Chapter 2 - UNPAID DEBTS

A day after I was walking going to the other side of the village I was surprised to see the crowd of people most of them had their hands on their heads. "What has happened? " I asked a young boy who was coming from the same side but the boy seemed to be mindless. I could even see that he was full of terror, tears and all sorts of discomfort, I also didn't mind I headed closer to the crowd, actually it was a girl from the boys family, has been murdered during the night as she was coming back from her university, Malawi University of Sciences and Technology well known as MUST. She was the only child in the family who had gone far with education but by this time the information had not yet reached the girl's family members except the boy who used to play that side of the village. I felt sorry but it didn't take me long then I continued the journey to where I was going.

Upon reaching the destination I found the guy I was looking for playing bawo with his two sisters after seeing me he was caught up with fear he wanted to run but it was too late.

"Man tabwerera kadola kaja" I spoke in Chichewa meaning (am here for my money). I couldn't speak English with him because the guy was typical illiterate. It's been half a year he owe me my five thousand kwacha always he could say "man tikupatsani simukuona mene dziko liliri" meaning, I will give you can't you see the way things are in our country, talking the truth, things went worse in our country that's why I could even get what he was trying to say but sometimes I could reverse my understanding decision because I couldn't smell any change of things.

" man mukudziwa kuti grand palace week yamawa kukubwera Namadingo? He asked me, meaning do you know that Namadingo is coming to grand palace next week. I look at him with a bored face because I felt he with the language he was speaking he will spoil the book I was writing. I wanted to tell him but I kept my mouth shut because I felt he will feel I am so selfish because he didn't even know a single word in English except how are you.

"Ndagula kale ticket " I answered him so strongly talking the truth the guy was loved by more people because of his RNB music.

I even forgot the money I came for because of the chill he gave me and also with the look of his two sisters I can't lie one of the two sisters completely destroyed my mind but I couldn't even start a word to them except the "bho" (greeting) from the very first.

It took me two hours to leave the place because it was now almost twelve o'clock when they were coming out with pumpkin combined with maize of which they planned for lunch that noon. I couldn't tell from my mouth that I really admired the meal but because I had already told them that I am going and also I felt I can't eat in the presence of those girls.

"Man tikumana ku show next week" we departed as he was returning home. I walked so fast thinking I was the one to cook at home eventually I heard my phone ringing I wanted to hang up thinking it was my roommate. Checking it was my father I quickly answered the call.

"Mvula ikutha iyi tidzayamba liti kulima?" my father complained saying rain is going to an end yet I had one week more to close the semester I quickly hanged up after answering his complaint and off started running home to cook. Upon reaching home I found my mesho (roomamate) already finished cooking everything. Talking the truth the guy had easy understanding.

"But have you heard that the vice president has been arrested last night? " He asked me. "No! I only know that he has been involved in corrupt scandal" I answered.

But this government is not that stable how come same people betraying each other in the same rule?" He asked.

"And am sure by the end of their term we will have more hidden corruption scandals" I replied.

"Talking the truth I trusted the guys from the first look at the views of their manifestos but with these no sense we won't endure anymore" I continued.

"Ayt you're not lying gee" He supported. "All I want is the guy who fought for us in the previous rule with his human rights coalition should fight again this time this should not take longer" i said.

"You mean John Nyungu?" He replied in a surprised way . I nodded my head in acceptance. "Oh, don't you know that anamugwiritsa chibanzi, he is now the minister of the same party"He answered. I was never surprised because I have seen that kind of act for so long in our country and I have heard many stories regarding the stuff.

One of the scene is where the candidate promised to buy shoes for everyone in the country but we voted for them so now everyone in power uses any technique to have his/her benefits. "But bro lets put this aside am going out this afternoon for a date" He said.

"Ok. It's ok brother" I replied. But what about you do you know that the slim girl in your class has feels for you can't you ask her for a little date? He asked. It sounded like a mock to me because it wasn't in my mind of asking for love on every girl it took me some seconds to answer him because I couldn't believe the switch of the topic from politics to this because he already knew it wasn't my part.

"Gee talking the truth am still loving my ex I can't get over her and for that girl and I don't have the feels for her at all" I answered. "Man learn to let go of the things that weren't meant for you, okay, stop forcing happiness from others, create your own happiness . You seem to not like the slim girls what if you can go for that bbw fat girl she is vacant" He said. Again it pricked in my heart but eventually I started laughing because of his final statement.

"Ha!Ha! Ha! You mean Joyce? Everyone run from her she is too fat" I replied." But sure Gee you need to find a girlfriend you are grown up now, don't you have the feeling, or maybe you end them on this book of yours that you write everywhere you are?" he continued mockingly.

This hurted much and I was shy because he is not the first guy to tell me even my young ma at the village am sure my mom can't just spit it out but she also felt the same I guess. Talking the truth I had grown by then even the winter we were in could speak high notes as a single man.
