Chapter 4 - Meeting the Handsome Devil - 4

The Wayfarers Chapel was surrounded by a beautiful scene of various white flowers. The chapel's glass structure perfectly complemented the aesthetic of a white wedding. Ahead of Raven, the tree-like benches were filled with many people. Raven, however, wore a fitted black dress, uninterested in conforming to the traditional white attire. Her sleeveless, one-piece dress was a fitted corset with skin-tight matching shorts. A see-through laced skirt connected to the waist of the shorts, the Leavers Lace pattern becoming more prominent past her knees. Raven's presence at the wedding was due solely to the fact that the groom, Jimmy Barnes, was the ex-husband of Delilah. Through some illegal maneuvering, you had quickly uncovered the wedding's location. In Raven's opinion, weddings celebrated all that was false, misleading, and nonsensical in the weak, morally compromised world.

Raven stood at the back of the wedding, her focus solely on Jimmy. Barnes' investigation had convinced Raven that Jimmy's opinion of weddings was a false hope, driven by a desire for money or other benefits, rather than genuine grief over his ex-wife's death. This made Raven deeply suspicious of Jimmy's motives. She now considered him the primary suspect, knowing that his willingness to remarry so soon after his previous wife's passing suggested he was already emotionally detached from the victim.

As the priest held a bible and asked, "If there is anyone here that would oppose this holy union, speak now or forever hold your peace," Raven observed Jimmy, dressed in all white to match the wedding aesthetic, standing beside his new bride. The bride herself wore a simple silk dress and lace veil, but she appeared disinterested and even repulsed by the idea of marrying Jimmy.

Raven chuckled and started walking down the aisle. "I do. I mean, can someone explain to me how a grieving male getting over his dead ex-wife is getting married to a beautiful woman who looks completely repulsed by the idea of sharing the same bed with you?" she said with attitude and confidence.

Lucifer laughed as he approached. "I have a problem as well. How can an incredibly, jaw-droppingly, loin-stirringly beautiful young woman marry this short, sweaty, and altogether fugly homunculus?"

Raven side-eyed Lucifer with a smirk. "I was right, you do have connections," she chuckled as they walked to meet Jimmy Barnes and his bride at the stairs.

Lucifer joked, "I mean, is this a wedding or a kidnapping?" as he looked down at Raven, meeting her gaze.

Raven let out a genuine chuckle, finding Lucifer's humor in the conversation amusing. "I see what you mean - she clearly doesn't want to be here," Raven said, casting a devious smirk at Jimmy. Lucifer kept his gaze fixed on you, utterly fascinated and perplexed by your presence. The fact that you had disrupted the wedding before he could make a grand entrance entertained him. Lucifer admired the dress Raven wore, how the curves of her body fit it perfectly and lent elegance to her posture as she stood beside him. He watched as Raven's long, curled black hair swayed blissfully in the slight breeze within the building. In his peripheral vision, Lucifer noticed the priest silently praying, making the sign of the cross by touching his forehead, chest, left shoulder, and right shoulder.

Lucifer had a small smile as he looked at the priest. "Oh, don't bother with that. While you're at it, say hey for me. It's been a while." Lucifer chuckled lightly, now turning his gaze to Jimmy.

Raven rolled her eyes at Lucifer's biblical metaphor. "I assume you both know each other," she said, chuckling and crossing her arms around her stomach, still wearing a devious expression. Her raven-red eye glowed with a crimson hue, as if she had solved an important puzzle in the case.

Raven noticed the matching Rolex on Jimmy's wrist, an official connection between Eddie and Jimmy Barnes that Lucifer had not yet seen. Intrigued, Lucifer wondered what was causing Raven's eyes to glow red and how she had discovered the private wedding event that was not publicly advertised.

"How did you get here? This is a private event!" Jimmy whispered, his voice frustrated and nervous at Raven and Lucifer's presence.

"Quite a lavish one for a record producer on the outs," Lucifer said confidently, hands in his pockets as he looked at Jimmy with a devious smirk.

Raven's teasing voice cut through the tension. "I see a hint of anxiety in your posture. Don't tell me you're not as confident now that you know who you're speaking to." She chuckled, eyeing Lucifer. Raven noticed Lucifer seemed offended that Jimmy wasn't paying him enough attention, prompting Lucifer to demand, "You do remember me, don't you?" Lucifer glared down at Jimmy, chin lowered.

"Yes. What do you want? I'm rather busy," Jimmy replied, irritation masking his underlying fear by using his upcoming wedding as a distraction.

Raven's glare was tinged with distaste. "Well, you know your ex-wife was murdered. Yet here you are, getting married as if her death means nothing to you." Her blunt words conveyed her deep repulsion at Jimmy's apparent indifference.

The crowd behind Lucifer and Raven gasped and chattered in shock upon hearing the news. "Yeah, that's really sad. But you know what? She ruined my wedding once, and I'm not about to let that happen again," Jimmy said, avoiding eye contact and forcing a smile at his new fiancée, using her to mask his emotions. Struggling to keep his composure, Jimmy did his best not to run away.

"It's hard to be rejected, isn't it, Jimmy?" Lucifer chuckled darkly, a devious smile on his face as he looked at Jimmy. "Twice," Raven added, rolling her eyes and glancing at the bride ahead of them.

"Darling, I can tell you don't want to be here by the way you're dressed. If you really cared, you would have put more effort into making this your dream day," Raven bluntly observed, looking the bride up and down. "Just because he has the money doesn't mean he'll treat you right," she added, her disgust thinly veiled by her advice.

"What?" Jimmy said, confused, furrowing his brow as he looked to his bride, seeking clarification on Raven's words. Lucifer spoke with full confidence as he looked at Jimmy. "You recently tried to get her back. I'd kill someone if they denied me even once." His devious smile never left. "Not that that's possible," he added a bit egotistically, glancing down at Raven with a small wink.

Raven shook her head, rolling her eyes once again, uninterested in Lucifer's antics. "Be honest," she asked the bride bluntly, giving her a comforting smile. "Do you want to have sex with him after this?"

"I don't want to have sex with him," the bride said honestly, standing there awkwardly but showing extreme interest, as if this was the best drama she had ever seen.

Jimmy looked angry and even more nervous, realizing Raven's deductions were right. "I've heard a lot about you," he growled, glaring at Raven.

"Oh yeah?" Raven responded with a devious smirk, drawing out the conversation to psychologically ensnare him. Her voice was seductively scary, as if she was trying to seduce the fear in Jimmy without needing any torture methods. "I'll show you what you haven't heard if you keep up the act, Jimmy."

Lucifer was growing impatient but found Raven's methods interesting. Jimmy bit his tongue, clenching his fist anxiously as he avoided eye contact with Raven once more.
