"So Akatone, how did Nora get sick?" Eden was quick to ask the reason for Nora's condition.
Because she's an idiot.
"She got contacted by a god, and her body couldn't handle the presence of them, so when she woke up she was sick." I explained, in all honesty if not for my ability I would have not believed her.
"Do you know the god that contacted her?" Eden's tone shifted; it was still sweet sounding but it was colder in a way.
"I do. I just don't feel like it's my place to say." That came out a little bitter, but Eden just smiled and nodded.
"And what about you Akatone? Are you still looking for a cure?" Now she's getting into odd territory.
"I don't see why I'd stop." I could tell she took my answer curtly. I didn't really care though.
"If I pushed you out of your comfort zone, you could have just said so." I mumbled a small apology before getting up and going to grab my aruba blue coat. "And you plan to leave Nora here and alone?" I usually do.
"She's 14 years old, she shouldn't need a babysitter Eden, but since you're so insistent, can't you stay here with her? I have something to get done and it can't be ignored for long, the god of this city can only be patient for so long."
"Oh, so it's true you've become the champion of Akai? Isn't that nice, and yes I can watch her. Hurry up and get out of here." Eden spoke jokingly, a smile played on my lips. It had been awhile since Eden last visited the Romanian styled city or it's been a while since she's visited Nora.
Walking out of the butterfly designed doors of the house I made my way to the entrance of the city. Eden was nice to have around, she used to take care of Nora when she was younger and depending if my parents were busy she'd take care of me sometimes too.
____________
"So why is this mission so important?" I asked the question out loud even if I really didn't need to.
'You will need to get information on Nkri's stars recent activities, they might have the answer I need. If need be though I can send someone else.'
"No, I should be fine. What happens if I get caught?"
'I doubt you will, filius, a snap of your fingers and their own shadows betray them, but just to give you an answer, if you do get caught, kill them. Understood?'
"Understood."
Once Akai's presence left my body a cold feeling rushed over me, shivering slightly, I continued walking until I eventually came toward Flumen Sanguinis, The River of Blood. Nkri's star was only about 4 miles out from here, though most of their important conferences take place underground, I hope that there are some gossip type people there.
The further I walked the more eary the forest around me got, Nkri's star was no place for a demi-god like me, not in the slightest. Most demi-gods here are taken by force and their mortal parents are killed to insure that there's no plotting against them, yet here I stand.
Though if I were to get into a fight it would be very upsetting for the environment, the forest is quite beautiful despite how dangerous it is, the color of the grass was a gorgeous cherry red, the bark of the trees rested as white with shades of gray, while the leaves hung proud from the branches as different shades of red and pink. Truly a sight to see.
I walked even further and I heard the screaming of those who are facing the three year trials. Three years of torture, killing, and, trauma. I know this is gonna play out.
_____________
Maybe I'll have Akai send Nexus next time.
I took my rapier out of the throat of the agent of Nkri and looked around me, 15 bodies laid dead on the ground and their blood stained the beautiful bark of the trees, and I stood with a red stained scroll in my right hand.
'You failed to sneak.'
'I still got the information.' I failed successfully.
'That I'll give you that but we are working on your sneaking when you get back to the city. That is not a question.'
I sighed to myself as I felt the God of Shadows presence leave me, more training. Isn't that fun? I should leave before more agents come up from the underground compound, turning around I made my way to the direction I came from and sprinted southeast toward the direction of the City of Shadows.
______________
With heavy breaths I walked toward the Romanian styled gate that stood proud as entrance to the City of Shadows, I looked at the scroll that I still gripped firmly in my hand, the agents of Nkri had said something about having to find more demi-gods to enslave because of the massacre that took place eight years ago. Nkri's star was under a major threat and they could do nothing because it had happened so suddenly, one second they were doing their routine the next second they were laying in a puddle of their own blood. So the ones being tortured took this to their advantage and escaped the underground compound and since then Nkri's star has been trying to recover the ranks they lost.
Taking in a small breath and looking towards the dark clouded sky, I closed my eyes only to see it all.
