3 days passed before she could even realise, though she didn't go over to his house the next few days she studied with him at the school library. Around everyone else, he had his cold annoying personality as usual and when no one was around, Dylan smiled and held her hands.
"So... did your parents give you permission to go on a trip?" Dylan asked.
"Yep. They told me to go on the trip but gave me a load of advice. They even went to the extent of telling me not to do anything stupid with you. Though they allowed me to go, they were a bit hesitant about it. Let's hope that they won't change their mind right before we go on the trip."
"I won't be coming to school tomorrow. I almost forgot to tell you that." She said. Dylan's face darkened with disappointment.
"Why though?" He asked.
"My parents told me that they will take me shopping tomorrow. I can't ignore such an opportunity. After all, it's been a while since I went shopping. Most importantly, I am getting a chance to hangout with them after a long time."
"Alright then, I will meet you the day after tomorrow. Happy Birthday in advance. I will try to get you a gift." He said with a smile.
They studied for another hour until the librarian told them to leave. He put his hand into the bag and picked out a box which was wrapped very nicely. He kept it on Rayme's book. It surprised Rayme to see him place something on her book when he talked like he got nothing for her.
"May I unwrap it?" she asked, just in case.
"Go on. I couldn't figure out what to get you and because tomorrow is a full moon day, my parents decided to buy you a gift beforehand. So, I am handing it over to you."
"I see. I will thank them when I meet them in another few days."
She was excited to see what was inside. She unwrapped the box and opened it just to see another box inside it, which seemed to be a jewelry box. After opening the box, she was stunned by what she saw. It was a rosary which was made out of a red ruby, details were added to it in gold, which made it shine even more. Seeing how expensive it was, Rayme felt like she shouldn't be accepting it, but yet she couldn't make up her mind to give it back.
It was that beautiful!
But after receiving something like that from Dylan, she had so many questions she wanted to ask him.
"Are you guys really alright with things like this?" She asked, showing him the rosary. He didn't budge upon seeing it, instead even he seemed to be stunned by the elegance of it.
"Yes, things like that can't really harm us, but if it is something that comes straight out of the church, then it would definitely have an impact on us. After all, it was my mom who bought it for you, so there is no way that it can harm any of us."
"Glad to hear that. I thought your mom was trying to test me cause she was suspected of something."
"Alright, we should leave now. Tell your parents that I am really grateful for what they got me. I will try to wear it as much as I can, but since I am the type to lose things pretty quickly, I will not wear it all the time."
Rayme was super happy with what she got. She imagined how good it would look on her when she wears it. She couldn't wait until she get home and show it to her parents are siblings. Rayme knew that they too would be surprised.
"How did you come to school today?" Dylan asked, heading to the car park.
"By bus, I didn't feel like driving." She spoke.
"Then let me give you a lift. Your home is on my way home, anyway. There is no need to go by bus."
"Well, if you insist," Rayme smiled. What she was happy about was not him offering to give her a lift, but they getting some alone time together. She got into the car, put her bag on her lap, and waited for him to start the class.
All of the sudden he stood up and reached out to Rayme's seat belt. She closed her eyes, thinking that something was about to happen. Her mind was running wild while her heart was beating fast that he she thought that it will burst any second.
He locked the seat belt and moved back to his seat. She opened her eyes, wanting to slap herself for being an idiot. Though she expected him to say something, he didn't utter a single word. Instead, he just sat there looking out of the windscreen.
"What are you thinking about?" She asked him.
He unbuckled his seat belt and reached out to her lips, kissing her, disregarding the fact that they still didn't leave the school premises. After kissing her hard, making her lips almost bled, he went back to his seat, put on his seatbelt and drove off without speaking a word until they got to her house.
"Let meet other day after tomorrow then," he said before she got off the car.
"Oh sure," she ran into the house, still red like a tomato.
She went straight into her room and closed the door and looked at herself in the mirror. Rayme continued to imagine what happened in the car again and again. As it continued to play over and over again in her head, she couldn't also help but imagine all the scenes she had seen before from the dramas.
For the first time in her life, she felt like she was the female lead of a drama.
"Rayme, come out of your room." it was her mom who was screaming. Immediately upon hearing her mother's voice she jumped out of her imaginary world and ran downstairs to see her parents and siblings there.
"Choose a cake, her mom said, showing her some photos on the phone. I know that you don't like surprises and all, so I thought I would let you decide, also make sure to invite a few of your friends. We can afford to feed at least a few of your friends."
"Also, where is that boyfriend of yours? He didn't come around recently, didn't he?"
"First of all, he is not my boyfriend and second of all, no one will be coming tomorrow. Even that person who you referred to as my boyfriend is too busy."
"Alright, alright, I am not trying to pressure you about anything. I am just thinking that you should have more friends. It's not always good to have a boy as your best friend.
"I will have this cake." Rayme showed a small, cute but yet elegant cake with white frosting and chocolate gâteaux inside.
"Nice choice," Rayme's mother said, taking the phone to dial the baker about the cake.
"Mom, I have something I want to show you. I got a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Night and it looks for freaking gorgeous. Wait! Lemme get it from upstairs." She ran back upstairs to grab the box, which contained her precious piece of jewelry.
She opened it up Infront of everyone, making everyone surprised.
"Isn't this Lady Rosalyn's rosary that was auctioned for 1 and a half million pounds a few days ago?" Rayme's mom asked her husband who too was stunned from what was Infront of them.
"Rayme, I don't care about the fact that you received it as a gift, but you should give this back to Mr. and Mrs. Night. You shouldn't posses something like this. I don't want to tell you about the tale about this rosary and Mr. and Mrs. Night probably don't know about the backstory cause they both are even much younger than me and your dad."
"Mom, what is wrong with this? I can't return this when I already accepted this from Dylan."
"No, nothing is wrong with this. This kind of thing doesn't suit us at all and believe it or not the one who used to own this piece is a daughter of two vampires who used to haunt down people, even though the history says that she was a good person that doesn't deny the fact that she was a bloodsucking monster."
"Vampires don't seem to be that bad of creatures, its not like they have done anything to humans in the present society." Rayme awakened her voice, not wanting to hear her parents talk bad about the other kind.
"I am aware of that, but that is not the problem here. What matters is who the owner of it was!!"
"What ever it is you are going to tell me I am going to keep it but for your sake, I will only wear it only when I meet them. I have to be grateful for what they gave me."
"You can do whatever you want, but I will not be there if you are suffering from its consequences."
"Since you want to be that grateful to them, you can use the gold chain in my drawer for that rosary and wear in at least for a few pictures on your birthday. We can't ignore the fact that they were grateful to gift you something."
