Lincoln sits on his bed and scrolls through his phone. He sees a post by one of his favorite music artists, CoCo. CoCo is a famous female pop artist in Japan, she dresses up super cute for all her videos and shows, and not only that but her music was incredibly sounding. She always featured a cute aesthetic but deep meaningful lyrics as well. Her songs were romance and heartbreak-focused, and Lincoln adored her music and personality.
"No way! She released a new song?"
Lincoln taps on the new song and begins listening to it, melodic piano chimes come pouring out of his phone speakers, and beautiful vocals then mix in with the piano chimes. Lincoln closes his eyes while he listens to the new song.
"I always knew, always knew it was you. The memories we shared, short and few…"
The lyrics captivated Lincoln, and it enthralled him with the world of music. As he listens, completely unaware of his surroundings, Kanna walks back into the bedroom from her shower.
"Hey, Lincoln-"
She stops and sees him completely entranced by the music. She listens and can't believe it.
"Is he listening to CoCo?"
The music stops and Lincoln opens his eyes, seeing Kanna standing close to him, surprised at what she just witnessed.
"Kanna! Um, uh..."
She gets a devilish smirk.
"So my pajamas are cringe, hmm?"
Lincoln gets a fearful look about him, and he begins to squirm and beg Kanna.
"Please don't tell anyone about this! I'm begging you!"
Lincoln drops off his bed and onto his knees, bowing down in front of Kanna, begging her to not reveal his secret. She laughs at him.
"Get up, you dummy. I will tell no one. I just can't believe you listen to CoCo is all."
Lincoln stops begging and raises up. He looks up at Kanna, surprised.
"Wait, you listen to CoCo?"
Kanna walks over to her bed and takes a seat, still drying her hair from the shower.
"Of course! I love her music, it's great. Is that a new song you're listening to?"
Lincoln gets up back on his bed and sits.
"Yes, I really like it. I love it when she plays the piano. She always does such melodic keys."
"Me too! The song she released last new year was phenomenal!"
Lincoln gets really excited suddenly, becoming passionate about CoCo talk.
"Right! It was one of my favorite songs!"
Kanna is also now getting excited.
"No way! Who else do you listen to?"
The two talk about many Japanese pop idols they listen to, and discover that they listen to very similar artists.
"Wow, Lincoln! My brother never told me about your incredible musical taste!"
"Haha... yeah about that... see, I never told him I listen to this stuff..."
Lincoln scratches his face, a little embarrassed and nervous about the situation. Kanna looks at him, taken aback by this. Lincoln and Yon have been friends since they were in elementary, so this made no sense to her.
"You've known each other for so long, though. How come you haven't told him?"
Lincoln sits thinking and turns his head away. He suddenly becomes very serious.
"There's a lot Yon doesn't know about me..."
Kanna notices his mood change and gets a little concerned for him.
"Are you ok Lincoln?"
Lincoln sits unresponsive for a moment before sighing.
"Kanna... you seem really cool and I feel like I can trust you."
"Lincoln..."
He looks Kanna right in the eyes, the two now looking at each other with serious looks.
"Can I tell you something? Something no one else knows?"
This serious side of Lincoln surprises Kanna, who is usually used to seeing him cheerful. Kanna nods and smiles at Lincoln.
"You can tell me anything! Your secrets are safe with me!"
"Right... Ok. Here I go!"
Kanna braces for whatever Lincoln is about to spring on her. Lincoln takes a deep breath.
"I-I'm... I'm!"
Lincoln gets caught in his words and gulps.
"Kanna you see..."
Kanna blushes and sits back a little, nervous about what he is about to say.
"Kanna, I think I'm in love with your brother!"
Lincoln is now sitting forward with a serious, confident look. Kanna froze completely, processing what he just said. The words finally connect and all she can squeeze out is simple:
"Huh?"
The two sit, staring at each other in silence, when suddenly Kanna lets out a loud scream.
"YOU'RE IN LOVE WITH MY BROTHER?!"
The entire building rattles at her outburst, the neighbors in nearby rooms all hearing her yell. Meanwhile, Yon sneezes, as he feels like someone is talking about him.
"Stupid allergies..."
Yui comes into the bedroom with a towel on her head, just leaving the bathroom. Yon looks at her and blushes at how cute she looks in her pajamas. She notices him staring and blushes as well. He looks away, trying not to make things awkward or weird.
"Is something wrong with my clothes?"
"N-No! You look cute."
Yui turns tomato red and turns around quickly, making her way over to her bed. Yon gets a nervous grin about him and scratches his face nervously.
"You can take your shower now... I'm done..."
Yon looks over at Yui, her back to him as she dries her hair.
"Right, thank you..."
Yon unpacks some clothes from his bag and anything else he will need for the shower. He walks past Yui on his way to the bathroom, both of them sharing an awkward glance. The two blush once more before Yon enters the bathroom for his shower.
"I'm such an idiot... Staring at her, then calling her cute? What was I thinking!"
Yon, frustrated, throws his clothes onto the sink and gets into the shower. He stands under the hot water, enjoying the heat.
"Ah... So warm!"
The hot water flows down his body and between his hair. He stands under it with his eyes closed, thinking about how he and Yui are sharing a room alone.
"We've only just become friends, won't this be weird?"
He opens his eyes, staring down at the water entering the drain. He then shakes his head no in disapproval at his thoughts.
"No! It'll only be weird if I make it weird! Just be normal."
Yon finish's his shower and gets dressed. He then dries his hair and leaves the bathroom.
"The showers here really are outstanding!"
Yui, who is lying in her bed scrolling on her phone, looks over at Yon standing in the bedroom entryway. She smiles at him.
"They really are. The water is so warm and relaxing."
Yon walks over to his bed and sits down. He takes his phone from the nightstand beside his bed and starts scrolling on social media. The two sit in silence for some time before Yui asks a sudden question.
"So um, Yon... is it weird that we're in the same bedroom?"
Yon is a little stunned that she thought the same thing he did just a few moments ago.
"Yeah... A little... I'm sorry Yui."
"No! Don't be sorry. It's not like it's our fault."
"I just don't want you to be uncomfortable..."
Yui stands up with a concerned look on her face.
"No! I'm not uncomfortable! I just..."
She stands motionless, unable to convey what she means to him. Yon smiles at her.
"I'm not uncomfortable either! I'm happy you trust me."
Yui smiles and steps forward towards Yon, excited he understands.
"Exactly! I feel the same way. We just met recently, but I trust you too!"
The two smile at each other, finally breaking the tension between them. Yui moves closer to Yon and sits beside him on his bed. She pulls up her phone and shows Yon a ride she was looking for when they visit the amusement park.
"You want to ride that one?"
"Yes! It looks so fun!"
Yon gets anxious, looking at the picture of the ride. It's the park's most famous coaster, holding the record for both the fastest speed and highest drop-off. His stomach turns at the idea.
"Y-Yeah... let's do it, hehe..."
Yui smiles happily and starts showing him videos of the ride, only intensifying his fear of the ride.
"What have I gotten myself into?"
