ROSELLE'S P.O.V
Waking up to my alarm this early isn't always the nicest thing, but waking up this early when you barely slept is worse.
I groaned as I switch the alarm off, sitting up on the bed as I stared blankly at my cream-colored wall.
The men in my life are making my life look miserable, why would Noah like me?
There is nothing special about me.
I sighed standing up lazily as I prepared to get ready for work with a splitting headache, today is going to be a really long day, I can feel it.
It took me close to 30 minutes to get ready which is unlike me, but I feel so tired and weak.
Walking out of the room, I'm met with the sound of my parents' voices.
"Don't you think we should tell her?" my dad asked.
"And what, have her leave?" my mum snapped, and I furrowed my eyebrows confused on what they are talking about.
"I just think it's best we come clean" my dad said sighing and was interrupted by the ring of my phone making me curse.
"Rose" my mum called out as I finally entered the lounge where they were.
"Good morning" I greeted looking at how tensed they seem to be.
Looking at the still ringing phone, I'm met with Alexander's name flashing on my phone.
"Hello" I said as I picked it up.
"Good morning, Rose, I'm sorry to disturb you this early, Mr. King told me to inform you that you should go to the office straight and not to his house" she said.
"Did he tell you why and why he didn't just call me himself?" I asked hurriedly.
"All these questions I have no answer to Rose" she said playfully, and I thanked her before hanging up.
I stared confused at the phone, why doesn't he want me to come in today, did he change his mind, is he planning to fire me?
"Is everything okay Rose?" my mum asked, and I looked at her nodding distractedly.
"Are you sure, you seem a little out of it" my dad asked.
"I'm fine, what were you talking about, is there something I should know?" I asked looking from my mum to my dad who was trying to avoid eye contact at every cost.
"It's nothing you should worry about, honey, aren't you late for work?" mum asked as she changed the subject and it totally worked on me as I checked the time, 6:15am, I should probably be happy he told me to head to his office, if not I'd have been late.
"I would be if I don't leave now" I said smiling slightly as I kissed my mum on the cheek and hugged my suspiciously quiet dad before rushing to take the car key and leaving, it's kind of bright outside already so I won't have a problem driving.
It took me a while to get to the office due to traffic but thankfully I was still five minutes early.
Rushing upstairs, I saw Alex and waved at her.
"Good morning Rose, did you by any chance know what's going on with the boss?" she asked making me stop in front of her desk.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"He's grumpier than usual today" she said.
Is it because of me?
"Probably a bad morning or something" I said as I smiled nervously but stopped when I saw the slightly wide eyes of Alexa staring at something behind me.
Slowly I turned to look behind me and I'm met with the towering figure of my boss, looking at us like he's ready to burst.
"Good morning, sir" I said nervously avoiding eye contact.
"Morning, in my office now" he said before walking away.
I looked to Alex for support, but she just shrugged helplessly before going back to her work. I walked after him silently as we entered his office, him going to his sit facing me squarely as I stood nervously by the door.
"Come on in, I don't bite" he said, and it sounded like he was amused but I'm not about to look up and confirm.
"I didn't come late" I said as I moved a little bit closer to his table.
"I never said you did" he said curtly.
"Okay" I said.
"Okay" he said repeating after me, making me look up at him sharply as I narrowed my eyes at him.
"What?" he asked laughing a bit and I almost lost concentration but got a grip of myself last minute.
"I thought you were mad at me" I said quietly.
"And why would I be mad Roselle?" he asked raising an eyebrow.
"Erm, I kind of disrespected you yesterday" I said not knowing how to put it that I turned him down.
"No, you didn't, the only thing you did was turn me down" he said.
"Shouldn't you be mad and give me extra work or something" I said, not that I want him to be but that was what I expected.
"Do you want me to be?" he asked with a straight face.
"No" I said quickly.
"I'm just going to put in more effort and make you want me" he said simply making me blush.
"I thought you were angry with me when you told me not to show up at your house this morning, well you didn't tell me, you told Alexa to tell me" I said looking at him with accusing eyes and he just smiled brightly at me.
What's wrong with him?
"Does that worry you Roselle" he said teasingly.
"Absolutely not, why would it?" I said scoffing while rolling my eyes.
"And there's the fire hidden away" he whispered staring at me challengingly.
For a minute we both were quiet, I was lost, I want this man but is he someone I can have?
"I had to leave early" he said.
"Huh" I replied confused.
"I had to leave early, and I didn't call you myself because I wanted to see if me not calling you directly will cause any type of reaction from you, and it did" he said smirking.
"It didn't" I defended.
"OH, it did, you were ready to tear me into two if you had the chance just now" he replied.
"That's a lie, I just asked as a responsible personal assistant" I said raising my voice defensively.
"Okay" he said.
"I'm serious"
"I've heard you."
"Seriously" I yelled out again not even knowing when I got so close to him.
"You're the cutest thing I've set my eyes on today" he said standing up making me take a step back.
"I should get back to work" I said stammering as I tried to walk out of the office quickly but was stopped by his hand holding mine. I stared at him with wide eyes, and he just smiled at me, giving me a light kiss on the forehead before releasing me.
"You can get back to work now" he said walking back to his chair and ignoring me like he didn't just do what he did while I stood frozen on spot and blushing nonstop.
"Is there a problem Miss Grey?" he asked after a while making me jump and rush out of his office.
