Gyun walked through the door to Zombie MMA, though he was 10 minutes early but he saw two people on the mats talking. They looked relatively young and fit, they were wearing shorts with a rash guard (1) on top. Gyun was going to head to the locker room that he'd been shown to change out in to.
He noticed that there was a older guy behind the desk this time, he had a bit of a gut but his well built arms showed that he was trained.
Gyun pulled out his membership card and signed his name on the paper, he'd already filled out the waiver. He walked across the mats to the locker room, he'd bought the necessary equipment from the gym.
He had to get quite a few items as requested by the gym, he ended up buying a set of sparring gloves, compression pants, rash guard, hand wraps and headgear and shin guards all for just under .
He bought them directly from the gym, and though the price was quite high he still managed to get everything for just under 300,000 won.
Since he first had No Gi BJJ, he had to change his clothes, he walked past the mats and glanced at the cage before walking into the locker room. He changed out of his clothes into the compression pants with shorts over them, with the rash guard for a shirt.
By the time he got out on the mat there were a dozen people that had arrived, they were all between the ages of 15-25 so they were all quite young.
One thing Gyun noticed was that the overall fitness between the attendees was high, and that there was only two girls among them one of whom Gyun recognized as the girl who was at the reception desk the day before.
Gyun had some idea of what to expect since he studied different martial arts for their applications and what they would add to his repertoire.
He heard rumblings from the group, as the girl from the reception desk moved to the front of the group she clapped her hands getting the attention of the group.
"Welcome to BJJ fundamentals this is a 2 week long course of which at the end you will receive your white belt, I know that may not be the usual case at most gyms but at our gym you are not white belts until you understand what BJJ aims to accomplish. I'm Yang Seoyeon a first degree black belt in BJJ I will be your instructor for all of this course."
There were some quiet murmurs among the group as Seoyeon continued after briefly pausing.
"Okay well then why don't we do a quick warm up and get the blood pumping first with a few laps around the mats"
As she started jogging around the mat she led the group as they ran a few laps everybody in the group made it through the jog without much more then breathing harder than usual.
Seoyeon made her way to the front again as she once again clapped her hands together again before speaking.
"Ok now that we're a bit warmed up we can start with some of the basics now Jiu Jitsu is a ground submission art right?"
The group stayed silent but they nodded as she continued
"But you need to be able to get someone on the ground to do something, so we need to have something to get them to the ground. The most basic takedown and the only one you need to know at your current level is a double leg takedown."
Seoyeon pointed out the the only other girl in the group gesturing for her to come up, "come here for a second, here stand right there"
She turned back to the group,
"ok now to pull of a successful double leg you need to be able to shoot. To shoot for a takedown, you change levels bend your knees you lunge forward and fall on your knee and grab behind the knees of you opponent. You then bring your back leg around to the front, and either shove forward or to the side, but it's important to make your shot quick and fast or your going to get sprawled on which we'll talk about later"
She said as she got up after taking down the other female student.
We'll be practicing our shooting every day, during the warm up jog I'll call out and your going to shoot without taking anyone down ok"
"Yes" the group said in unison
"Good.... find a partner and practice for a few tries and alternate between yourselves"
---------------
After a few minutes Seoyeon made her way back to the front of the group to get the groups attention, Gyun got up letting go the legs of his partner after completing a successful takedown. They patted him on his shoulder as they stood up
"Damn bro you've already got it down already, you're a natural ."
"Thanks"
Gyun got the hang of it pretty quick it was simple timing and placement of the leg and knee was what determined the effectiveness of your takedown.
Seoyeon's voice rang out
"ok now that you have at least an idea of what you're doing we can start with some actual grappling, the most important position for beginners like you to understand, and that is how to work from guard position and we'll roll for few minutes at the end for fun."

-A rash guard, also known as rash vest, is an athletic shirt made of spandex and nylon or polyester. The name rash guard reflects the fact that the shirt protects the wearer against rashes caused by abrasion.
