both of her hands and laid each one of them on the boy's chest, patting them gently.

"You boys promised me that you will be sleeping after I read the history of Grandelious as a storybook." She chided gently and the boys snickered as if it were a joke. "Yet here you are…still awake… and thinking something unreasonable again."

"But mama… you're having a hard time raising us." The blond-haired boy stated, but the woman merely flicked his nose and smiled.

"I'm not, but life is a lot easier with my two kids with me." She stated and went down to kiss each of their foreheads. "Now sleep, we all have an early day tomorrow."

"Okay~" The boys smiled and cuddled with each other and slept, listening to the soft humming their mom is making and soon enough they were asleep. The woman sighed before standing up and heading out of the room, closing the door behind her before heading to her own room. She removed her hair tie and then ruffled her hair as she headed towards her bed before sitting down on it.

Her name is Lucianna, also known as Luci to her family and friends, a bar maiden with curly midnight black hair, with fringes that sometimes cover the left side of her face, warm and bright blue eyes, a slightly pointed nose, and kissable lips, age 23 years old, with a model-like body, fair skin and a mother of two 8 years old twin boys, Asher and Ashish.

Asher is the boy with slightly curly black hair, gray eyes, and slightly tan skin while Ashish is the one with wavy blond hair, blue eyes, and fair skin like hers. Both boys are nearly the same height, with Ashish being two inches taller than his brother, despite being the youngest. At least that is what Lucianna knew, seeing those boys aren't biologically hers, they were entrusted to her by her Father when she was 17 years old and the boys were 2 years old.

It was winter when her Father found the boys shivering at the edge of the town that was leading to the forest, with merely a thin blanket to protect them from the cold, when he was coming home from a rescue mission. He pitied them and decided to bring them home when no one decided to claim the boys after taking them for a few weeks, she and her Father had decided to keep them as family and thus she was called Mom.

Lucianna and her family are living and owned a tavern, with the upper level their sleeping quarters while the lower level is the tavern itself, in a town called Fuoco, which is a coastal town on an island that was created for Dragons, and this island is called Drago. However, Drago is not the main island for the Dragons as this is just an extension island of Dracalis, the main island of the Dragons (they are not the only demon kind that needs an extension island, for other demons and humans need it as well). Yet, despite the island being created for Dragons, they are actually co-existing with humans as well, and this includes Lucianna and her boys.

That's right, in Lucianna's family, it's only her and her adopted children that are humans, for her Father is a Dragon, who adopted her as well when she was merely a baby that he found outside his house, and her Father doesn't have any wife or other family members, so it's just the four of them. And considering that Lucianna didn't feel anything when she turned 18, she is purely human, and not a mix.

Because Humans and Demons co-exist peacefully, it couldn't be a union between the two races couldn't be avoided, and one thing they found out is that when a demon and human had a child, it'll be a hybrid until it reaches maturity age, which is 18 and they have the option to remain a hybrid or chose a between a human or demon. The only demon that this didn't apply to is phoenix, for aside from the legendary hero, Marcelino, and his unknown child, there are no more phoenixes.

And even with the knowledge that Phoenixes are reincarnated as humans, their demon side is sealed and can only be broken until they found their mate, which is quite difficult because no one knows who their mates are. A sad ending for the majestic creatures, but the demons believed that Phoenix will come back and are just waiting for their leader to find his mate and children. However, with how many years had passed this belief is slowly disappearing as they haven't since the Legendary Hero since the war.

Lucianna looked through her window and watched the droplets of rain slide down from the glass when she heard the front door of her house open. She stood up and went out, then walk down the hallway which leads to a stair that was leading down to the first floor. The mother of two walked down and looked at the man that was removing his hood, steam coming out from his cloak.

"Welcome home, Papa." Lucianna smiled as she walk closer to her Father, a man Laxus, who was a head or two taller than her, with spiky red hair and red-slitted eyes, a slightly bulky build, tan skin, and the appearance of someone in their mid-30s.

"I'm home, Luci." Her father smiled, she took his cloak from him and gestured for him to sit down on one of the chairs of their tavern before she went and hang his cloak. This is followed by her going to the kitchen grabs a covered tray on the kitchen counter, before heading outsides.

"Why are you not asleep yet?" Laxus asked and his adopted daughter smiled, put down the tray, and removed the cover, revealing his dinner, before sitting down.

"The boys were asking for stories again."

"Ahhh…" The red-haired dragon nodded and smirked. "And which one did they ask to be a storybook this time?"

"Well…" Lucianna giggled. "This time it's the story of the events that happen three years ago."

Her response made her father snort. "Of course, days ago it was the story of Faeist, why am I not surprised."

"They are quite determined to help me manage the tavern and protect me."

"Why make it a bedtime story then?"

"I don't know and I didn't bother to ask." Luci laughed, before stopping and watching her father eat, it was only when he was done eating did she asked. "How was the expedition this time?"

Her father sighed and looked at her a bit sadly. "We manage to rescue a lot, however, it's getting worse and worse."

"How worse is it this time?" She asked rather worriedly.

"They are capturing children that are between 10 to 12 years old." He answered and this made her gasp.

"Papa…"

"Don't worry, I'll make sure nothing will happen to you, to the boys, and to this island," Laxus swore, holding his daughter's hand. "I swore it as a Dragonian Knight."

Dragonian Knight, as stated is a soldier for the Dragon race, and not only Dragons had soldiers, for the humans and the other demons had their own as well. The knights had multiple purposes, however, Laxus troops were focused on rescue missions, and recons, a very important role for the world. Because no matter how many saintess and saints there are, it is still unavoidable for Daemons to appear and this time, they are clever in their ways to get what they wanted.

They used black magic, something that was discovered nearly 200 years ago by a very greedy Daemon, nobody knew how they manage to achieve it, as they work in a separate cluster and this made it hard to capture them as each base of these Daemons is hidden well. They even manage to slightly cut the connection God had with them, for the past centuries, aside from the blessed ones, no one could reach out to their Creator.
