Chapter 4 - Journey Through Magical Beast Territory

Several minutes before they headed towards one of the checkpoints, Andrew saw lush vegetation all over the place. There were giant trees that reached over 100 meters in height! Moreover, their thickness was baffling.

The vegetation varied in colors as green, blue and purple were the most common ones. There were even some plants that were red and made his instincts flare up when he looked at them.

Now he was convinced...

This was a new world!

This wasn't Earth which he previously thought to be. This information greatly excited him at the prospects of this world. He was intrigued how civilizations evolved to live in such enviroment.

Judging by the fact that he looked like a human, he assumed that apes existed in this world too! He wondered what other animals might live here. Yet, his contemplation was cut short as he was once again put into the backpack.

Even though he was inside a backpack with no ventilation available, he didn't feel suffocated at all and to his surprise, whenever he was shoved into the backpack he would get a peaceful feeling as if everything was going to be okay.

He slowly closed his eyes as sleepiness took over him. He didn't even feel the vibration from Clara's insane speed as it would even put the most up to date sports cars to shame.

Clara was sprinting towards one of the hidden checkpoints which she came to know when she was a Young Mistress of Westwood Noble Family.

After a while, she stopped in front of a deep chasm that extended as far as an eye could see. After observing her surroundings for a while, she deeply bowed as she took out a shiny thumb-sized crystal from thin air!

It radiated a light blue glow as its light illuminated the dark surroundings. The next moment, a gust of wind came by and the crystal was gone! Yet, it was replaced with something that looked like a stone engraved with various symbols. It emitted a specific aura as if relaying information about her and her location.

After observing the crystal and confirming that it wasn't fake, she resumed her run towards Leisar Empire.

She chose the shortest route possible. A smart Magical Beast ruling this area knew about the advantage of the distance that a part of its lair provided. Therefore, it asked for a higher price compared to other checkpoints.

Naturally, it wouldn't be bothered by every single visitor as its subordinates handled everything.

And the reason she bowed? It simply was a sign of acknowledgment of one's authority and subsequent rules that were put into the place. It was a standard procedure if you didn't want to catch anyone's attention and wanted to stay low-key.

Of course, there were some arrogant fellas who either killed the subordinates and fled before the real boss came in or just ended up in the stomach of a Magical Beast.

Moreover, some suicidal people out there even made a ranking of danger zones which ranged from the least horrifying to the most gruesome death places imaginable.

Overall, such places attracted all kinds of freaks and people who were tired of their lives.

Since ancient times, Magical Beasts understood this and stopped personally coming out to receive the payment, they just used magic to grab it and then gave a token to safely pass.

As long as the token's aura stayed on the lerson, no Magical Beast would even spare them a second glance. As long as they weren't tired of their lives as well. Since it would be a direct challenge to the area's ruler if they dared to unreasonably attack people who were temporarily under the ruler's protection.

Clara resumed her sprint as she tuned down her speed since she didn't want to reveal her strength and attract anyone's attention.

Her journey through Magical Beast Territory proceeded smoothly until...

Sssss~!

A loud hiss reverberated throughout the entire area and the ground started quaking.

Then, even louder roar accompanied it. Taking notice of it, Clara decided to go around the straight route as she knew what was happening.

A Magical Beast was challenging the ruler of this territory!

Even those world-shaking sounds couldn't wake up Andrew from his sweet slumber. The transparent bubble surrounding the backpack didn't even ripple!

Soon, with her inhuman eyesight, she spotted 70 meters long serpent and 20 meters tall ox Magical Beasts as they hissed and roared around.

One was a purple serpent with its giant open maw pointing towards an ox whose body was entirely metallic in color.

They stared at each other wanting to rip one another into shreds!

Suddeny, the purple serpent spoke in a unique language that was spoken using energy that was called mana! It didn't even need to open its mouth to convey its intentions. Plus, it didn't care about the possibility that others might hear their conversation as energy waves rippled in all directions. Although, it could control them...it was just one of the forms of showing dominance when someone let stranger listen to their conversation, saying that even if they knew the information, they were too insignificant and weak to do anything!

"You dumb ox how dare you intrude into my lair!" the purple serpent hissed as it looked at the ox with greedy eyes, imagining the tasty meal it is going to have tonight.

"Hmph! Arrogant worm, how dare you underestimated me even though we are of the same level!" the ox roared while being discontent with purple snake's statement.

"Hehe, I have been in this stage for centuries! Yet, you dumb ox dare to challenge me just after breaking through. What else can you be called except dumb?!" the purple serpent taunted the ox as its haughty emotions spread through mana, expressing absolute disdain and mockery.

"Let's speak after one of us is dead!" the ox furiously roared as it darted towards the serpent.
