Chapter 50 - Last day in Zhenguan

Unfortunately for them, after the event that occurred when they started, the other events were canceled.

The school decided to let the students rest or enjoy their lives around the hotel. Roulan slept like a dead man. She didn't wake up even when dinner was served.

But as soon as she woke up, she felt energized yet hungry.

She happily walked towards the elevator, pressing the 2nd-floor button to join the others for breakfast. As soon as she opens the door to the catering room, her smile shrinks. She is not seeing anyone or any food.

"What?"

She questioned, confused as to why there was no one in the room. A woman goes out of the door, which leads to the kitchen, with a mop in her hand as she starts cleaning the place.

She looks up, seeing a teary-eyed Roulan, who looks around the place. She sighs.

"Sorry, kid, the breakfast is over; you can wait till lunch."

She said, not wanting to deal with her as she thought she might be one of those whiny brat kids from wealthy families.

Roulan looks down, her feet turning as she walks out of the room, defeated. Her ears catches heels touching the ground loudly until she can see the feet of the person.

She quickly looked up, her eyes staring back at Yanmei's soft ones. Her heart starts to beat a little slower as the woman starts to speak.

Yet she seems to not hear anything at the moment. Her eyes stare at Yanmei's beautiful big ones, seeing her reflection, who looks like a lost puppy that finally met her owner.

"Are you even listening?"

Roulan is quick to snap out of what she's thinking, shaking her head in the process, causing Yanmei to sigh in frustration.

"I was asking you if you wanted to eat outside."

Upon hearing the magic word, her eyes shine as she moves closer towards Yanmei. And it was as if the older woman saw a tail behind her back, wiggling excitedly.

"Of course! Where should we eat?"

Roulan asks. Yanmei grabbed the woman's arm and clung to it, dragging her out of the hotel premises.

The teacher decided that it's best if the students explore the town. They wouldn't be able to visit any of what's supposed to be their destinations.

Of course, if the students are willing, they will have their booklet for this field trip to know where the destinations are that they're supposed to go.

The school always uses the last day as the students' sanctuary for them to rest, enjoy, and go around the town.

And as they were walking, Roulan spotted a lot of familiar faces who started staring at them and talking with each other.

Her eyes quickly look away, seeing how they judge her considering she is known as Huiqing's partner. She quickly turned to the right, confusing Yanmei, as she knew where the restaurant was.

"What's wrong?"

"Maybe you shouldn't cling onto me; students from school are looking."

"Let them; we're friends, right?"

Yanmei said as Roulan nodded. The older woman smiles widely, her hand tapping her cheek, before she clings again and drags her towards where the restaurant is.

Roulan looks ahead and thinks, her eyebrow furrowed at what Yanmei said.

Let them; we're friends, right?

Let them; we're friends, right?

Let them; we're friends, right?

Her mind travels back to when Yanmei said that, thinking and imagining herself rebutting what the older woman said.

Her eyes widen at what she's thinking, shaking her head and causing the woman beside her to stare.

"What's wrong? Are you alright?"

Yanmei asks, her eyebrows furrowing in worriedness as her eyes stare at Roulan. The younger woman looks at her and smiles, nodding her head.

"Yeah."

She quickly looks away, her eyes scanning to see what area of Zhenguan they are currently in.

"Here, I found this yesterday with Guang, and I told myself to bring you here."

Yanmei said, her hand removing their grip on her arms. She quickly walks inside, leaving Roulan out to decide whether she's going in or not.

But of course, with Roulan's stomach growling in the process of her thinking, she held the door and went inside.

She quickly walked towards where Yanmei was, sitting down across from her. The older woman called the waiter as she ordered their food.

The waiter walked away, going back to the counter as he listed their orders. Her eyes look around; it's a simple restaurant and super cozy to add.

It seems like Yanmei has great taste for a common place.

But wait, the menu looks a little odd.

It's white, with the letters covered in gold. Might as well just check it for assurance that it's not those restaurants in disguise.

Roulan grabs the menu on her side; her eyes widen upon seeing the prices of the foods in the restaurant.

"It's cheap, right?"

Yanmei's voice blows her bubble. She looks up, her eyes widening, before putting down the menu where she got it, dusting it in the process.

"How can that be cheap?"

"Well, not the typical prices back home."

Yanmei's lips curled into a smile, and her eyes turned crescent as they both waited for the food to arrive.

Surely, Roulan wouldn't be able to shallow everything as she overthinks the prices.

-

"So? What happened?"

"We just ate and left."

"Nothing happened like yesterday."

Guang questioned the older woman who lay on her bed. Yanmei nodded, her eyes staring blank at the ceiling as she recalls what she said earlier.

"Why did you tell me to say that to her?"

"Check her reaction?"

"Well, it didn't work."

Yanmei said, her hand lying on her stomach as she sighed yet again. Guang hum, her hand busy cleaning the hotel, as anytime soon they'll be leaving the premises.

Her eyes glanced at Yanmei before smiling a little. She knew something the woman didn't.

Although the heartbeat slowing down is a sign of dying, Roulan seems to be a little different than that.

It's not the usual "heart beating faster" or "butterflies in her stomach," but the taller woman felt calm around Yanmei. For sure, the younger one might feel a little different when Yanmei says those.

Guang is an expert in terms of relationships. She has been in a lot of relationships, so she knows the different feelings of different people.

And let's say that what Roulan is feeling right now is the same as what Guang felt with her current girlfriend.

"What if I just push myself toward her?"

"You've been doing that."

"Then what should I do?"

"My advice."

Guang spoke, her eyes looking at the woman on the bed, who slowly rose from the bed. Yanmei pouted in response; she's been dying to hug Roulan since earlier.

And when they were at the restaurant, she wanted to feed the taller woman, as she seemed to be bothered by something.

Yanmei already has an idea of what it is. The prices of the foods at the restaurant. She even wants to plant her lips on the taller woman's cheek when she looks like a lost puppy.

"If this doesn't work, you have to buy me a car."

"Deal, and if it works, buy me a house."

"Deal."

Yanmei stands up, approaching Guang as she holds her hand for a handshake. The younger woman stands up from the ground, her lips turning into a smirk.
