Raven surveyed the crime scene from the safety of her car. She closed her eyes as she rolled down the automatic window. Raven possessed a keen sense of awareness, sharper than that of the average person, akin to a trained hound searching for a bomb. The area was filled with the sounds of police cars and fire trucks surrounding the block, accompanied by the chatter of anxious civilians and officers interviewing potential witnesses to the murder. Opening her eyes, Raven gathered the information she had collected and decided it was time to leave the comfort of her vehicle. She opened the driver's door and stepped out, closing it behind her. With her hands clasped behind her back, Raven walked slowly, taking in the details of the crime scene around her.Raven observed the forensic team photographing the body and the wreckage as part of the crime scene investigation. She examined the wreck and noticed that it was a head-on collision. The bus had several dents, but it appeared as though someone had been accelerating toward the bus. The compact car that Raven assumed caused the accident sustained most of the damage. Its windows were tinted, and upon impact, the car crumpled toward the driver. It seemed as if the bus was traveling at its normal speed while the car attempted to flee, colliding with the bus in the process. Fortunately, no one inside the bus was seriously injured, aside from a few bruises on the driver from the incident. Raven didn't need to rely on her mind palace to comprehend the implications of this scene. However, what caused Raven to halt in her tracks was the fact that there was only one body in the car; the driver was missing. She took a closer look at the body in the back seat. The impact of the wreck should have killed the driver before it claimed John Doe in the back. Raven examined the back seat without disturbing anything. With a slight whiff of the air, she detected a stronger scent of gunpowder emanating from the floor of the car, accompanied by a hint of a mild chemical or floral fragrance. Raven deduced that cocaine was present on the body, but it did not overpower the smell of gunpowder. She noted this information and scanned the scene for a forensic vehicle. Avoiding eye contact, she walked toward the nearest forensic car. "Gloves and an evidence bag," Raven said, her mind preoccupied with the case, making her sound more like she was issuing an order than asking politely. "What is the magic word?" A familiar voice rang in Raven's ear. She let out a soft sigh, trying to conceal her annoyance. "Now. Please." Raven was gentle yet firm as she made eye contact with her old forensic friend, Bucky. The seasoned Navy veteran was clad in a forensic bodysuit, with protective plastic covering his shoes, a cap to shield his eyes from the light, and surgical gloves on both hands.Raven once again avoided eye contact with Bucky to maintain her focus on the case. She possesses the intelligence to read people and analyze crimes, but this knowledge comes at a cost. Raven can walk in a murderer's footsteps and reconstruct the events from the murderer's perspective in her own mind. However, this process leaves her mind in constant turmoil. Every person she observes compels her to deduce their every action, creating an unending cycle of analysis.Take Bucky, for example. The scent of his cologne attempted to mask the lingering odor of a morgue on his clothes, but it was not very effective. This suggested that he had rushed to work without taking the time for a proper shower. "You need a better cologne if you want to eliminate your scent," Raven teased in a monotone voice, which made Bucky chuckle lightly at her remark. "Hardy har har." He replied, glancing at the car Raven was investigating. "What do you see happening?" Bucky asked, refocusing on the case. His voice was gentle and filled with curiosity as he listened intently to what she had to say.The one thing Raven appreciated about Bucky was his ability to find a glimmer of light in even the darkest situations. No matter the circumstances, Bucky remained reserved and calculated, skillfully delivering jokes and teasing Raven at just the right moments during her investigations. "The man who died in the back seat was the one who pulled the trigger. I don't need to examine the body since this was clearly a drive-by shooting. However, something bothers me," Raven said, thinking aloud as she watched Bucky don surgical gloves and retrieve a large evidence bag. "Grab a few more small ones. I smell cocaine on the body," Raven said honestly as Bucky handed toward her, offering the supplies she requested. "Right," Bucky replied, turning back to his forensic vehicle to fetch additional evidence bags after Raven took the supplies from his hand. Raven slipped on the surgical gloves and then instructed, "Follow me. I only tolerate talking to you." Her tone was somewhat brusque. Bucky let out a dry laugh as he turned around, placing the evidence bags in his right pocket. "Right, because everyone else is goldfish," Bucky said looking at Raven with a genuine smile. In a way, Raven viewed Bucky as a grandfather figure; his charming demeanor and vibrant personality created a comforting presence for her."Exactly," Raven said with a genuine smile. "Anyway." She then resumed her investigation, her expression shifting to one of concentration. As Raven walked with Bucky to the car she was examining, she opened the back door and noticed a gun lying at the feet of the deceased male. Carefully, she handed the gun to Bucky, ensuring the barrel was pointed at the ground. Raven also gave Bucky a large evidence bag while she continued her search for any identification that might reveal the man's identity. The male's clothing suggested that someone had attempted to pull him out of the car window by his collar, yet he remained slumped in the back seat as if someone had been speaking to him just before he died. His face was bloodied and bruised, likely from striking his head against the window. Shattered glass littered the back seat, indicating that the window had been broken to facilitate communication with the man. Raven opened the male's coat pocket and discovered two small bags of cocaine inside. She removed them and handed the bags of cocaine to Bucky. Each bag was small enough to contain approximately one gram of the substance."From what I can deduce, this man is a low-level drug dealer. The quantity of drugs we have found can be sold in smaller portions. I doubt those bags contain only cocaine; they could be mixed with another substance to produce a milder high," Raven concluded as she searched through the dead man's pant pockets. "The drug doesn't smell strong," Raven said bluntly.Raven brushed against the man's right pocket and felt a wallet secured with a metal clip full of cash. Discreetly, she took the money clip and slipped it into her pocket while revealing the man's ID to Bucky. Her fluid movements went unnoticed. She then noticed a golden Rolex watch adorning the man's left wrist. "Eddie Deacon. Why is he driving a low-profile vehicle while wearing an expensive watch? Someone must have gifted it to him," she mused. "This could indicate a group effort; someone was sent to eliminate the victim, and Eddie was hired for the job," Raven concluded."What is the victim's name?" Raven asked, removing her gloves. Bucky replied, "Her name is Delilah. She was with Lucifer Morningstar." He said confidently. "Where is he?" Raven asked, raising an eyebrow. "Mr. Morningstar owns the Lux building," Bucky said, looking at the club where the victim lay dead on the sidewalk. "I will start the interrogation with Lucifer, Go ahead and clean the scene, Bucky," Raven said with a sigh as she walked toward the club.
