Chapter 1 - The little girl

Conan Edogawa finally found the last proof to make this case interesting. It was murder, but it looked like suicide. So Conan and his two friends looked everywhere to find this piece of truth. It wasn't much, but it was something to start. And Conan, with Heiji Hattori by his side, would totally finish this case with just a little evidence. The two looked at each other and smiled.
Don't bother bringing this case to the documents. It wasn't suicide.
Heiji said into the round of police officers.
What makes you so sure? There isn't any evidence for murder?
Inspector Megure replied. Conan and Heiji, again, smiled to each other and the third one with them showed Megure the evidence they just found. It was small. That's why they all didn't find it at first.
That is an cartridge case. We found it under the wardrobe...
The little girl said. Megure looked at it with shock. That turns the whole case upside-down.
But, why where you so sure this wasn't suicide?
The inspector asked and Heiji laughed.
Didn't you find it strange? The leg of the chair just broke without ever being used. And the little hole in the window? It could have been caused by a stone, but the stone had to be very small. And being able to throw a little stone so hard that it destroys glass... That's nearly impossible. So it had to be something different. Like a cartridge.
He said while going to the window and showing the little hole in it.
But, what does it have to do with the suicide?
An police officer asked.
Doesn't this leg look kinda strange?
Conan replied. He kneed by side that chair and looked at the broken leg it has.
It doesn't look natural... Like something else caused it to be broken.
He said. Megure again looked in shock. He finally understood what the three tried to tell him.
But how?
He asked.
Why didn't the victim defend himself...
He couldn't. He was knocked out. The murderer then put him on the chair and bound the string around his neck, then they shot at the leg of the chair trough the Window. They didn't have to do anything other that that. So they closed the door and went to sleep until the maid found him and screamed. Everyone inside this household had an key, so it didn't really matter if the room would be locked when she found him or not.
Heiji interrupted Megure.
But, the murderer didn't think about washing hands, or changing outfits. Didn't they?
The third one with the two detectives said and tapped the arm of an family member of the victim. They looked in shock and fear at the little girl tapping his arm.
Wh...what do you mean? I... I wouldn't know what the m... murderer would do?
He asked. It was the little brother of the victim.
Well... You can't deny once your arm got inspected. Your left-handed aren't you?
Conan replied while the little Girl stayed beside the man. What she shouldn't have. The man took the girl with his right hand and got an pistol with his left hand, which he hid behind his t-shirt, holding it onto her had. Conan and Heiji looked in shock, they didn't expect this to happen.
Sayuri!
Conan called. Sayuri Kyoka, the little girl, on the other hand didn't even look in fear. Conan wanted to shoot an football at the murderer who held her hostage, but the man loaded the gun.
Don't you dare move until I am away. Or I'll shot her!
He said. Sayuri began to laugh, what gave the man the goose. He looked shocked down to her. Why was she laughing? She couldn't do something against him and she still laughed? Conan understood. He immediately shot the ball against his arm, leading him to drop Sayuri. She still didn't run away. No. After the man fell into his knees, holding his arm, she took the gun, jumping a bit away from him, holding it right to him.
Don't bother to move.
She said before looking to Megure. He understood too and handcuffed him. Sayuri handed the gun to one of the officers and walked to Conan and Heiji. The two where still shocked.
Are... Are you alright?
Conan asked. Sayuri answered with an nod, trying to hide her trembling hand behind her. Nobody is able not being fearful while being held hostage. Conan knew this and saw her trembling hand, but didn't try bothering. So he just walked around her, holding her shoulder for a second while saying:
You've made a good job. Thanks to you we were able to arrest the murderer. Thank you.
He then walked to the door of the room while Heiji followed him, leaving her to be the last one inside that room. Being alone her trembling hand got worse. Her whole body began to tremble. She slowly walked to the stuffed animal laying on the ground. She dropped it while the murderer held her hostage. So she picked it up and pressed it tightly against herself, trying to calm down. It took a while, but she calmed down and followed the two detectives, who waited outside of the house, out. The three walked together into an hotel they where staying in for the time being, because they actually followed another lead an case opened for them. This case just got into the way of following the actual case they where trying to solve. They entered the hotel, checked in and then entered the elevator to get to their room.
Why do you always carry this stuffed animal around with you?
Heiji asked.
You already had it with you the day I found you laying on the street...
He added. Sayuri just stood there trying to ignore that question. Conan saw that she didn't want to reply and looked up to Heiji. The moment Heiji looked down to them Conan shook his head trying to tell him to not ask further, but Heiji really wanted to know.
Seriously. Aren't you to old to carry stuffed animals around with you?
He asked again. This time Sayuri replied to the question, but not the way he wanted. She stopped the elevator and got off of it.
What's the problem now?
Heiji asked Conan after the doors closed and the elevator started again.
Don't you think you've crossed the line with this one? It totally has to do something with her family which, I remind you again, she completely lost that day. And you should know that. Why then refresh her memory of that tragedy?
Conan answered annoyed. Heiji now understood how well placed his question was.
I'm sorry... I didn't plan bringing that up...
He said.
You don't have to apologize to me.
Conan answered and left the elevator after it arrived. Heiji followed him in silence until they arrived at their room.
Hopefully nothing will happen to her.
Conan mumbled. Heiji looked down to him. He couldn't understand what Conan was saying and shook his head while going into their room. Conan looked at the staircase for a moment and went inside too. He had a bad feeling... Like something bad is about to happen...
