Chapter 15 - Baby news (chapter 15)

Ever since I told David about my pregnant he has been happy every single day. Every time he got the chance he would talk to my belly and kiss it every time. Every thing was okay until he decided to stop me from working.

"What do you mean i can't work anymore?!" I asked already angry, "listen to me sweetheart you're pregnant now and we can't have you doing anything that puts pressure on your body." He said, "also we can't have anyone in the office finding out about your pregnancy." He added. He made a point but what was I going to do alone In that big house?

"Understand me please," he said holding onto my hand. "What am I supposed to do alone in this big house?" I asked, "I know it's not going to be easy but right now your health is important to you and the baby." He said, "You dont have to worry about anything else cause I'll provide everything for you," he took out his Wallet and took out his black card. "Use this to get anything you desire, there's no limit to my money when it comes to you." He said stroking my hair behind my ears and kissing me.

"I'll get a driver for you so you can get home safely." He said, i huffed. "Don't complain if I spend all your money," He smiled. "Don't worry, money isn't a problem for me. There's also no limitation to my money spend how ever much you want." He said kissing me one last time.

Once I got back home I felt so lonely the house was so big it made me feel so anxious. All I can say is that it's going to be a nice long nine months. I slumped on the couch and pulled out my phone, suddenly Stephanie called me, I answered the call and I wasn't prepared for what she said. "DID YOU GET FIRED?!" She asked shouting, "I guess you can say that," I replied, "oh my god, did you guys break up?" She asked shock filling her voice, "no, I'm still perfectly dating David." I chuckled a little bit, "things got complicated so he just told me to stop working." I told her.

"Okay, I just hope you're okay." She said, "okay then get back to work." I told her. We said our goodbyes and ended the call. "It's also going to be hard keeping this pregnancy from everyone. I laid on the couch staring at the ceiling for a while until I realized that David gave me his card.

I grabbed my purse and took out the card to stair at it for a while. After realizing I had the card in my hands I grabbed my phone and found a close noodle place to buy some.

When I found one I ordered some jajangmyeon noodles filled with beef meat. I think I've grown a habit of eating noodles, maybe it's because I always ate noodles while I was living alone.

As I was waiting for the noodles I suddenly crossed by a ad about things you need to know as a first time mom. Curious I clicked on the ad and it took me to a website filled with baby stuff. The stuff we're so cute that I even forgot why I clicked on the ad.

I was Eagerd to buy half of the stuff I saw but, I pulled myself back together. Even though I had David's card I couldn't just spend money on baby stuff if I don't even know the gender of the baby.

I dropped my phone grabbed the remote and waited for my food while watching tv.

When the noodles arrived, the aroma filled the air, offering a brief distraction. I savored each bite, the taste taking me back to simpler times when noodles were my go-to comfort food. Honestly I feel like I'm in heaven right now, I would agree and say this is the best part of being pregnant.

After I finished devouring the noodles I realized that David didn't have anything to eat when he came back from work. I decided to clean up my mess and head to the kitchen to cook something for him.

Cooking wasn't my forte, but I thought I could try my hand at something simple.

Rummaging through the refrigerator, I found some chicken, a variety of vegetables, and a jar of pasta sauce. With these ingredients, I opted to make a chicken and vegetable pasta dish. It was a straightforward recipe I had come across in the past.

Setting a pot of water to boil, I sliced the chicken and chopped the vegetables. A sense of accomplishment rose within me as I cooked, even though I was far from being a seasoned chef. The familiar sounds and smells of a home-cooked meal filled the kitchen, soothing my unease about the abrupt lifestyle changes.

Once the pasta was ready, I combined it with the cooked chicken and vegetables, adding a generous amount of sauce. As I set the table, laying out plates and utensils, the aroma of the meal wafted through the air, making me feel somewhat proud.

The thought of David arriving to a home-cooked meal gave me a sense of contentment. For a moment, it felt like things were slowly falling into place, despite the whirlwind of emotions and the uncertainties that encircled me.

As I tidied up the kitchen and waited for David to return, the satisfaction of preparing the meal for us created a newfound sense of homeliness in the vast space. I could only hope that my simple gesture would convey the love and appreciation I had for him and our budding family.

Minutes turned into an hour, and there was still no sign of David. I felt a slight pang of worry, wondering if something had detained him. I decided to text him to see if everything was alright.

"Hey, just wanted to check if everything's okay. Dinner's ready for you. Hope you're on your way back soon," I typed out, hitting send and hoping for a prompt response. After waiting for 5 minutes there was still no response so I decided to call him; I called him 5+ times but he still wasn't answering. At this point I started to panic, where could he be at this time of night?

After hours of waiting I laid on the couch my thoughts running wild but I slowly started slipping away into a slumber.

——

Later in the midnight's the door opened and David walked in, he quietly took off his shoes and walked towards the living room. He slowly started unbuttoning his suit taking it off and throwing it on the couch, he found Mary curled up and sleeping soundly. He sighed as he sat next to her, he gently brushed her hair out of her face and kissed her forehead. Mary slowly opened her eyes and saw David, "you're back." She said softly trying to get up, "I'm really sorry I came late, something happened at the photo shoot so I had to rush over and I left my phone at the office." David told her, "as long as your fine it's okay." She said hugging him. David carried her onto his lap and held her tight in his arms.

"Should we go to bed?" He asked, Mary groaned and nodded her head. David stood still carrying her in his arms and walked up to their room.

He asked placed her on the bed and covered her. He kissed her good night, but as he was about to enter the bathroom he got a call; when he looked at the phone he sighed in frustration. "What do you want at this time of night?" He asked, "how long are you going to wait to tell us that woman is pregnant?" The person on the other side asked, "Look, my woman has nothing to do with you guys or have any reason to interact with you." "You also have no reason to care about my child, you never gave a dame about me so there's no need to care about my unborn child!" He exclaimed.

"David do you understand that we are family for goodness sake!" "No we're not, the second I left that house was also when I left that family." He added, "so if you don't mind, goodbye mother." He said ending the call.
