Chapter 19 - 19) Test Your Valor - Finland Pt. 4

Nanami and I charged at the Valkyrie who spun the newly created spear in our direction, but we remained unfazed and ready to strike. I gained a little speed, running past Nanami and as the Valkyrie swiped towards me, I slid under the attack and grabbed her ankle. I dropped the oar on the way down and jumped high in the air, and started spinning it around and throwing the curse into the wall. It crashed into the black bricks, causing a massive crater to burst in the wall. Dust filled the room.

"Wasn't that so cool Nanami?!" I yelled as I landed on the ground and picked up Onamazu.

"That didn't finish it off!" Nanami ran up to me and readied his blade.

The Valkyrie came flying out the clouds of dust towards us and grabbed us both by the face, slamming us into the ground.

I dropped the oar again..

"Let! ME! GO!!"

I tightened my hand around its wrist and set my hand on its chest. Shortly after, I started circulating my CE, hoping to blow a hole right through it and possibly destroy its entire arm.

It launched me and Nanami into a wall after basically choke slamming us. Nanami was able to brake before hitting the wall, but I crashed violently. When I got up, I realized I was bleeding profusely from my forehead.

"Ah, damn it. That's not good at all…" I wiped my forehead with my uniform sleeve and took it off.

Time to get serious.

Nanami remained silent and went in alone to brawl with the Valkyrie. Watching them clash blades was extremely impressive, but I was also learning from him. He could dodge and strike at the same time, but also doing noticeable damage to the curse aswell. Seems he's targeting the wings.

I grabbed the steel bar hanging out the crater I was in and pull myself out. Since I'm limited to short range attacks, I might have to interrupt Nanami.

I jumped on the wall and before I could start sliding off, I SPRANG RIGHT OFF OF IT yelling

"C'MERE!!!!"

I punched the Valkyrie right in it's stupid face and rolled on the ground. I didn't have enough time to pick up Onamazu, so I had to resort to strictly hands.

I stood up and assumed a boxing position, but I noticed something fascinating.

The spirit was still stunned from my punch!

So I went in…

MINK MINK MINK

Three solid blows the the gut and face.

"And for the finale.."

I swung my fist across its face and it did a little twirl where its back was turned facing me. I grabbed onto one of its wings and the second I got a good grip, I started pulling ferociously.

CCRRRREEEEAAAAAAKKKK

"COME… OFF GOD DAMN IT..!" I said as I struggled to pull it off.

Nanami came in and finished the job with beautiful stroke from his cleaver, cleanly severing the wing from its body. I stumbled back with its entire wing in hand.

BADUMP! ZOOOOOOOOOOOM

I opened my eyes and noticed I was in a completely new area. My feet felt like they were…underwater? I look down and notice two things. A long, green river of liquid flowing through a dark and narrow channel and a man with a large hat on a boat.. The Valkyrie wing was also no longer in my hands.

"Hey! Do you know where I am??" I yelled at the figure, daring not to approach him under such strange conditions.

I was met with no answer… what's up with everyone ignoring me today.

But soon after, it began raining this green liquid and the boatman started sailing away faster than before.

"Woa- YO WAIT UP!!"

I started running after him but it was like the faster I ran, the farther it would get away! Trying to shuffle my feet through this liquid sure isn't hel— WOOAAH!

I tripped over something in the river and I fall face first.

"Fuck that guy, sheesh.."

I take a good look at my hands, which my right middle ringer is undergoing some searing pain. I look and see a nice sized golden ring. I wish I knew where it came from…wait maybe I do! The Valkyrie had an identical ring on its right hand.

"But I ain't no ring guy." I said before I took off the ring and threw it away.

But as soon as I look down at my hand again, the ring is there. I try several more times over the span of 5 minutes to take it off and throw it elsewhere but it just KEEPS COMING BACK.

"Oh whatever…"

I stand up and look up to the raining sky, close my eyes, and squeeze my hands.

BADUMP! ZOOOOOOOOOOOOM

When I open my eyes back up, the wing has completely vanished and a big golden ring is on my right middle finger.

What in the…

I look around for Nanami, who was easily standing against the wall, holding the helmet of the now exorcised Valkyrie. He had his tie wrapped around his hand while it dripped with blood.

"You killed it by yourself? Incredible!" I cheered.

"Yes, while you were standing in a trance for maybe 20 minutes, I had to deal with the curse myself. It seems as though tearing off one of its wings did severely hinder its power.

I was out for…20 minutes? It barely felt like 5 in there to me!

"Heh, sorry about that. But look at this sweet new ring!"

He got closer and analyzed the ring with no particular expression.

"Is that not the ring on the Valkyrie?" I asked

"It is."

"Did I like…absorb the wing?"

"It was there and then it wasn't. I couldn't pay attention because I was…fighting."

I smiled nervously at him.

But now it's time to see what happens when I try anything with this. First thing that comes to mind is that some type of spear will spawn if I pour CE into it…hopefully it doesn't disintegrate.

"Let's see what happens Nanami."

I began moving my own energy to the base of my hand and up my fingers. Immediately, the ring started glowing and…

A GREEN SPEAR MADE OF LIQUID FORMED!!

I waved it around slowly as droplets of the liquid hit the ground and sizzled.

Oh boy. This is dangerous.

I stopped the flow of CE to my hand and the spear liquid was sucked back into the ring.

"You SAW THAT NANAMI?? WASN'T THAT SO COOL?!"

I looked around and he was already at the entrance walking up the cellar stairs with the helmet in hand.

But I didn't stick around much longer as Nanami was probably already way up the stairs.

"One down, seven more to go." I said to myself with a tinge of excitement.
