Maia
La Unica Cafe was busy today, I'm standing near the door in line, tapping my foot on the ground impatiently. I'm starving and I really don't wish to wait this long but I crave the food here. I'll wait.
After almost thirty whole minutes of waiting, it's finally my turn. Ordering two bowls, one with chicken and another with beef. I stand to the side to wait.
Thanking the cashier as she hands me my order, my eyes scan the cafe for an empty table. Shortly after, I spot a two-chair aluminum table.
Taking both bowls out of the bag, I place the beef across from me and the chicken bowl in front of me. Just in time, Alyssa makes her way to where I'm sitting, pulling the chair away causing a loud scraping noise that echoed across the cafe, eyes turning our way.
With my hands covering my face in embarrassment, I peaked at Alyssa between my fingers. Finally taking her seat I drop my hands and look at her.
"That was so loud." Grabbing the fork and stabbing some chicken into it.
"I know, how awkward." Opening her bowl, she sniffs in the aroma, her eyes rolling back.
I had texted her to meet me for lunch fifteen minutes ago. Of course, she happily accepted free food. We have grown closer since Danny played us and I'm so happy it brought us closer instead of apart.
We chit chat about everything; school, friends, gossip, even about the club we will attending later today. I invited Melody of course and Alyssa invited a few friends to go with us too. Supposedly the more the better.
Staring out the window, I lift the fork into my mouth with the last bite of rice, black beans, chicken, guacamole, and chicken. My eyes follow Michael's figure who's standing outside under a leafless tree, talking with a group of guys. I'm genuinely surprised there's no girls surrounding him.
My eyes follow his every move. My head automatically reliving our last conversation, "there's no competition, you already won." What does that even mean? He's a confusing man that's for sure, but I wish to hear those words again, again, and again.
Wearing black sweat pants and a matching black shirt, I don't need to be close to know how tight fitted the shirt looks around his muscular chest and arms. He's the definition of perfection, his sharp jaw line is well defined and the guy looks hot wearing Nike shoes, as weird as it may sound.
"Ah, I'm assuming you're drooling over Michael? Or maybe Matt?" Alyssa raises an eyebrow at me before looking out the window again.
With sweaty palms, I force myself to look away from the group, "who's Matt?" Wanting to kick myself immediately. I just gave away that I was indeed drooling over Michael. I shamefully stare at the table and play with my empty bowl.
"Well that settles it then. I don't blame you, Michael is nice on the eyes but I wouldn't go there if I were you. He's not a relationship type of guy and will more then likely break your heart. Plus I hear he does illegals stuff."
Chewing my bottom lip, I don't confirm nor deny his illegal drug deals.
"You know something I don't?" Alyssa falls back on her chair, her arms crossed and her lips perked up, wanting for answers.
I buried my face in my hands, wanting to hide the redness of my embarrassment.
Embarrassed because I knew from the beginning I shouldn't be interested him. I knew he was a player or at least; he wasn't the type of guy who committed. I also knew he did drugs and sold them— I saw him give someone drugs for money once but had confirmation the day I was in his room.
I allowed him to kiss me. I allowed myself to feel. I let him have my body, and it was all fun and games until reality slapped me in the face. He will never think of me or what we shared to be anything but a meaningless hook up. One of his many.
But it's been hard lately to keep lying to myself. I don't think I could admit it out loud, but I like him. Shit, after the night of passion we had I don't think it's as simple crush anymore..
Alyssa psst in my direction, moving my hands away from my face, with glossy eyes, I dared look at her in the eyes, swallowing the tight knot in my throat. She flew forward in her seat with a gasp.
"No you didn't? No way!" She covered her mouth is disbelief, moving her chair even closer to the table.
"Maia, you and Michael? Really?" Pointing her finger between myself and the window.
"How? When? Tell me everything!" Excitement radiating from her.
I couldn't get any words out. To be honest, it felt like if I spoke I was going to let out a painful sob and I don't feel like crying again. Not here, not in front of the girl who has become my best friend. She's been so strong not to break in front of me about Danny, so why can't I be as strong as her? I must.
"Oh honey, it's okay to cry you know? I don't know what happened but your face tells me it hurts you. I'm here to lend you my shoulder to cry on." She reached for my hands across the table.
Feeling her gentle touch broke me. I couldn't stop the tears from falling. I really needed to talk to someone about how I felt, bottling things in was hurting me more than I cared to admit. I needed someone to be there for me and that someone is her, Alyssa.
Alyssa let go of my hands and quickly made her way to me. Dragging her chair next to me. Bring me into her arms quickly after, I silent cried on her chest. With one hand she stroked my light brown hair and with the other she drew circles on my back. Softly telling me that it's okay, that I'll be okay.
She stayed hugging me for a while. Breaking myself away from her warm embrace, I wipe my tears away quickly before anyone notices. Taking a deep breath, I try to compose myself. I looked out the window, but he wasn't there anymore. Taking another deep breath, I face Alyssa and force a smile on my face.
"I'll be okay. Plus, we are partying tonight so no more crying over stupid boys." I told her with fake confidence.
"Good! We are getting fucked up tonight and we will forget about these fuckboys." She smiles at me.
Yes, we shall forget tonight.

Wicked Games by The Weeknd plays from my Alexa. I'm trying to tame my crazy curls but loosing patience when they stay freezy. How much oil do I need to use of this hair? Why must I have curly hair and not straight? Dropping my self on the bed in frustration, I close my eyes trying to calm down.
Getting my self off the bed, I go straight to the dressing myself part. I'll deal with the hair later or not. I don't care anymore. Walking to my dresser, I lay down on the bed two new outfits I bought from one of my shopping sprees with Alyssa and Melody. Torn between a sparkling black dress and a red leather dress.
Deciding that the red leather dress might fit the occasion better, I waste no time in changing since it's already 9:03, three minutes late to meet my friends. I put on 3 inch black heels and brush some blush on my cheeks. Grabbing my purse before making my way downstairs.
Waiting for me against the wall is Alyssa, Melody and Tina. All three set of eyes snap my way as I'm approaching them. A friendly smile on both Alyssa and Melody's face, but Tina greets me with an eye roll. The very pretty blonde doesn't like me very much. For what reason? I have no idea, but since the day I've met her a few weeks back, she doesn't pay me much attention and if she does it's nothing but curt comments or shitty facial attitude.
"Wow, you look hot bestie." Alyssa eyes my outfit with a huge smile.
"I must agree, you look like a bad bitch." Melody adds on.
"Yeah, but her boobs need to fill the cup of the dress a bit more." Another eye roll follows from Tina.
"Maybe you can pay for my boob job, Tina." I clipped in her direction, half joking.
Catching an Uber, we made our way to the club. The drive wasn't as long as I thought it was thank god for that because I don't enjoy long car ride, specially when Tina hasn't stopped giving me dirty looks the whole time.
The black bricked building was decorated with pink LED lights, the line was long there was a lot of security watching out for the place. Just from the outside I can tell the this is a whole different vibe from the other clubs we have been too.
"Holy shit this place is nice." Alyssa mused at the building along with all of us.
"Yeah, I feel like this will be expensive." Feeling myself sweat from the anxiety of the prices was ridiculous when I had just enough money to spend, but the thought of spending money on meaningless things, is just something I don't like to do.
"What you're broke too?" Tina's bitchy comment didn't go unnoticed by my two friends this time.
"What's your problem Tina? We didn't invite you to be s bitch so either drop the attitude towards Maia or leave." With arms crossed Alyssa rose one eyebrow at Tina.
"I was just saying. But my bad."
We ignored the pathetic apology and conversed until it was time to get inside. Showing out IDs to the bouncer and walking inside together, all of out mouths flying open at the amazing view. The roof decorated the dance floor with blue and white lights, shifting from one place to another. The Dj was on one corner of the dance floor, playing The away I Are by Timberline. The floor looked like LED glass, every time you stepped on it it would change color. The bar changed colors too, blue, pink, yellow, and white. Three handsome bartenders attending all the customers, smiles decorating their almost perfect faces. Some booths and tables scared around and a VIP section on the back of the club.
Making our way to the bar, Melody waves one of the bartenders. Walking towards us is a handsome, green eyed, tall young Leonardo DiCaprio. He was beautiful.
"Are you ladies ordering a drink or just here to stare at me?" His chuckle exposed a dimple making him even sexier.
"Ah, can we get 6 double shots please." Melody was the first to speak, ordering for us.
"For sure."
Young Leonardo walked away do make out drinks, finally breaking the trance we were all in. Staring around, I familiarize myself with the place. Taking in all the fun vibes this place brings. The crowd of dancing people are jumping in the air, singing along with Gangnam Style by PSY. The booths were almost all taken, beautiful girls and handsome guys all in their element, presenting comfort and confidence. As for the VIP area, I can't see inside, there a circular half wall, whose purpose is to block the view from everyone who isn't fortunate to step inside. Also, the two skyscrapers of men who are just outside the door, make me wonder why so much privacy.
The cute bartender is chatting up with Melody when I turn to face my friends. Grabbing a shot we all click the glass and down it. The burning sensation of the vodka makes my nose scrunch.
"Hey there cutie."
I turn around to face a very cute, suited man. His piercing blue eyes bore over me in amusement. I give him a smile before rudely turning back around without saying a word back to him.
"Ah, not much of a talker huh." He steps closer to me, giving me a whiff of his old spice cologne.
I turn turn around to face him, "I don't talk to strangers." I said, taking my second shot.
Waving at a blue haired bartender, "can I get a Blue Lagoon please." I place a $20 on the table.
"That's quite fancy. The drink says a lot about the girl." He bends near me waving another bartender over.
"Let me get two shots." He hands the man two twenties.
"Just so you know, I don't know what the drink I got says about anyone because it's my first time trying it." I tell him, nodding at the bartender who just handed me my drink.
I take a sip of the very pretty drink, I almost felt back on my ass by how strong it is. Grabbing the strangers arm to stable myself, I force my eyes to open.
"Too strong?" His smirk makes him look ten times hotter.
Removing my hand from him, I take another sip but this time I mask the taste.
"Yeah, I didn't think it would be this strong. I mostly got it because it looked pretty on the picture." Looking down at my drink, I play with my straw.
"Oh I see. My mistake then, you're not what I thought." Turning around to grab both shots, he hands me one.
"Cheers." His smile at me, bring the drink to his mouth before downing it without making a face.
Just as quickly as I took the shot, I felt a wave of nausea. Covering my mouth as if I'm prohibiting the bile to rise.
"Are you okay? You look a bit green." He places a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah sorry, I don't tend to drink much and I've hand two double shots, a couple of sips from my drink and now your shot too."
"Maybe we can go find a booth to sit down, so you can calm down."
"Oh, no. I'm here with friends," I turn to look for my friends who were near me not along ago. I can't find them. "Yeah, I lost them. I need to go look for them, but thank you for the shot." Giving him a quick smile, I make my way tot he dance floor.
Squeezing myself through the crow of people, I spot Tina dancing with some guy. Not wanting to approach her, I continue my search for Alyssa and Melody. Everyone here is having a lot of fun. Girls dancing on guys, drinks in hands, sweaty bodies, couples making out, you name it. The vibes are amazing here.
I spot Melody from afar dancing with someone tall, he looks good even from where I'm standing. Stopping in my tracks as I got closer. The all too familiar man is grabbing on her ass while she's placing small kisses on his jaw and neck. Suddenly the bile I had managed to contain was back in my throat.
Frozen in place, I watch my friend touch Michael's arm. Bring his mouth to his ear, he whispered something to here. She nods her head and walks away. Both of our eyes meet and I had to pinch myself to break away. Michael slowly walks towards me and I try to make a run for it in the other direction but he's faster. Grabbing my hand, he pulls me towards him, allowing me to take in his scent.
"Let me go." Failing to push myself away.
"What are you doing here, Maia?" His voice is right on my ear, sending me goosebumps.
I managed to stare at him, "partying, what else would I be doing in a club." My voice is full of attitude.
"Mhm, and you thought it was a good idea to come here looking like that?" He takes a step back so he can filling take in my appearance.
"I can wear whatever I want." I clipped at him. Who does he think he is judging my clothes.
He licks him bottom lip, and for a second the corner of his mouth curled into a smirk but just as quickly his face went back to serious. "I've already spotted at least three guys looking at you, checking you out."
"Good. Point them out so I can go say hi. Maybe the will buy me a drink." I make sure too look around, trying to find who they were. The grip on my hand gets tight, not enough to hurt me but enough to notice his tension or maybe anger.
"Not unless you want me to beat them to a pulp." His jaw clenched and his one hand is in a tight fist, turning his knocks white.
"I'll let you know, A handsome guy already bought me a drink." I take a sip of my Blue Lagoon, batting my eyelashes at the sweet but strong drink.
Michael gives me a expressionless look before walking away, leaving me feeling cold and alone. Before I can even try to get another word out he is already disappearing into the crowd. But I do see Melody walking back with two drink in hands. Her eyes scan around the dance floor looking for Michael I assume.
"Hey Mel, looking for someone?" I try to contain an eye roll.
"Oh Maia, hi. Yeah, I was dancing with this really hot guy that goes to our school. Did you see where he went?" Her eyes still searching the dance floor.
"Yeah Michael went that way," I point her in the direction he had walked off too. I don't wish to see them together but I'm not not going to get in their way either.
"Oh! So that's his name? He's cute right?" Her pretty smiles is genuine, which makes my heart hurt. Surly she can't have feelings for him, I mean she just met him. They've only shared a few kisses. I can feel a knot forming in my throat.
"Super. Anyways, do you know where Alyssa is?"
"Yeah, I had seen her on the booth we got. Let's go."
We both make our way to the booth in silence. I can't help but feel awkward. I really like Melody, she's an amazing friend but seeing her all over Michael made me jealous. I hate the way he makes me feel. Im well aware that I have no place feeling any type of jealously over someone who's not mine and I shouldn't feel bitter that my friend was touching him either.
The booth soon comes into view. Sitting down laughing is my blue haired best friend. Next to Alyssa is Ray, who smiles as soon as he see us. He looks extra good tonight, his stubbles make him look older than he actually his and his usually messy dark brown hair is nicely combed back. His black jeans and navy blue dress shirt comes to view when he stand up to greet Melody and I. His cologne entering my nostrils, nearly makes me roll my eyes back at how delicious he smells. He's a good looking lad, but he is not Michael.
Breaking up from his friendly hug, I noticed Alyssa eyeing him like he is her next pray. Understanding her look of hunger for the guy, I make a mental note to not even give him the time of day. He's all hers. I don't know Ray that well. He has been at probably two parties that I've attended, and has joined our small group another two times also. Our interactions have been nothing but small talk really so my only opinions on him is that he is friendly and super cute.
"I was looking everywhere for you." I pass Alyssa my blue lagoon drink for her to try.
"I've been here since I found Ray." Taking a sip through the straw, she scrunches her nose at the disgusting taste. "That's gross."
Taking my half done drink back, we all take a sit at the booth. "Yeah, I got it because it looked pretty."
"Not everything that's pretty is worth it." Tina's irritating voice came from behind me. Taking a seat next to Ray and sipping her Mojito.
I suppressed an eye roll. Chugging the rest of my drink in one go, I excused myself to get another one.
Walking back to the bar felt longer than it is. Maybe the impulsive decision to chug the strong drink wasn't smart. I'm feeling a bit light headed. I'm tipsy now. Slamming my shoulders into every stranger I've had contact with, I finally made it to the bar. Waving down the bartender and asking for two shots of tequila and a bunch of limes.
While I wait for my drink, I pull out my phone form my purse and check my notifications. I have three unread messages. I open one from one of the girls that were suppose to meet us here, saying that her and her friend weren't going to make it tonight. The other two were from Trashdad.
Trashdad: Hey baby. I miss you. I would appreciate it if you answered your phone. I just wanna know how you are.
Trashdad: I'm getting aggravated from the fact you're ignoring me. Don't make me come get you.
Feeling all the blood drain from my body, I shut the phone screen off and threw the phone inside my purse. I didn't feel Michael's hand on my back as I grab of of the shot glasses and down the burning liquid. I jumped out of my skin when his lips touch my ear.
"Who was that?" He whispered loud enough for me to hear him over the music. His hand still touching the small of my back.
Trying to hide my fear of him possibly knowing anything about my stepdad, I turned to face him. Crossing my arms to my chest. "Why are you looking at my messages or rather my phone." I snapped.
"It came to view while you was reading the text. It was inevitable. I'll ask you once again, who was that and why is he so mad that you don't answer him?" His voice was firm, no hint of him playing or joking around but yet his hand gently touched my cheek.
Taking a well needed deep breath, I grow irritated. His mix signals only play with my heart. He fucks me and than stops talking to me. I had to see him fuck and make out with countless girls. He got mad at me over the fact that I was a virgin when we had sex. He kisses me and than walks away like it meant nothing and than at the same time his kisses are filled with passion and lust. His hands have always been genial on my skin. He made sure not to hurt me when we fucked. He has been there when the whole Danny thing happen, I cried on his chest and he's here now, with worry in his eyes about the potential threat the person on the text can be to me. Michael is good at hiding his feelings, but I see it.
"It's non of your fucking business." I slapped his hand away from my face and bolted away from him but not before downing my second tequila shot.
I made my way to the dance floor. Michael hot on my trail. Grabbing my arm he swings me around to face him, "you really enjoy giving me a hard time, huh." The grip on my arm is hard enough for me not to be able to break away. Giving him my famous eye roll, "bold of you to say that. You've done nothing but make my life hard. Can you fuck off now?"
His face went from serious to a all to beautiful smile, making my heart clench and fill with warmth. He removes his hands from my arm but not removing his eyes from mine. "What are you hiding hermosa?"
Fighting a smile, I bite my bottom lip.
"Me? Nothing. But tell me, what are you hiding? Maybe the fact that you enjoy playing with my feelings?" I tired, but my voice cracked anyways.
The smile was whipped away from his face the second those words left my lips. His eyes grew dark and his aura darkened too.
"I never gave you false hopes. I don't remember promising you anything either. You knew who I was since day one. You crawled on my bed willingly and I didn't even have to beg you."
I saw red. With one heated tear rolling down my cheek and my brain clouded by his hurtful words, I turned on my heels speed walking into the cloud of people dancing. Bumping once again into every single person, I sense Michael after me. I want him to hurt as much as I am. I bump into a tall, very cute, expensive suit older man. His eyes landed on me and gifted me a smile. That smile was all I needed to make the stupid decision to make out with this stranger. So I grabbed his face with both of my hands, tiptoed, and planted a kiss on his lips.
The strangers hand quickly made its way to my ass but I didn't care. Shit, I'll let him take me here if that mean giving Michael a taste of his own medicine. However, I didn't anticipate his reaction would be so extreme. One second I'm kissing the stranger with my ass being grabbed and the next the innocent man is pulling away from me, his hands up in defeat, and a gum aiming at his head. My eyes almost fell out of its sockets when I realized who was holding the gum.
"Fucking touch her again and I will shoot you between the eyes."
