Chapter 24 - Not an ordinary cat

Aurora's pov

Blake and his brother kept staring at me as if I were insane.

"Seriously? The cat?". Blake's brother stared at me with a raised brow.

"Yes, like come to think of it what would a cat be doing in the middle of the forest?. I reasoned with them. "It's just not normal and how else would you explain us disappearing from the school grounds and appearing in this hallway".

"There must be another explanation other than the cat being the reason". He said

"Like what?" I Questioned. "Or are you the one who cast the spell that made us suddenly disappear from where we were and appear here?".

"No but saying the cat is the reason just makes you sound like a mad person". He insisted.

"No, you thinking and saying it's normal for a cat to be in the middle of the forest makes you sound like a mad person". I argued.

"Your theory of how we got here is plain unbelievable, dumb and foolish". He argued back. "I'm seriously beginning to think you're nuts".

"I think you're mentally deranged if you can't even think logically. Who could have done that? Or do you think it was your ancestors that decided to come to your rescue". I glared at him. This foolish shifter is driving me insane, how could he explain what happened if it wasn't the cat. Yes I know my theory sounds unbelievable, ridiculous even but this is the supernatural world, anything can happen.

"Stop being absurd, you're saying things that are plain unreasonable". He glared back at me. The argument between me and him went on for quite some time till Blake decided to interfere.

"Can you guys stop already" He yelled glaring at his brother and I. "Aren't you guys even thinking? You two should be worried about us getting caught but Instead you're here arguing and making pointless assumptions".

"She is the one making not only pointless but ridiculous assumptions" his brother replied.

"SHUT UP JAKE" he yelled.

"Yh jake, shut up" I butted in causing Jake to glare at me with his nose flaring in anger while Blake rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Can you stop being childish and think". Blake huffed.

Confused, I asked him. "Why should we be worried about us being caught when we've already escaped, and not like our faces were seen".

"Not that I want to agree with her or anything but she's right why should we be worried, not like they saw us" Jake added.

"Yh but principal Demitrey is a vampire so he must have caught a whiff of our scent and I'm certain by now he already knows we are the ones who broke the barrier". He explained worriedly.

"I don't think so". I voiced.

He stared at me confusedly, "Huh?".

Rolling my eyes, "he isn't familiar with our scent, unlike us who are already familiar with his and that of the other teachers and that was the only reason we were able to figure out that they were walking towards us so unless he walks in on us in this hallway and realize we have the same scent as the ones he caught a whiff of in the school grounds, we aren't going to get caught".

"What if he sees us after today?". Jake asked.

"We can try avoiding him till we're certain he has forgotten our scent and that's if only he even caught our scent in the first place". I answered.

"You don't think he caught our scent?" Blake asked.

"Nope" I replied walking away from them towards the stairs. "Why are there so many stairs in this school" I complain internally as I began imagining myself climbing up the stairs since we were in the ground floor and principal Demitrey and Miss Hannah could walk in anytime now. "And we need to move from here before we get caught by principal Demitrey and Miss Hannah because I'm pretty sure they're already done putting up the new barrier".

"Ok so what are you going to do with the cat". Blake asked the question that have been running through my mind as we started climbing the stairs.

"I don't know" I replied unsure.

"Well you better think of something fast before the other students come out of the dinning Hall and see the cat in your hands" Blake said.

"Can't one of you be with the cat till I think of what to do with it?" I asked.

"Nope" they both answered in unison.

"Whyyyyyyyyyy" I complained.

"Because this is your problem and not ours, you are the one who insisted on taking the cat with you, so deal with it yourself and don't drag us into it". Jake the asshole replied.

"So what you're trying to say is that I should have left the cat in the middle of the forest alone" I Questioned in annoyance.

"Well yes or since you were able to pass the barrier, you could have just lived with him in the forest" he shrugged casually walking away.

"He was going to get killed if he stayed in the forest by himself" I reasoned with him, but the fool couldn't be reasoned with.

"That's why I said you should have just lived with him in the forest". He continued being foolish. We were now walking along the hallway of the second floor still arguing among our selves. My legs were killing me for climbing those stupid stairs. If I said I was tired before, then I was wrong because now I'm feeling so tired that I might just pass out. Looking around the dimly lit hallway, I could see lots of door as well as other hallway on both sides of the wall, I wonder where they lead to, it was getting a bit hard to see in my tired state. I have never been in this floor before, infact I haven't been to alot of places in this school. The only places I've been to is well the girls floor, the classrooms which my classes are usually held, the dining hall. That's basically all the places I've been to, and of course the class where our detention is held.

"You know you're not supposed to be on this floor right" jake said annoying me for the hundredth time in one day.

Ignoring him I turned to Blake. "Blake why can't you be with the cat?".

Looking at me, he replied "I wouldn't know what to tell the guys if they ask about the cat and I also think it would be better if you're the one to stay with the cat".

"Why do you say so".

"Because you have just one roommate whereas Jake and I have two so it'll be harder to explain how we got the cat and also to get them to keep it a secret". He explained "You and your roommate seem pretty close so I'm sure she wouldn't mind you hiding the cat and in the room and also I think you're correct about the cat not being ordinary so I think the cat should be under close watch which I wouldn't be able to do since I'm always busy".

"Oh" I muttered.

"Yes now leave before someone sees you here and get suspicious". Jake strikes again.

"You do know you're annoying right?" I asked glaring at him.

"Yep and so are you". He replied before turning right and walking down another hallway.

"Annoying" I muttered under my breath.

"I better get going" I said to Blake.

"Ok and if you find out anything about the cat don't forget to tell me about it" he said before walking forward a little and turning right into another hallway. This school is so big, it kinda reminds me of Hogwarts. Turning around I bumped into a wall.

"Ouch" I mumbled.

"What are you doing here" the wall asked coldly. Wait walls don't speak, I quickly raised my head and saw that it was Damien, Amber's brother. "Why do I keep running into him".

"None of your business" I replied and hurriedly walked past him.

"Wait" he called out softly following me. "I want to talk to you". I ignored him and kept walking down the corridor leading to the stairs of the third floor. "These stairs are going to be the death of me".

"What cat is that?" He asked in a dull monotone.

"None of your business" I replied. I was almost at the stairs when he held my wrist and pulled me back.

"What is your problem?" I asked annoyed.

"I said i want to talk to you, and never walk away when I'm talking to you" he gritted out.

"Watch me" I yanked my hands out of his grip and climb up the stairs as fast as I can, at least as fast as my tired body can go.

"Who exactly does he think he is telling me what and what not to do, don't ever walk away when I'm talking to you" i murmured to myself mimicking his annoying voice while rolling my eyes.

Finally getting to the third floor, i was breathing like i just ran a marathon, Damn! I hate these stairs. Walking down the corridor that leads to mine and Lilith's room I noticed that everywhere is still quiet, meaning that everyone is still at the dinning hall, that means i still have a little time to take the cat up to the room without being seen by any other person. Entering the room I sat on my bed placing the cat on my lap staring at him, yep it's a male.

Upon closer inspection i realized that the cat was wounded, with blood oozing out of the wound . He had a very deep wound on his stomach like he was deliberately stabbed or something, also i saw some long scars on his back as well, it looked like he was whipped on a daily basis. Who could have been so heartless to torture him like this, this is so bad, no wonder he wandered off into the forest. I felt myself tearing up just staring at the poor cat.

I placed him on the floor walking into the bathroom to pick up my first aid kit, i know being a supernatural, having a first aid kit is ridiculous but since i don't heal as fast as other supernaturals i suppose having one isn't that bad, I mean i wouldn't want to be walking around the school with a bloody arm or leg. Coming back from the bathroom with the first aid kit. I placed him on a fluffy towel so he can be comfortable, i then grabbed a bowl of warm water and a cloth and started wiping off the blood from his body. I then picked up some gauze and wrapped up the wound. After that i gently picked him up along with the towel and placed him on my bed, he immediately fell asleep. I Guess the poor cat was tired after all.

"Hey aurora you won't believe what happened at di...." Lilith walked into the room talking but froze upon seeing a black cat on my bed. "Want to explain?" She said gesturing to the cat.

"Not really" i smiled fluttering my lashes innocently.

"Start talking". She crossed her hands glaring at me still standing by the door, she was clearly not going to let it slide.

"You won't believe me when i say this, ahem, uhm.." I cleared my throat "You know i told you i couldn't go to dinner because I was tired and wanted to sleep, well i did fall asleep then i suddenly heard a purring sound upon waking up i saw this cat beside me".

"You were right, i would not believe you, now spill it". She said.

"I'm being serious". I told her.

"Yh I'm sure you are" she rolled her eyes clearly not buying it. "I need the truth and before you think of lying again, you're not as good of a liar as you think you are".

"What were you saying happened at dinner today that i wouldn't believe" I smiled innocently at her trying to change the topic.

"Not today Aurora, not today. The truth". She said strictly.

"Ok fineeee" i dragged, "I was going to sleep just like i told you i would but i couldn't, I tried but I just couldn't fall asleep, so I decided to take a walk outside the school. So i was walking when I heard a purring sound an...."

"Seriously you are still going to go with that". She asked with an arched brow.

"No I'm being serious this time" I said "So like i was saying I was walking around the school when I heard a purring sound and when I traced the sound I saw the cat and i brought him back here" i told her the truth excluding the part where i broke the barrier.

"Ok". She said finally walking away from the door "anyways I hear the protection barrier on the school was broken".

"Wait!! What?? The school has a protection barrier?" I asked acting like I didn't know anything about the barrier.

"Oh please drop the awful act, you do know something about the barrier don't you?" "Geez she knows me so well.

"How do you even know that the barrier was broken?" I asked her.

"News spread fast, now tell me" she demanded.

"Ok i might have accidentally broken the barrier". I said

"Yh right, accidentally".

"It really was" I said.

"Was it really?" She questioned. "Anyways you are quite lucky you're not the only one who skipped dinner today else everyone would have suspected you". She lay on her bed. " Anyways what are you going to do with that". She said referring to the cat.

"I think I'm going to keep him" I replied staring at his sleeping form with a smile on my face.

"Well that's impossible" she said.

"Why?"

"Well firstly there's no way you would be able to keep him hidden for a long time, sooner or later everyone would find out. Secondly he is not an ordinary cat and i think that's what we should even be worried about".
