Chapter 24 - Mr Arnold is my new master

I stood there blankly, holding the spear, my mind filled with different emotions that I couldn't describe in a few words. "What am I supposed to do?" I suddenly felt a lonely breeze passing through my mind, and a life where I should start everything once again from zero was lying ahead of me. I caressed the spear and felt its power, the same weapon which I once mastered is now once again in my hand. Once again, I felt the power I once had as a shaman. As I was lost in my thoughts, Mother tapped on my shoulder, "Andrea, try to use this. You may love this once you learn how to use it." I nodded and with all my might, I lifted the spear. The spear was taller than me and too heavy for me to hold up using one hand. I had to use two hands to hold it up. With the memories of my previous life and my unparalleled skills in using spears, I thought it would be easy to master it even in this life, but I was wrong. Its weight was a burden for my body and little arms. I couldn't even lift it properly, forget about wielding it like an expert. Still, I decided not to give up. I held the spear in my arms and gave it my best shot. I targeted a spot on the ground, held the spear high with my hands, and ran to throw it to the targeted spot, but to my surprise, I missed the right timing to throw it and instead got thrown by the spear to the ground. My back hurt from the fall. It was hard for a four-year-old to throw a four-feet-long spear, but I am a brave warrior who would never give up. I decided to try again. I held the spear in my hand with all my might once again and got into the position to throw it. Mother, who was watching me trying hard, came near, "Dear, You are still a rookie and need to learn and practice to master how to wield spear. No one can be a great master or a scholar within a few minutes. You need patience and constant practice. So how about we stop here and find a suitable master for you?" I was not ready to accept the fact that now, instead of a master in using a spear, I am a rookie who should start to practice. I shook off my mother's hand and told her, "Mother, I just want to try once again. I don't want to accept defeat with this spear just like that." Mother laughed, "Fine, my daughter. Just don't get hurt or disappointed." This time, I had to try my best and concentrate completely on throwing the spear. I held it high, ran the distance, and threw it, pointing to my target. Instead of hitting the target, the spear just fell down below without flying an inch. It was one of the most embarrassing moments I experienced in my whole life. The confidence I showed my mother just a few seconds before was all crumbling now. My mother smiled and patted my head, "Child, I told you not to be disappointed. You just need more practice." As Mother was telling this, my brothers came. Brother Andres ran towards us, holding his shielded sword. He was sweating and looked exhausted. As he was going to pounce on me for a hug, a man who was six feet and five inches tall with a sturdy body stopped him by grabbing his hand. Brother Andrew's eyes widened. Without turning his head back (while still facing me), he asked, "Master, I thought you were still at the training ground." The man who caught brother was the knight trainer, Mr. Arnolds, who was one of father's trusted knights. He was responsible for training the heirs to the Dukedome. Brother John, who was walking behind, greeted, "Greeting mother. It is good to see you. Hello, Andrea, are you doing well?" Brother Johnathan was always mature and opposite to brother Andrew, who was naughty and very active. Arnold freed Andrew and spoke, "Greeting Duchess and your Highness Princess Andrea. It is my honor to meet you here today." "At ease, Arnold," my mother spoke with a smile. "It is good to see you here today. Andrea and I were trying to find a master to help her." "A master?" Brother John asked curiously. That was when they noticed the spear that was lying down beside me. Brother Andrew asked, "Is our Andrea houng to be a warrior who uses spear instead of a sword?" Mother smiled and nodded, "yes, you will have a sister who can wield a spear." Brother Andrew smiled and spoke, "Wow, that is so cool. though I have seen many using spear. It will be my first time seeing a girl using a spear." The smile that Brother Andrew had was not on the faces of Arnold and Brother John. They were worried, "Isn't Your Highness too young and delicate to use a heavy spear?" Arnold asked worried. Mother smiled and looking at me, she spoke, "Andrea, dear, tell them what do you really want to do?" I understood this was my chance to get a good instructor. It was my duty to convince Mr. Arnold that I am not a weak lady, and I wish to learn to be stronger. I spoke with a confident smile, "Mr. Arnold. Nice to meet you. I heard that you were my brother's master. I too wish to be your student. I am not an expert or master in using a spear or sword, but I will work and train hard enough so that one day you can show other juniors and tell them, 'Look, that is my student, Miss Andrea, who wields the spear like her own hands.'" I did not know how to express myself even in my last life, but this time I wanted to convince Mr. Arnolds to become my master. "Please, Mr. Arnold. If I am not good enough, you can stop my training, but at least give me a chance to prove my worth." He was still worried as I was little to start training to use spears. "But My Lady, It will be harsh training. I am worried." "Please don't worry, I can handle any training for my love of spears." I spoke with a smile, holding Mr. Arnold's hands. He smiled back at me, "It is my pleasure to train you, your Highness." It was this moment that my life started to get more interesting and intense. Brothers stood beside me and looked at Mother. Mother smiled at them and assured them that everything would be fine. The trust she had in me was something that helped me to stay confident in my decision. Brother Johnathan and Brother Andrew welcomed me as their new junior who was soon going to be a warrior.
