Chereads / Loving my imperfect husband / Chapter 3 - She got misunderstood again

Chapter 3 - She got misunderstood again

The loud sound of music filled the air as they walked in. It was obtrusive that the party has begun. Everyone was happy to see Rose back home.

Soon she started introducing Nora to a few persons who were close to her.

Finally they went to see the celebrant who was not in the hall.

As soon as the door was opened, Nora peeked at the person who didn't look as old as she thought.

Rose's mum was still wearing makeup when they came in.

After the normal pleasantries between mother and child, Rose finally introduced Nora to her mum who in turn was happy to see her.

They finally went to the hall, found a table and sat down.

Rose attention was sought for from time to time.

Nora was not really the party type so after staying for a while, she found the place too noisy and decided to stroll around and observe the surroundings since Rose was too busy socialising with old friends, she haven't seen in years.

She went out of the gate and caught a glimpse of a beautiful flower not far away. She went to fiddle with it and got attracted by something else she saw, she subconsciously walked very far from Rose's house. She felt the phone in her bag vibrate and looked to see a message from Rose asking about her whereabouts, she immediately replied that she was just walking around and would be back in a jiffy. She turned and started walking back only to realise that she had missed her way.

She stopped for a while and looked around to see if there was any indication of where she was and that was when her eyes caught a little board hung on a gate written on which was "home teacher wanted. Apply in here or send application to 080******".

She looked at it for a while and decided to give it a try, she would find her way back later.

She dressed her cloth and rang the bell on the building.

A cold faced man opened the door for her and asked her what she came for without taking another look at her or the clothes she was putting on.

She told him her intentions and he looked at her again. The look on his face was like that of someone who was suspecting the other person.

He, however, let her in and took her to a room where a lady was seated, said something to the lady and left.

The lady dialed a number on the telephone that was on her desk.

Inside the main building,

Mrs. brown was still confused about why  her boss suddenly agreed to the children studying at home so she decided to ask again. "Do you really want to do this? Is anything the matter? you can actually share with..."she asked.

"Just do as the children said. I won't regret this. Whenever they are ready to go back to school, they will, so let's just do this for now." her boss said.

"Okay I've put a note outside I'll be putting it online now." Mrs. Brown informed.

Just then the telephone inside rang. Knowing it was the receptionist, Mrs Brown wanted to take it but Ivy stopped her.

"Go about your other business, I'll take the call."

After receiving the call, she was astonished, didn't Mrs. Brown say that she put that note just now.

How possible is it that someone had already come for the job?

Nevertheless she still turned to her.

"Someone came for the job already meaning, it isn't a bad decision."

Mrs. Brown wasn't left out in the surprise feeling as she was also surprised.

"Go see the visitor. I'm going upstairs to rest." Ivy said and went upstairs.

Mrs. Brown went to interview the lady.

Nora sat in the empty room trying her best to draft an application letter right there as she didn't have time to do so before now.

Few seconds after she was done, the interviewer came in. She gave her the same look the gate man had given her and Nora noticed that something was amiss. She didn't think much about it and faced the interviewer who started the normal procedure. After asking her name and few other questions, the I interviewer asked her what time she saw the message and when she wrote the letter. The first thing that came to Nora's mind was to lie and say that she saw it yesterday but she waived it and decided to say the truth.

"I saw it just now while going to a friend's place and I wrote the letter.... at her place."

She still lied anyways since she wouldn't tell her she wrote the application here.

Mrs. Brown looked at her again seeing that there were no flaws in her eyes, she finally asked the last question.

"Why do you think that this job should be given to you?"

Nora answered the tricky question smartly which marvelled Mrs. Brown so she finally decided to give her the job.

"Congratulations you have..." Mrs Brown was about to tell her that she had been considered for the job when her phone beeped, she looked to see a message from Ivy.

[If you're done and you think she is okay for the job send her to me before accepting her.]

Ivy thought this had to do with her children so she had to be careful. Even though she trusted Mrs. Brown, there are still things that had to be decided by herself.

"Don't rejoice yet, you still have to meet one more person" Mrs. Brown said to Nora who was already smiling at her previous words.

Nora who was smiling widely frowned a bit and asked

"Are you talking about the children?" She was more relaxed talking with this person because of the way she related with her while asking her questions.

Mrs. Brown came to a realisation and hit her head slightly.

"That means you have even more people to meet before you are sure of the job." she said.

The smile on her face was about to go off when Mrs. Brown interrupted.

"You don't have to think too much, she is a good lady and I bet she will like you as soon as she sees you.

As for the children, they can be melodramatic at times and so are unpredictable. For example, they just woke up one day and decided that they didn't want to go to schoĺol anymore and their mother just had to agree with them.

" You are not their mother?"  Nora realised something and asked.

She was finding herself so free around this woman.

"No I'm not" Mrs. Brown smiled at her.

"I'm their nanny and also the chief housekeeper here so I guess we'll be co workers soon."

Nora smiled back.

"Thanks ma"

She found herself grateful

"Linda, not Ma"

The elderly woman that didn't want to be called ma corrected.

Nora smiled, she was not brought up to call elderly ones by their names and was still trying to learn how to, so she just smiled.

In no time she was brought to see Ivy.

When their eyes met, the atmosphere was awkward before Ivy turned to Mrs. Brown and asked

"Where did u get this black thing from?"

Linda who didn't understand the reason for both the tensed atmosphere and the question but had to answer the question said flatly

"She came for the.."

"And you think she's qualified to teach my children." Ivy cut in.

"Forget about her looks, she has something upstairs" Linda tried to defend.

"I thought you had the ability to differentiate between a good person and a bad person as soon as you see them" Ivy said seriously.

"Ma I... "

")))Just leave!!"

Ivy yelled at Linda who immediately scurried off leaving Nora with Ivy.

She still could not decipher what the real situation was so she just left.

Ivy now turned to Nora with a smirk.

"Perfect planner don't you think you gave yourself off by coming here as soon as the note was put up there.

Let me guess, you were too desperate and failed to consider that while drafting your plan or while executing it"
