Chapter 13 - The Wilderness Test Start

The morning of the Wilderness Test had arrived, and Levi and Mark were up bright and early, eager to get started. They had packed their bags the night before, making sure to include everything they might need for the day ahead.

As they made their way across the academy, they saw groups of students gathering in the yards, all of them carrying bags and looking nervous.

Levi and Mark eventually arrived at the designated yard, where a bus was waiting to take them to the test location. They joined the line of students waiting to board the bus, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension.

As they waited, they noticed other students they knew from their classes. Some of them looked confident and ready, while others seemed nervous and uncertain.

Once everyone was on board, the bus set off towards the wilderness location, winding through narrow roads and scenic routes. Levi and Mark gazed out the window, taking in the lush greenery and tall trees as they passed.

After a while, the bus pulled up at a clearing, and the students began to disembark. Levi and Mark stepped off the bus and looked around, taking in their surroundings.

The area was dense with trees and vegetation, making it difficult to see very far ahead. There was a small lake nearby, and the sounds of birds and animals could be heard in the distance.

As they waited for instructions, Levi and Mark noticed that there were other students who had arrived alone. The test wasn't a solo test, so anyone could team up with anybody. They scanned the area for any potential teammates, looking for someone who might complement their skills.

Levi and Mark had worked together in class before and knew they made a great team. They decided to pair up for the test and began to strategize.

They discussed their strengths and weaknesses, and how they could work together to overcome any obstacles they might encounter.

Together, they felt confident that they could tackle whatever challenges lay ahead.

As more students arrived, the professor stepped forward to announce the rules of the test. "First of all. Welcome Students," he said, his voice carrying across the clearing. "Now I want to tell you that you only needed to survive in the forest and any items you got can be kept by yourself."

The professor explained that the test would last for the entire day and that the students were free to explore the area and find their own way through the wilderness. There were no set paths or checkpoints, and the students were encouraged to work together to overcome any obstacles they encountered.

He also emphasized that the test was not a competition, but rather an opportunity for the students to learn and grow. The goal was not to be the first to finish or to outdo other teams, but to challenge themselves and develop their skills.

Levi and Mark listened carefully, taking in the professor's words. They knew that they would have to rely on each other to make it through the day, and they were determined to do their best.

As the professor finished his speech, he handed out small maps of the area and wished the students luck. The students began to disperse, some heading towards the lake to gather water, while others went deeper into the forest to find shelter.

Levi and Mark decided to focus on finding food. They knew that they would need the energy to make it through the day, and they were both skilled at foraging for wild berries and plants.

As they made their way through the dense foliage, they kept their eyes peeled for any signs of edible plants. They spotted some wild berries growing on a bush and quickly picked them, adding them to their bag.

Suddenly, they heard a rustling in the bushes up ahead. They froze, unsure of what was making the noise. Soon, they met across a boar that was looking at them, its beady eyes fixed on their every move.

Levi and Mark knew that this was not just any ordinary boar. It was a part of the test, and they would have to fight it if they wanted to survive. Mark turned to Levi and said, "What do we need to do?"

Levi thought for a moment and then replied, "Let's fight him. The point of this test is actually surviving and it includes fighting this kind of beast. We are already Beginner Mages, so we must be able to defeat it."

Mark nodded in agreement, and they both prepared for the fight. Mark with his water element and earth element Mana began to use the spell, "Muddy Ground." It made the ground around the boar muddy and slowed the boar down.

Levi was surprised to see Mark able to use that kind of spell. He had always known Mark to be nervous and a bit afraid of these things, but now he seemed to be taking charge and showing a level of bravery that Levi had never seen before.

Levi knew that they had to work together to defeat the boar, so he conjured a water spell, "Torrential Wave." A powerful wave of water shot out from his hand and crashed into the boar, causing it to stumble and fall.

The boar quickly recovered and charged toward them, its sharp tusks ready to attack. Levi and Mark quickly dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the boar's attack.

Levi saw an opening and cast another spell, "Water Whip," hitting the boar with a powerful lash of water. Mark then followed up with another spell, "Earthquake," causing the ground to shake and knocking the boar off balance.

The boar was disoriented, and Levi and Mark took advantage of the opportunity to deliver the final blow. They worked together, casting a combination spell, "Hydro Blast," which combined the power of their water and earth elements. A massive burst of water and earth shot out from their hands and hit the boar, sending it flying back.

The boar lay still, defeated. Levi and Mark stood over it, panting heavily from the exertion of the fight. They looked at each other, both amazed at what they had just accomplished.

Levi was proud of Mark. He had shown a level of skill and bravery that he hadn't seen before. Mark had stepped out of his comfort zone and had proven that he was capable of more than he thought.
