Maia
For the past hour, my friends and I have been dancing until our legs were tired and we decided to sit by the leather booth in the corner of the club. It's safe to say that Linda has gotten along with both Alyssa and Melody. I had no doubt she would charm them, as her personality makes her very likable.
Our drinks make a cling nose as all four glasses smack against each other for the sake of a cheers.
"Are you ladies ready for another hour of dancing?" Alyssa yells, her tone almost child like.
"Yess!" We all say in union.
Downing the rest of my drink, I get up to follow the girls. Our body's sway left and right and our laughter muted by the loud music. It doesn't take long before I feel a heavy hand on my side, startling me. My head snaps to my right to see a vaguely familiar face.
"Hey, nice to see you again." The tall master piece of a man says to me. His voice husky and the smell of whisky filling my nostrils.
"Oh, hi. You're that dude I saw once in campus. The one who broke my phone." I half joke.
His head hangs back when he lets out a sexy laugh, "that would be me. I don't know your phone broke or else I would of given you mine for the inconvenience."
Something about his words makes me blush, thankfully the club lights won't tell on me.
"Don't worry about, I needed a new phone anyways." Not a complete lie but I would of rather not had to waste the time and money on a phone.
"Well, wanna dance?" His breath tickles the skin underneath my ear causing goosebumps all over my skin.
I nod and send him a smile. Not long after our body's start to move in sync.

"All I'm saying is that if the guy was really interested in you he wouldn't have left you alone." Linda argues back with Melody who is telling the story about Michael kissing her then leaving her hanging.
To say I'm annoyed would be an understatement. I was hoping Melody would get over Michael by now. I can feel my blood boil every time she talks about how cute and hot he is and how he kisses so good. Alyssas eyes haven't left me either, I know she's silently condemning me for not telling Melody the truth. In all fairness what can I even say? It's not like Michael and I are official or even a thing really. He was the guy that took my virginity yes, and we also fucked a second time in his car but if anything it seems like I'm just another hook up. Also, even thinking about him and our situation makes me sad. So, sue me for not wanting to speak about it with someone who is also melting for the guy.
"Anyways, who was that you were dancing with Maia?" Alyssa speaks, killing the back and fourth the girls were having.
"Oh, I didn't catch his name but I met him once in campus when he bumped into me." I say, taking a gulp of my third drink of the night.
"Oh I saw him from the back, seemed hot." Linda adds.
"Yeah, he's cute but I'm interested in someone else."
As soon as those words left my mouth, I wanted to kick myself. And as expected all eyes were on me and the excitement in both Melody's and Linda's face tells me I made the biggest mistake of my life
"Oh my God, you have to tell us who's the lucky guy!" Melody squeaks out, making me cringe.
"We really need to know Maia! Tell us the dirty details." Linda entwines her fingers together and looks at me with puppy eyes.
I divert my gaze to Alyssa, who's head is now staring at the ceiling lights.
I clear my throat before speaking my truth, "well, there's not much to tell. I'm nothing more then a hookup to him. I mean, he's not relationship material I guess."
Honestly, it makes me sad to admit those words but it's better then to be in denial. I could only hope that one day Michael will wake up and decide he want to stop fucking around and have something serious with me. Actually, thinking about that nearly makes me laugh.
"You shouldn't give up. I once dated someone who didn't do relationships and had major commitment issues but I proved to him it would be worth it to give us a try and he did. Maybe your guy will do the same." Linda reaches for my hand in an attempt to console me.
"Wow, what happened with you guys?" I ask, feeling bad for her when I look at the sadness in her eyes.
Linda let's go of my hands and sits up straight. Taking a second before she answers. "He's the one that got away."
With that, we all change the topic to happier subjects. We kept drinking and laughing and bonding. I'd say this night was perfect but from the corner of my eye I saw an all too familiar face. A face that's now whispering into Sophia's ear. My face starts to feel hot and my eyes begin to sting.
Not wanting my happy friends to see me upset, I excuse myself to the bathroom. Declining when Melody asks if I want her to go with me. I just need a minute to myself. Rushing to get out of here, I make my way outside instead of the bathroom. Fresh air should help me better, it better.
I hug myself as the chilly air hits my body. The streets of new York are full of cars and people walking. This city is always alive, full of mostly happy people who enjoy their lives or at least they mask their unhappiness really good.
Unhappiness.. that's what I've been feeling my whole life. My whole life has always been about masking my true emotions for everyone's sake. A life where all I did was pretend like my family was a happy one and everything was perfectly fine.
Taking in a deep breath, I start to make my way inside. I decided to make a quick stop to the bathroom after all to fix myself, but my night is just about to get more sour as Sophia comes to view, standing in front of the sink, applying more lipgloss.
"It seems like I can't get rid of you." She clips, looking at me through the mirror.
"Is that a threat?" I make my way to the sick furthest from her. Her head snaps to the side, her eyes narrowing at me before she lets out a dry chuckle and exit the bathroom.
Splashing cold water on my face, I give myself a mental pep talk; I will not let Michael or Sophia ruin my night. I will put my big girl pants on and face the world. Plus, if he wants to play games, I can play too.
Determined, I make my way to the bar. Ordering 5 tequila shots, taking one shot now and taking the other four to where my friends are still sitting laughing.
"Got us all shots! Let's take it and go back to dancing." I hand each one a shot.
"Bottoms up, bitches!" Alyssa says.
All four of us down the burning liquid and laugh our way to the dance floor. I ignore the burning set of eyes I have on me. I don't bother to look because I already know who it is. Dancing with my girls, I look around hoping to find any guy I can dance with. I'm about to get real petty.
Thanking the gods when I see the same cute guy from earlier. I make my way towards him.
"Want to dance with me again?" I ask while pulling him closer to me.
"How can I reject such a pretty girl." Turning me so my ass is facing his front, his hands holding each side of my hips.
Sensually dancing on him to the beat of Love Is A Bitch by Two Feet. My eyes without warning find Michael's, who's doing nothing to hide how pissed he is but I don't care. If he want to play games with me I'll show him how well I can play too.
A few more songs pass by and I'm enjoying dancing with this stranger. Realizing I don't know his name, I ask.
"I just realized, we have been dancing but I still don't know your name."
"His name is Mark."
Both Mark and I separate from each other on insisting to face Michael's hard face. If looks could kill, I'd say both Mark and I would be dead in seconds.
" I didn't ask you, did I?" I roll my eyes.
"Might want to watch the attitude before I spank you for it."
I'm ashamed to admit how much I want to clench my thighs together to feel some sort of pressure that'll ease the tension he just created with those words.
"Seems like you both know each other," Mark comments, reminding me his here too.
"Unfortunately." I tell him.
Michael let's out a chuckle before taking a step closer to me, "Since when do you know her?" His question is clearly for Mark but his eyes stay on me.
"I don't. We met a bit ago in your campus, I bumped into her and we saw each other here and just danced. I wouldn't say I know her." Marks reply was dry, making him sound uninterested. For some reason, it gets me mad.
I turn to look at mark with an eyebrow raised and my eyes narrowing at him, "geez don't sound too excited."
He just lets out a laugh and sends me a wink.
Michael's eyes are staring holes between Mark and I.
"Let's go."
I stare at him as if he grew three heads.
"Did I stutter? Let's go." He demands.
"Aren't you busy with Sophia?"
Without speaking Michael goes to grab my arm but I moved quickly before he could. Holding onto Marks arm for support, I realized that was a bad idea when I practically see smoke coming out of Michael's ears.
So just to make everything worst for myself, I pull on Marks arm, tippy toed, and planted a kiss on his lips.
