Chapter 6 - Noir City

After crossing several rivers and hills. Clara saw a tall and imposing gate of Noir City. Due to the fact that Magical Beasts usually grew tens of meters tall, the walls were designed to be over 100 meters in height.

It was made out of plain white stone yet each inch of the wall was enchanted with magic! Even that ox wouldn't dare to go near this place since the city was protected by tier 3 array!

The gate stood over 50 meters tall and 20 meters wide. It was adorned with Imperial Insignia of the Leisar Imperial Family. It looked like a sword vertically slicing the shield in two.

Clara saw a long queue stretching from her location to the city.

The next moment she took Andrew out of the backpack and retrieved it into what looked like a ring...the backpack just disappeared.

Then she took him into her hands as she walked towards the long queue.

All this time, Andrew was silent as he observed the new appearance that his mother put in front of him. It wouldn't take a genius to understand that she shapeshifted. He could still feel the unique motherly aura that surrounded her.

He wondered what kind of world he transmigrated in. Here, people seemed to possess super abilities that left him completely baffled. Moreover, seeing the tall imposing walls and gate of Noir City, he was sure that to accomplish everything he has seen so far in this world required supernatural powers!

-----

The time passed as que kept shortening. There were some people who got detained and dragged into the city like dirtbags.

Unfortunately, Andrew couldn't see all this since his viewpoint wasn't aligned there.

All this time, he observed the blue sky that was above him. It was in a slightly darker shade of blue than that of Earth.

Soon, it was their turn to approach the guards that checked the identities of people passing through the gates.

Clara took out what looked like a medallion. The guard stationed there indifferently took it and placed it into a slit of the device he held. After a moment, all the information about Clara appeared on the screen of the device.

Naturally, she wouldn't give out her true identity. She forged it when she still resided in the residence of Westwood Noble Family.

After comparing her appearance and the information in the database, he gestured for her to place her hand on the device.

Soon enough, the device confirmed the authenticity of her identity.

It didn't scan fingerprints since it was easy to change it with shapeshifting. It scanned the energy signature that even artifacts and devices that had mana possessed.

The moment before she put her hand on the device she cast a spell that made mana unreadable, thus misleading the device.

The guard asked for a fee of entrance and she handed over an inconspicuous stone that had a blue hue around it. Naturally, it was lesser in quality compared to the crystal she had given to pass the checkpoint.

Finally, she crossed the tall and wide gate. It wasn't anything special to her as she had seen grander ones.

The security around the gate was strict since some deviants would sometimes want to make trouble for whatever insignificant reason they had.

After passing through the gate, she saw tall and imposing buildings, they were guard posts, set up in case of emergency.

There were some people near the gate that worked as city guides. She bought the services of one of them and toured the city.

There were all kinds of architecture in the city.

Andrew also looked around the place with curiosity. The buildings looked fairly modern by the standards of Earth.

After feeling content with the tour, Clara decided to find a house to rent as she didn't want to live here permanently since she understood that people from her family might somehow track her.

She rented a common flat where she decided to stay for a couple of months.

She didn't meet any problems while renting the flat since after her identity was confirmed at the city gate she got a special token that had a copy of her personal information and confirmation of her pass at the city gate.

The flat had 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a guest room alongside a kitchen. Surprisingly to Andrew, this place was extremely spacious as each room was at least 100 meters square.

Eventually, a month passed.

During the month, Clara taught Andrew way more than anyone would typically teach a 2 month old kid.

Although, even in his previous life he wasn't mentally gifted, he was rather persistent and worked harder than anyone else, thus resulting in his climb to the top in his past life.

Andrew learned how to make simple sentences and everyday vocabulary. This greatly shocked Clara as it sounded utterly absurd for a child of 2 months old.

Of course, Andrew didn't slack off even for a minute. Every single moment he dedicated himself to learning the language of this world. Even when he was fed, he repeated vocabulary in his mind and had imaginary conversations to better memorize words.

He had truly ground his way to this point!

The language was called Azraa, since the continent's name itself was Azraa too. From what he heard from Clara, Azraa was a legendary and mythological figure who once existed on the continent that now bore his name.

He was an ambitious mage who desired the unification of the whole continent and the subsequent development of the magical society.

Naturally, he met an enormous amount of resistance from all kinds of powers of that time, but he either subdued or slaughtered them. Eventually, all of them came under one and only Continental Sovereign Azraa. Be they Magical Beasts or other races, they could be described with one word...

Unified!

Azraa had to slaughter billions of members of various races to achieve it. Unfortunately, he dissapeared after tens of thousands of years of his rule, leading to the collapse of a single and only continental force that he had created with his and others' blood.

He left a rich legacy that could still be found throughout whole Azraa Continent!
