Chapter 7 - Meeting the Handsome Devil - 7

2Vile and Grey Cooper approached Raven with a confident stride, exuding an air of self-assurance as if they owned the world. Their piercing glares were directed at Jimmy. "You see, what gave Jimmy away was the Rolex he's wearing. The same watch was worn by the shooter hired to murder Delilah. Delilah had gifted these watches to 2Vile and Cooper as a symbol of their relationship. It's no wonder she moved from man to man - Jimmy couldn't satisfy her, and I doubt she ever truly cared for the old fellow beyond his money."

Raven chuckled deviously as she spoke, her words cutting deep into Jimmy. Not out of resentment or disagreement, for he knew Raven was right.

Raven looked at Jimmy and said, "2Vile genuinely loved Delilah, but felt like she was driving him crazy, just as Cooper cheated on his girlfriend to have sex with the Victim." Raven continued, "Delilah's therapist was the only solace she had to help her with her work, which made it easy for her killer to find her."

Raven then dismissed the topic, saying, "The soundtrack to Time Will Tell was produced by Jimmy." She added, "Whitney Houston's album sales hit the top ten after Delilah's death." Raven clapped her hands, regaining everyone's attention, and said excitedly, "That ensured a boatload of royalty checks were heading Jimmy's way - which was the very motive for why he paid a low-class drug dealer to murder Delilah."

Lucifer watched Raven with rapt fascination as Raven's captivating influence shattered every wall Jimmy had built around himself. Raven had finally ensnared Jimmy in the trap they had meticulously set. Raven then turned to 2Vile and Cooper, flashing a confident smile. "2Vile and Cooper had no motive to murder such a popular singer," Raven declared, clearing their name once more.

Raven growled disgustedly at Jimmy, finding his entire being distasteful. "So, in summary, Jimmy murdered Delilah in order to receive the insurance checks from her death," she said. Raven then dismissed the idea that the watches were a coincidence, stating, "According to her therapist, Jimmy was not only verbally abusive to Delilah, but he physically threatened her by putting her on drugs to keep her quiet. That's how the connection was made between Jimmy and Delilah's drug dealer, Eddie." Raven delivered these damning facts with a tone of a lawyer prosecuting a defendant's client.

Raven sauntered towards Lucifer, her hips swaying with confident command of the room. Lucifer opened his hand, anticipating that Raven wished to see the mystery everyone was awaiting. But Lucifer was utterly astonished by what she revealed - something that seemed to elude Raven's notice.

"Let's end this dance, shall we?" Raven said, grabbing the tarot card she had drawn and flipping it over horizontally to show the upright face of Judgement. Her expression radiated ungodly confidence as she smirked.

Jimmy knew better than to correct her - the witnesses before him were proof that everything Raven said was true. 2Vile glared at him, arms crossed, feeling betrayed that Jimmy would dare threaten the love of his life, Delilah, even though she had cheated on him. Death was a punishment 2Vile deemed too severe, no matter her transgression.

Jimmy jumped up, adrenaline surging, and rushed toward Raven. With a shaky hand, he snatched her gun from the holster at her side. Pointing the firearm at Raven's head, he wrapped his arm around her neck. "You bitch!" he exclaimed.

Raven rolled her eyes in a bored whisper, "Oh, dull..."

As the commotion erupted, the rest of the building's patrons fled in a panic, their screams echoing through the club. Only Jimmy, Raven, and Lucifer remained.

From the top of the stairs, 2Vile called the police. "I made her, and she ruined me. She humiliated me. She owes me," Jimmy said, his voice tinged with distress and a sense of unraveling.

"You're not god, Jimmy. You didn't make her," Lucifer said calmly, moving closer to Raven, feeling the need to protect her from Jimmy. Raven's expression remained stern and unperturbed.

"You back off, you freak. I mean it. My life is not in control of this bitch. No chance!" Jimmy growled venomously, tightening his grip on Raven. Lucifer's brow twitched at the insult directed at Raven - an offense he found hard to tolerate.

Lucifer calmly approached Jimmy, his movements deliberate. "Lucifer?" Raven said, her voice tinged with a mix of curiosity and confusion. This went against everything the academy had taught her, (Not that it mattered considering she just gambled with a murderer) yet her instincts warned her of the danger. Nonetheless, Raven maintained her position and probed further. "Lucifer, this isn't wise," she said with unwavering confidence. "Back away," she added more sternly.

"I'm immortal, it's fine," Lucifer replied with a cocky smile, disregarding Raven's orders. Raven rolled her eyes, unsure if he was joking, but his stubborn demeanor made it clear he had no intention of following her instructions.

Raven's instincts kicked in once again, causing the fine hairs on the back of her neck to prickle with a new surge of heat. Her eyes widened as she reacted quickly to Jimmy pointing the gun at Lucifer. Raven rushed forward stepping to the side and simultaneously kicking Jimmy's knee backward with force. Jimmy's knee buckled, his focus on Lucifer broken, and he howled in pain as the joint snapped on impact. In that split second, the sound of gunfire rang through Raven's ears. She felt a noticeable thud as the bullet struck her left shoulder, pushing her forward toward Lucifer. Lucifer's eyes widened, taken aback by the rapid turn of events.

Lucifer rushed to disarm Jimmy, narrowly avoiding getting shot as he punched Jimmy in the face, knocking him back in a daze and causing him to drop the gun. Lucifer quickly picked up the firearm and tossed it up to the second floor. Turning to Raven, Lucifer noticed her clutching her left shoulder, no longer in shock from the gunshot. Raven growled through the pain but held her ground as blood rapidly spilled from the wound, leaving her feeling lightheaded. The stinging pain shot through her entire shoulder like needles. Witnessing the entire encounter, 2Vile gasped and rushed out of the building, frantically calling for an ambulance as he reported that Raven had been shot.

Raven's eyes were wild with a crazed look, fueled by the immense pain she felt. As the adrenaline began to wear off, her body started to falter and she began to stumble. Lucifer rushed to her side, gently guiding her to lie down. "Why did you do that?" he asked, his voice laced more with curiosity than concern for the detective.

"He was g-gonna kill you..." Raven said weakly, wincing from the pain of Lucifer's actions.

Lucifer shook his head vehemently. "No, no, no. You're just letting him off too easy. He needs to pay! He needs to suffer! He needs to feel the pain, not escape it!" His gaze fixed on Raven's reddened, violet-tinged eyes, not fully registering the pain she was in from the adrenaline crash.

Raven rolled her eyes tiredly and let out a mocking laugh. "Don't worry, I'm sure that's the least of our worries," she said, looking away. Despite the agony, Raven couldn't help but wonder if Lucifer was upset that she had taken the bullet for him, or if he was simply looking for a reason to be upset.

Lucifer's voice grew angrier as he said, "No. No, it's not. And you know why?" Raven glanced at Jimmy, her eyes widening as her instincts screamed that danger was near once more. "Because I'm here and..." Suddenly, another gunshot rang out, interrupting Lucifer.

Reacting quickly, Raven raised her right leg over Lucifer's head and threw him to the floor. But as she did so, she was struck in the left upper arm. "AAA!" Raven cried out in pain, clutching the bullet wound with her right hand.

Raven growled as Jimmy stumbled to his feet, a second gun now visible in his hands. The holster strapped to his ankle revealed where he had concealed the extra weapon. Raven cursed her own foolishness - she should have checked Jimmy for guns before they arrived, but had failed to do so

Raven knew this wasn't the outcome Lucifer had wanted, but she was unsure how to intervene. If she didn't act, Raven risked getting in trouble for not preventing Lucifer from getting hurt. Lucifer rushed back towards Raven, entirely taken aback by her quick reflexes. "An odd way to go, don't you think?" Raven chuckled lightly, tears welling in her eyes as a small pang of pain struck her heart. The agony was now becoming unbearable.

"How cringe." She said.
