Chapter 8 - Challenge From Jameson

When the students began to leave the hall, Levi caught up with Mark, wanting to congratulate him once again on his impressive awakening. The two friends walked side by side, their footsteps echoing on the polished marble floor.

"Hey, Mark, that was incredible. I still can't believe you awakened with two elements," Levi said, a note of awe in his voice.

Mark grinned, feeling proud of himself. "Thanks, man. I couldn't have done it without your support," he replied, his voice filled with gratitude.

Levi shook his head. "Nah, you did that all on your own. You're one talented mage," he said, clapping Mark on the back.

Mark laughed. "Well, I have a lot of work to do if I want to master both elements. But I'm up for the challenge," he said, his tone confident.

Levi nodded, his expression serious. "I have no doubt that you'll be able to do it. But you know, mastering two elements is no easy feat. You'll need to train twice as hard," he said, a note of caution in his voice.

Mark nodded, his expression determined. "I know. But I'm ready for it. I want to be the best I can be," he said, his eyes shining with determination.

Levi grinned, feeling proud of his friend. "That's the spirit, Mark. I'll be right there with you every step of the way," he said, placing a hand on Mark's shoulder.

However, their conversation was abruptly cut short as they were stopped by Jameson and his goons. "Well, well, well, if it isn't Levi and his little friend," Jameson sneered, blocking their path with his bodyguards flanking him.

Levi narrowed his eyes, his expression turning cold. "What do you want, Jameson?" he spat, his voice dripping with disdain.

Jameson chuckled, a cruel glint in his eyes. "I just wanted to congratulate you on your little friend's impressive awakening. Two elements, huh? That's quite a feat," he said, his tone laced with sarcasm.

Levi clenched his fists, his anger simmering just beneath the surface. "What do you want, Jameson?" he repeated, his voice low and dangerous.

Jameson shrugged, a wicked smile spreading across his face. "Oh, nothing much. Just thought I'd remind you that I'm still the top dog around here. And you, Levi, are nothing but a lowly second-rate mage," he said, his voice dripping with contempt.

Levi's eyes narrowed even further, his body tensing with rage. "You don't know what you're talking about, Jameson. I'm better than you in every way," he growled, his voice low and menacing.

Jameson laughed a cold and mirthless sound. "Is that so? Well, then, let's settle this. Both of us have awakened, and we will fight it out in one week. How about that?" he challenged, his eyes sparkling with malice.

Levi's jaw tightened, but he kept his composure. "Fine. I accept your challenge," he said, his voice steady, his eyes never leaving Jameson's.

Jameson smirked, looking pleased with himself. "Good. It's about time someone put you in your place, Levi," he said, turning around and walking away with his goons in tow.

As Jameson and his goons walked away, Levi turned to Mark and let out a deep breath. Mark watched him with concern, his expression worried. "Are you alright? Can you really beat him?" he asked, his voice filled with apprehension.

Levi grinned, his confidence returning. "Of course, I can," he said, his tone laced with bravado. "My light when awakening is even brighter than him, and also my water element can defeat his fire element."

Mark nodded, but his expression remained uncertain. "But Jameson is really strong, isn't he?" he asked, his voice hesitant.

Levi's expression grew serious. "Yes, he is. But that doesn't mean I can't beat him. I've been training hard, and I'm confident in my abilities," he said, his voice firm.

Mark looked at him, his expression softening. "I believe in you, Levi. But be careful, okay?" he said, his voice filled with concern.

Levi nodded, a grateful smile on his face. "Thanks, Mark. I will," he said, placing a hand on Mark's shoulder.

The two friends walked out of the hall, the sound of their footsteps echoing on the marble floor. As they stepped out into the bright sunlight, Levi's thoughts turned to the upcoming battle. He knew he had to train hard if he wanted to defeat Jameson.

Levi and Mark entered their dorm room, and Levi dropped his backpack on the floor. "Let's go to the training ground," he said, looking at Mark.

Mark nodded, and the two friends left the dorm room, making their way to the training ground. It was a large open field, surrounded by trees, and it was the perfect place for mages to train their skills.

Levi and Mark walked across the campus, their footsteps echoing on the cobblestone path. The sun beat down on them, casting long shadows on the ground. As they neared the training grounds, they could see the targets in the distance, waiting for them.

The training grounds were a wide open area with multiple targets set up for practicing spells. Levi and Mark often came here to hone their skills and test their abilities. As they arrived, they saw that the grounds were empty except for a few students in the distance.

Levi led the way, striding purposefully toward the nearest target. Mark followed closely behind, feeling a nervous excitement bubble up inside him. He couldn't wait to test his newfound powers.

Levi stood tall in front of the target, feeling the rush of adrenaline as he prepared to unleash his magic. He could feel the mana coursing through his veins, ready to be channeled into his attack. He raised his hand, focusing his energy on a concentrated ball of water. With a deep breath, he visualized his attack, seeing the water ball forming in his hand.

The mana swirled around his hand, growing in size and intensity. It was like a tiny vortex of water, spinning rapidly as it took on a vibrant blue glow. Levi's eyes locked onto the target, his focus was absolute. He could feel his magic building, surging within him like a tidal wave.

Without warning, he released the water ball, sending it hurtling toward the target. The ball exploded on impact, drenching the target with a burst of water. Levi smiled in satisfaction, feeling the rush of energy as he successfully hit the target.

Mark watched in awe, his eyes wide with wonder. He had never seen Levi's magic in action before, and he was impressed with the level of control and precision that Levi exhibited. He stepped up to the target, feeling the excitement building within him.
