Chapter 36 - Ghostly Visitors

"Kazuma, are you awake? Ne, ne, Kazuma…"

I awoke to the feeling of Megumin shaking my body and telling me to wake up. Judging by the voice and sense of urgency, I can deduce that she either wants me to accompany her to the toilet or she heard stuff go bump in the night.

"Toilet or ghost?"

"Both… That doll wasn't there before wasn't it?"

I looked at a creepy doll, strategically placed on the dressing table of our room. A beam of light shot out of my hand and a bunch of black shadows burst out of the doll.

"Yeah, it wasn't there before, Aqua and Darkness should be purifying the mansion right now, come on."

I held Megumin's hand and we both walked out of the room. If the situation were any different, I would probably be extremely scared. However, I've mastered the holy typed spell from learning Turn Undead and now I can shoot exorcising lasers like a freaking Pr*ton P*ck.

We walked through the halls of the mansion. It's dark and quiet, a perfect scene for any horror movie. Megumin held my hand tighter and pushed herself closer to me. It feels nice to have a girl depending yourself on you, kinda makes me understand why the hell do normie couple loves watching horror movies so much.

"Kazuma, how much further is it?"

"Don't worry, it's just down this hallway… Maybe,"

"Maybe?"

Fortunately for her, I was right. Unfortunately, a bunch of dolls were waiting for us there. It's not that much, there's only two to three of them. "Eep! Kazuma!"

"Yes, yes, Megaton Beam," I muttered while lazily shooting out a beam of purifying light.

"Megaton Beam?"

"Fake spell, to confuse my enemy. For example, 'Create Water'!" I held out my hand and a plume of fire shot out of it. "Confusing, right?"

"I-I see…" Megumin giggled a little at that. "You really like playing dirty do you?"

"Oi, I'm not a knight, I'm an adventurer."

Soon enough, we made it in front of a toilet. I made a bunch of Foxfire to accompany her and simply waited outside.

"Kazuma, are you there? Don't leave me, okay?"

"I won't,"

"You really, really won't leave me?"

"I won't,"

"If you leave me, I'm breaking up with you…"

I rolled my eyes and decided to hum a little song so she can hear me.

Gaze on a distant star for which you long to see

When the mind sheds her shackles, she will set her body free

No frame so fragile made it far on just a dream

'Til you dream, not of what you are, but what you want to be

It's a fan made song of a game I used to play back in my days as a shut in. It's not all that great, but the word dreams in the lyric fits the theme of Fantastic Dreamers nicely. At least, I think so…

"Ne, Kazuma… Is that a song from your world?"

"Yeah,"

"It sounds nice…"

After Megumin finished her business, we made our way through the corridors. It was a much more peaceful trek back to our room. Megumin also doesn't seem to be all that afraid of ghosts anymore. She didn't flinch all that much when things go bump.

Footsteps appeared from a door in the distance. I stopped in my tracks and listened.

"COME HERE YOU SPIRITS!!! FACE ME AND REPENT IN HELL!!!!"

"Yeah, it's Aqua," I muttered as my mad dog goddess burst out of the door and started throwing purifying spells left and right. "Good evening Aqua," I told her.

"Good evening Kazuma," she said with a sweet smile before returning to her massacre. "BURN IN HELL!!"

With that we returned back to our room and continued our peaceful(?) sleep as a couple.

---

Apparently the ghost of the young girl Anna, was very, very lonely in her mansion. So she invited her friends for a sleepover. However, her friends are a bunch of wild spirits that just love playing pranks on humans and here we are.

Or at least, that's what Aqua told me.

"Good morning, Kazuma sama," a voice called out to me.

It's Wiz, standing in front of me with a broom on her hands. "No need for honorifics, Wiz, just Kazuma is fine," I told her while staring at a tomb stone below her. Etched on the tombstone is the name of the young ghost girl living in the mansion.

"Thank you Kazuma," Wiz said before continue cleaning up the grave. "Since you're living here, may I ask you to clean up this spot everyday? It's alright if you won't, I can do it myself…"

"Don't worry, I'll be sure to do it, just tell Annie to give me a knock if I forgot, okay?"

Wiz smiled a little. "Thank you Kazuma and don't forget to talk about your adventures during dinner time okay? The child loves adventurer's stories,"

"Yes, Aqua told me so," I turned towards a silhouette of a young girl, even younger than Megumin, sitting on a branch above Wiz. I smiled and waved at her. She waved back at me before slowly fading away into nothing.

"Okay Wiz, I want to learn teleportation and more undead skills,"
