Well, their interaction ended quickly because of Roulan's wrong choice of words. After what Yanmei told her, she couldn't help the creeping smile on her mouth.
Yanmei teased her that she was starting to like the older woman, which she denied.
Her answer clearly didn't make the older woman happy. This causes Yanmei to glare at her, and she quickly receives a smack on her chest.
She doesn't get how straightforward the woman was. And it's one thing that makes Yanmei Yanmei.
"What did you do to her again?"
Roulan looks at the side, her back lying on the hotel lobby's couch, as she contemplates whether to go back and face the two women or sleep in the lobby.
"I just tell her what I feel."
"Let me guess; she said something that made you smile, and then she teased that you like her already."
Guang rolled her eyes in the process, sitting on the one-person couch.
Roulan's eyes widen at what she says, her head turning in her direction.
"What? How did you know?"
Guang smirks in the process, her arms crossing as well as her legs.
"I know her so well that I don't need to hear the whole story."
Roulan stands up after lying on the couch. She leans on the backrest as she looks at Guang weirdly.
"That's a bit creepy."
Guang's smirk widens. She stands up from the chair and goes in front of Roulan, patting the woman's thigh in the process.
"Oh, trust me, you should worry more about Yanmei if that's the topic."
-
Their night is spent sleeping in their hotel rooms. Roulan chose the farthest bed from Huiqing, yet when she went back, Yanmei had already occupied the space.
She saw the two women sleeping peacefully. Huiqing looks at her bed, while Yanmei faces the balcony door.
Their field trip starts today, and they are going to a museum. It is said that the museum has the first monarchy's heirloom.
The gloves they use.
Until towards the last monarchy that manages their country.
Roulan sighs in contentment as their seats are arranged alphabetically, giving her a break from the two women.
Huiqing keeps glancing at her, as she's almost in the middle row. Chang looks at Roulan, his mouth widening into a smirk, and quickly pulls the woman away.
Roulan's hand balled into a fist, but she sighs and shakes her head. It's the sitting arrangement, and she doesn't have anything to do with it.
The bus started to move, but the driver quickly stepped on the break, causing people to bump their heads on the chair in front.
"What the hell!?"
"Did the bus break down?"
The door of the bus opened, and hurried steps were heard. Teachers looked at the newcomer, and they quickly stopped the person.
Yet they couldn't as it hurriedly went towards the back row, towering open the sitting woman beside the window.
"Let's exchange seats."
The familiar, sassy voice caught Roulan's attention. She quickly pans her gaze at the girl towering over her assigned seatmate.
"But-"
"You'll go, or you'll go?"
Yanmei made it clear that the girl didn't have any choice, so she was quick to scram towards the other bus.
The older woman looks around before settling beside Roulan, looking away as she grabs her phone and mindlessly scrolls on social media.
Her actions stir something inside the students' minds, grabbing their phones to gossip with their friends on the other buses.
Huiqing's frown is showing; she couldn't understand how and why Yanmei went inside their bus to sit beside Roulan.
"I always think that something is going on with them."
Chang spoke; his gaze landed on the two women, who avoided looking at each other. The bus set off again as Huiqing leaned her back on the backrest.
Chang took a glance at her, scoffing, as what he said didn't affect the woman beside him.
"Rumor said they're dating."
He spoke again, attempting to poke something inside the woman to make her realize that it was not Roulan that she needed.
But then, she doesn't show anything.
In all honesty, Huiqing knew Roulan very well, as she had been observing the girl ever since she got a link with Yu.
As her friend also told her, Roulan doesn't easily move on and be with someone.
So what Chang said is impossible.
The guy sneered in the process, mumbling something that Huiqing didn't mind at all as she closed her eyes and tried to distract herself.
Surely, Yanmei went into their bus just to sit beside her.
Yu and Lanfen probably instructed her to do so.
Roulan sighs and looks of the window, wanting to finish the ride so she can be far from Yanmei.
Although her mind races, why did she change her seat if she was upset with the taller woman?
Her head hurts thinking of multiple reasons to avoid the sudden change of heart. Yanmei glances at her before grabbing her phone, feeling it vibrate.
A ringtone is heard around the bus. The students looked at each other before their eyes landed on Roulan, who quickly muted her phone.
The woman smiles awkwardly and bows down, apologizing for interrupting the peace.
As she opens her phone, a message pops up from someone she doesn't want to meet.
She quickly reads the message:
Once you both finish the field trip, go back to my mansion for your mission.
Shihong sent her an odd message. She furrowed her eyebrows before putting the phone back in its place, ignoring what he said.
"Students, remember that we need to form a line."
Roulan looks out as the bus stops; her eyes scan the area, and she sees a palace-like building just beside where the bus is parked.
The teacher instructed them to go out quietly. Roulan waits till Yanmei stands up before she does the same, stopping on her track as Huiqing traps them both.
"Come on, we should stick together."
The woman smiles widely at them, her arms snaking themselves on Roulan's right arm.
Yanmei couldn't help but sneer at her action, crossing her arms as she followed the two in front.
-
"Doesn't this one look familiar?"
Shihong spoke the undying question into his mind. His hand held the ring he and Roulan bought back when he forced the woman to marry his daughter.
The maid inside his office glances at him befcleaninglean his table.
He stands up and looks out of the window; his eyes scan the garden as the ring is still in his hand.
Shihong looks down and sighs, looking to his left and seeing their family picture. His eyebrows furrow as he holds the ring tightly.
He went towards the picture, picking it up, before swiftly looking at the ring in his hand.
"That's why it looked familiar."
He whispered, looking at his wife's hand and at the ring that Yanmei now owns.
"But maybe this one is a copy."
"No, that doesn't seem like it. When she died, this vanished, and it's only one of a kind."
The maid looks up slowly, her hand quickly retracting from cleaning up further, before she slowly turns around to leave him.
Shihong heard how the door shut, but he didn't pay any attention to it.
He can only think, why did the ring suddenly show up and it's up for sale?
Also, who could sell this piece of jewelry and not give it to him when his wife died?
