Chapter 2 - Unexpected Situations That Light Up Sparks

"Thank you," he said and walked out of the class. His heart was beating so fast for the first time and he knew that it wasn't for something good. Rayme just stood there and wondered why he left the class like that. Though she wanted to chase after him, she knew that there was no use in doing so cause he was the type to disappear in a way that anyone would never find him.

Dylan returned to the class while the next teacher was teaching. He sat down and stayed in the same position for the next hour. The only moment he moved was to answer the questions asked by the teacher.

He was lucky that it was him who was late for the class. If it was someone else, they would have been yelled at and kicked out of the class. "Being in the first place does come with its own privileges." Rayme told herself.

"Here are your books." Dylan handed over her books to her right before she got into her car.

"Thanks, I almost forgot them. Then I will wait for you this evening. My parents and siblings are not home anyway. Maybe you can stay over?" She said, out of concern.

"Thanks, but I will have to decline that offer. I have to return home at night. Otherwise, my parents will be furious but if you are afraid of being in that house all alone. You can come over to mine. My mom loves having you over anyway."

"It's not that I was scared to stay home alone. I just didn't know how to repay you for teaching me all this time. So, I thought I could at least let you stay over to save you some time."

"Enough with your reasons. I never asked you to repay for anything. Then come over to my place. I will ask my mother to prepare a room for you. 4.00PM sharp!!! Be a second late, prepare to be yelled at." He got into his car and drove away.

She drove herself home and took a shower before going through the books. She read the books once and got into her car to drive to his place.

Her eyes glowed in surprise every time she saw his gigantic house. It looked like an ancient mansion from an old folk tale. She knocked on the door and looked at the wristwatch just in case.

"Thank God!" She spoke. "There are 3 more minutes until 4.00."

Mrs. Night opened the door with a bright smile on her face, as usual. There wasn't a single day Rayme saw Mrs. Night without a smile on her face. It was as if she had never gotten angry at anything.

"Oh Rayme, come on in. Dylan is upstairs in his room. He will be down in another 2 minutes. You can go and wait in the study room. I will be there with some snacks for both of you. By the way, how are your parents and siblings? I hope they are doing well."

"Thank you for asking, Mrs. Night. They are doing well. Then… I will go and wait for him in there."

When she stepped into the study room, Dylan was already there reading a book. It was then she realized that it was already 4.05.

For the next 3 hours of time, they both studied. Apart from being yelled by Dylan for getting some questions wrong over and over again. Everything went well on her side.

Even though Mrs. Night brought some snacks, Dylan didn't leave a single second for her to eat them.

"Let's go and eat dinner now." He said, getting up from his chair.

"By the way, Dylan are you a robot? Why do you do things exactly at the same time? The way you behave sometimes doesn't feel human at all. You are like a well programmed AI."

"Thanks for the compliment, but let's go and eat dinner now. I am hungry." He said.

"That's the most human thing you said today." Rayme started smiling.

Rayme followed Dylan to the dining room and sat down alongside him at the dining table that was big enough to hold 20 people. Mr. and Mrs. Night were sitting there, smiling as usual.

"So, Rayme," it was Mr. Night. "How is your studying going on?" He asked the same old question that he would ask every time.

"Not bad Mr. Night. Thanks to Dylan, I didn't give up on everything. Even today it was his idea to study, otherwise I would have just stayed all alone without doing anything."

"Young lady, you shouldn't be thinking like that. You have a whole life ahead of you. If you can study with Dylan, it means that you are quite good at everything. I am saying this cause even I as a father can't stand the narcissist my son is."

"I have to admit to that," Rayme said with a smile on her face.

"Thanks for dinner and allowing me to stay here today," Rayme said before she digged into her food.

Mrs. Night didn't let Rayme's plate run out of food. She filled it with food every time until Rayme ate to her heart's content.

"Rayme, it's your usual room. I asked the servants to prepare it for you." Mrs. Night said, looking at me who was about to go into the study room again.

"Thank you, Mrs. Night," Rayme bowed her head a little to show how grateful she was.

"Let's do this paper before we go to sleep." Dylan called her over into the study room. "Here is your copy. Try to finish this in 2 hours. Otherwise, we both are going to be late to sleep."

She answered the whole paper without trouble, everything he thought her was in the paper. It was as if it was him who made the paper.

"I will take a look at your paper tomorrow and will let you know about the results. I am pretty sure you did well." He uttered a sentence that he had never said before.

"Say it again!" Rayme asked him to repeat, surprised at what she just heard.

"Enough! I didn't tell anything. Go to your room and sleep now!"

"Alright Alright. If you want to change, it's alright. I love that about you." Rayme said making him blush.

It was already 11.00 PM. Everyone else in the house was already asleep with only dim light glowing to show them their way to the rooms.

"Be careful of the stairs!" Dylan said before getting on.

"This is not my first time here. I will manage," Rayme said.

"We'll see." Dylan hurried up. Rayme hurried her legs to meet his speed, but that only got her to trip. But right before she fell, he grabbed her hand and pushed her to him. He could feel her body on her, but at the same time, he couldn't let go of her. If he did that, they both would lose their balance and fall.

"Didn't I tell you to be careful!" Dylan said, looking at her who was hanging on to him.

"I am going to let go of you slowly, try to get back on the stairs. You are heavy," he said.

"I want to do that too, but it seems like I sprained by ankle."

Without thinking twice, he grabbed her by one hand, and pulled her onto his body and gained balance by holding onto the railing. He carried her upstairs into his rooms and dropped her onto his bed.

"Wait there!" he said and went out of the room and came back with medicine to apply on her ankle. "Give me your foot." He said, getting on his knees.

"I can do it myself Dylan, this is not a big deal." Rayme said asking him for the medicine tube.

"Don't try to act smart with me. Let me do this for you." He spoke.

He pulled her leg and took her heels off. And gently applied the medicine on her leg and massaged her leg.

"All done," he said, putting the medicine tube aside.

"I will take you to your room now." He put her arms around her waist and took her into his arms and carried her all the way to her room.

"I already took you to your room, but I can't change your clothes for you. If you want to, I can call a servant here to change your clothes."

"There is no need to do so. Thanks to your techniques, I think I can get on my feet now. The pain will go away tomorrow, probably."

"Then I will leave now. If you need anything, ring that bell in the room. Someone will come to help you."

"Alright Alright, now get out of the room. I want to change my clothes." Rayme said. Dylan went out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Though she could still feel the pain, she took her clothes off and was about to put on her nightgown, but just then she tripped and fell.

The door opened and Dylan rushed in. Though Rayme was in her underwear, he knew that he should do something. He put his arms around her like before and helped her onto the bed. Here, wear this. He gave her the dress that she was about to wear.

Knowing that being shy would make things worse, she quickly put on the dress.

"Thank you," she said with her face red like a tomato.

"So…" Dylan said.
