Rose and Rilili led me down to some dark place that they referred to as the 'watch room'. I made sure not to make any noise and I feel like I might be the only one who is trying to not get caught. We were crouching for some reason and my back was starting to ache.
"What are you freaks doing here." someone, a male, whispered from behind me.
I turned around to look at the boy who was dressed in clothes nearly the same as what I had on. He stood upright unlike us and his downcast gaze at me made me stand as well just to show him I was much taller than he was. He was staring straight into my eyes like he wanted to look at my soul and I stared back at him; with less intensity. I looked away quickly though because it felt uncomfortable to stare at a stranger who was not a female. Rose walked to him slowly and quietly; the quietest I've heard her walk. The boy looked at Rose with a frown while she and Rilili were smiling nervously at the boy.
"And why are you with the Minister's superman?" the boy asked again this time jerking his head in my direction.
He had very sharp and alluring features that most fairy makes don't possess; me as exception. Come to think of it, if the reflection of myself that I used to see in Blooming Lake was accurate then this boy and I are very alike.
"Woah....!" Rilili whisper screamed,"It's like you guys are twins or something."
"I know right." Rose agreed looking back and forth between us.
The boy and I looked at each other again staring long and hard. He pouted his lips as if he now agreed that we are similar and I extended my hand towards him so we could greet each other. He just stared at my hand like it was some kind of disgusting creature and I frowned at him.
"Yeah right! I'm way more handsome than Mr Superman here." he said rather too loud.
"Who's there?!"
We all started to panic when we heard the unfamiliar voice. I think I panicked the most because my wings suddenly emerged, also creating a loud flapping sound that made the strange boy want to run away but Rose caught him and pushed him into a room on the right and Rilili followed. I went too but couldn't get through the door because of my wings that had become rigid from the panic I was feeling. A number of footsteps and mumbles could be heard coming from the other side of the corridor and I had to think fast.
Magic! I will have to...Oooo what's that? I noticed a small crack on the wall and walked towards it. I wonder if I can still shrink....Ahh yes. I made myself the size of an ant and flew into the crack. The men who came in search of the source of the noise left after seeing that no on was on the corridor but the door to where the girls and that boy are hiding is what I am worried about now. Rilili had not closed it and one of the men returned to check if there was anyone there.
I could see their panicked faces so I used my magic to make the small room's entrance become a wall.
"What the hell!" the man was puzzled.
He swung the door around a few times as he tried to decipher what was happening.
"Hey yo Joe!" he called out to his friend,"Come check this out!"
"What's up?" the other man asked coming to stand next his friend.
"Look at this. The pit up a door here even though there's a wall."
"How is it even hinged?" Joe asked also swinging the door around,"I've never seen it here."
"Maybe it's recent and they just want to close this door or something."
"But why would they leave the door here? And how is it hinged?!"
The two men continued their little talk but I have no time to just watch them. At last the finally left and I removed the wall and saw how scared the others looked as they watched the wall disappear. The looked around not knowing where I was and I enjoyed seeing their puzzled expressions. I came out from the crack in my shrunken form and then gradually became big again. The boy was about to bolt away from the corridor but I made a wall there so he couldn't go anywhere.
"Ray, relax he is a....a friend." Rilili said rather fearfully.
"Fri....friend? He's a freak! More freakish than you!" Ray said.
I tried to retract my wings but I couldn't get them to do so. How was I going to move around?
"My wings won't go back." I said voicing my worry.
Ray looked particularly concerned about that and I could tell from the vacant look in his eyes that he was trying to figure out how to help me out.
"What are you?" he asked thoughtfully looking me up and down.
"A fairy." I answered.
"I thought fairies are only hot ladies." he stated and I smiled at him not understanding what exactly he meant by 'hot'.
Did it mean the ladies is on fire? If so then we do have the flame fairies but they are only on fire when they are angry and they aren't all females though the males are few.
"I think I have an idea." Ray said clapping his hands together quietly,"Do you trust me enough to let me touch you? Your wings specifically?"
No I don't. A few seconds ago he was looking at me fearfully and now he is smiling at me. He looks like a traitor and more so a murderer.
"Okay guys, let's get rid of the footage first before you start arguing and trying to persuade each other." Rose said in a whisper.
She touched the wall I had made as if checking if she wasn't imagining it. We walked in the direction away from the wall, where we had been going before Ray had appeared. There was a very dark room at the end of the corridor that had some concentrated bright light coming from many TVs. There was no one inside so Rilili quickly did what she had come to do and she said she also disabled the cameras so we wouldn't be seen when we went back to our room.
Ray tapped my shoulder suddenly and I nearly burnt him as my body heats up and glows when I feel threatened. He had luckily removed his hand before the heat could reach him.
"Are you ready?" he asked frowning deeply with concern.
"No." I responded honestly.
"Come on man....I don't bite."
"With how blunt your teeth are of course you can't bite. Just tell me what you plan to do and I'll do it myself."
"Alright then. Take down the wall first." he said sighing.
"I can hear someone coming here." I said hearing a pair of footsteps.
"Do it quickly before they see." he said in a panic and I did so.
It was a female wearing something that strongly resembled leather but it didn't smell like it. She was having a partial covering over her upper face that made her look like a black cat. She stopped walking when she laid her eyes on me and smiled in way that our own smiled when they were ready to mate. At the same time I felt someone's hands on my wings and my body heated up. It was Ray and he flinched when he felt the heat reach him but he looked at me like he was asking me to not burn him. I tried to relax and he shot me a smile as if acknowledging my efforts.
"Wow! I totally love that costume!" the cat girl said excitedly quickly clicking her way to where Ray and I stood.
Costume? What's that?
"Your own is lit." Ray said with a smile as he continued touching and brushing my wings.
"They look so real." She continued in disbelief, holding up her hands to her mouth,"Can I touch them?"
"No." came my quick answer and I glared at her but she just smiled at me again; the mating smile.
"That's alright. You have to come to the party as my date though and I'll cry if you say no." she said pointing at me accusingly.
That is exactly what I want to say. I looked at her waist where a whip was fastened to her belt. She must have noticed I was looking at her waist because she suddenly swayed her hips and turned into show me her back side.
"Do you have an itch?" I asked confused.
Her body slackened like her life force had been drained from her and I heard my friends laugh; friends includes Ray. I think I can trust him now.
"Oh come on!" the girl complained turning around to look at me like I had stolen from her,"Isn't it obvious I'm hitting on you?!"
Hitting on me? She isn't hitting me.
"No." I said then slapped Ray's shoulder to demonstrate to her what hitting is supposed to look like,"This is hitting."
