Chereads / War of The Summoners / Chapter 4 - The Answer to The Question

Chapter 4 - The Answer to The Question

Sitting on the head of my lovely dragon, I watched the scenery below while enjoying the fruits that village chief gave me a few minutes ago. Although this world fruits have a much more diverse color and shape than the fruits on earth, their taste is not much different.

One advantage of fruit in this world is they contain mana. Eating a few fruits was enough to fill up the points in my mana pool to the brim at the same time my hunger and thirst disappeared after eating these fresh fruits.

"Crimson are you able to sense human presence around this area?" I asked.

"Yes, master."

After receiving confirmation from Crimson now I ordered it to approach the closest human it could feel while I opening the status menu to see my own stats.

[Name : Vox Bloodknight]

[Level : 10]

[Age : 17]

[Race : Human]

[Job : Summoner]

[Contracted Creature : Six-Winged Red Lightning Dragon]

[HP Pool :43 years]

[Mana Pool : 190/190]

With the amount of points I have at level 10 at least I can use shock claws for 35 minutes. Half an hour is more than enough to defeat the bandits. Moreover there are still Crimson who can help me whenever I order it.

Apart from repaying the village chief's kindness, I also did this for the sake of leveling up and training my combat skills without the help of the creatures I contracted.

No need to wait for long, about 2 or 3 minutes later I saw two people dressed as bandits waiting for their prey from behind a tree. Too focused on the horse carriage in the distance they didn't notice me and Crimson hovering in the sky behind them.

Next I asked Crimson to let me down at a safe distance from their reach. It was only when my feet stepped on the green grass that I began to move quickly towards the two bandits.

Because there are two of them, it means that none of them is called Jean Sowing because Jean Sowing only acted alone. But I was still able to find out about him and about the bandit organization through the two bandits in front of me who were still oblivious to my presence.

Clenching my fist I started to use the shock claws ability and turned both of my hands into the dragon claws. Immediately my hands were covered in blood-red scales and red lightning shot out from my two hands, or now it's more suitable to be called my two claws.

The lightning from my two claws came out naturally without any orders from me. It was that lightning that made the two bandits in front of me startled and turned their bodies instinctively.

Not wasting the opportunity for their negligence, one of my claws hit the chest of one of them and fresh blood flowed from within his chest.

Meanwhile another bandit tried to attack me with the sword in his hand but when the sword collided with my dragon claw, the sword he was holding broke into two pieces.

Instantly his face turned pale and the shadow of death came over him. Looking at my hand, he realized that I was a summoner because only summoner's could use the abilities of the creatures they contracted with.

"How is that possible? The boss had made sure there weren't any summoner's on patrol duty in this area." He said in a panic.

It seemed the summoner's absence in this area had a strong connection to the person he called boss. That meant he was a valuable source of information to keep alive at this point.

My original plan was to interrogate him about Jean Sowing. But now I'm going to extract a lot of information from him.

Whistled loudly, I signaled for Crimson to reveal his form in front of us. From behind the cloud a black shadow appeared. Seeing a large dragon with domineering appearance, the bandit's legs went limp and made him sit down.

"Now I'm giving you two choices. Become a corpse like your bandit friend or come with me and leak everything you know about the bandits and your boss. I know your boss has something to do with the summoner's absence in this region. Think smart about whether that information is more valuable than the only life you have?"

Even though I knew this was the real world but the existence of levels made me instinctively think that this was just a video game. That's what made me not feel nauseous the first time I took someone else's life. Even though the other person was a bandit who had taken many innocent lives.

Less than a second, the bandit before me gave up as I carried him off onto the dragon's back. Crimson was very displeased that a lowly creature was riding on his back. But what else can it do? It's the master order.

Now sitting face to face. I started interrogating this bandit.

After spending about half an hour, I got a lot of important information about the robber organization from him. Including the reason why no summoner's had been patrolling this area for the past 3 months.

While ordering Crimson to head towards the base of the bandits according to the information I got. I looked at the horizon with my heart starting to beat fast. It was not fear but rather an impatience to meet strong opponents. Who would have thought that their boss was none other than Jean Sowing and Jean Sowing was a summoner originally tasked with patrolling this area but abused his position to create a band of robbers while covering all his activites from the kingdom.

"So that's why he always act alone."

Besides having enough strength to carry out his evil actions, this man can also use this method as an excuse not to get involved with the robbers organization which is said to always move in group.

I'm betting that Jean Sowing is a fake name in anticipation that no one will ever know his real identity. But a question arises. How could this bandit know the real identity of the boss? If he is a trusted person maybe everything can be explained but from his power or equipment I know its impossible for him to be an important member of his organization.

"Tell me how did you find out the true identity of your boss? You don't look like an important and trusted member of your organization."

I saw the bandit scratch his head as he answered awkwardly.

"Actually I found out by accident. After I got my senses back from drunkenness, I saw the boss changing his bandit outfit into a summoner's uniform and flying off using his contracted creature. Before leaving, I heard him talking alone saying the report would be a success and no other summoner's would be patrolling the area."

After a few moments of silence, I said to the bandit next to me, "If what you say is true then I will not kill you and will hand you over to be punished for your wrong doing. But if you lie or trying to do something when I fight later, you will follow in the footsteps of your dead comrades."
