Chapter 3 - An Unexpected Confession

Yes, Rayme said as she gulped down her saliva, afraid that he will ask something lewd, but when she looked at his straight face, she was reminded of the fact that he was not a person like that.

"there is no need to be shy. I will not talk about that situation or tell anyone about it. What matters now is whether you are really alright. You only tripped yourself and sprained your ankle, but you are in a state like this."

"Are you super sure that you didn't dislocate a bone or something?"

"Yes, I am sure something like that didn't happen and come on, I fell down while trying to change my clothes. It's no big deal." Rayme adopted herself to suit the situation.

He kept looking at her eyes as if he had something to tell, but no matter how much he kept looking at her eyes, he couldn't bring himself to ask her for something like that.

"What are you going to do on your birthday? It's your 18th birthday after all." He asked, sitting by her side on the bed.

"Probably just gonna cut a cake," Rayme replied.

"Well, if that's the case, do you wanna hangout after cutting the cake? You are finally going to be an adult, after all. I kinda feel like I need to do something for you, since I have never done anything for you."

"Hey come on, you are freaking me out. Whats with his sudden change of attitude? It's like you are a completely different person." She was excited and scared at the same it. It was not that she didn't like the change, but was scared that something was going on.

"Dylan, you know what? They say that if you change suddenly, you die. So, I think it is better if you just go back to being your old self. I am quite used to that, anyway. After all, it is that personality of yours that allowed me to be this friendly with you."

"I can die even if I wanted to, so stop spewing out such nonsense." Dylan said without thinking much.

"Well, it's not like you are a vampire. If you are a human, you are bound to die." She spoke.

"What if I am not human? Will you still be a friend of mine?" He looked straight into her eyes as he asked that.

"Come on, stop joking. If you were a vampire, I know that you won't hide it from me and apart from that, I am not that of a stupid person not to identify the difference between a vampire and a human."

"What if you are stupid?" he got much closer to her as she asked that question. He looked at her with his ocean blue eyes.

"Will you admit the fact that you are stupid?" He brought his face so closer to her. She had nowhere else to look other than his eyes.

"I am not stupid, and you are not a vampire. If you are indeed a vampire, I think I have a favor to ask you."

"Tell me what it is? I will give you anything."

"You are being so weird today." Rayme said, but deep down in her heart she was enjoying the moment. She loved how close they were, though she never had feelings for him. However, even if he wanted something from her, she was ready to give it to him. Cause she knew that her life already belonged to him. Without him, she knew that she would not be alive.

"Alright then, I will believe that you are a vampire. Can you bite me if you really are a vampire?"

"I can, but I don't think that's a good idea. Aren't you afraid that you will turn into a horrifying creature that sucks human blood to stay alive?"

"I don't really mind. I have been obsessed about vampires for a while now and I don't mind even if one bites me and I turn into one." She continued expressing all her dark ideas.

"Sorry to disappoint you, but that is not how it works." He went back to his old position.

"Dylan, are you seriously admitting to the fact that you are a vampire?" she asked, just to make sure. For the first time, she felt a chill running down her spine upon hearing that. Though she had always wanted to meet someone different from her, she felt uneasy hearing that he was a vampire.

Upon seeing the reactions on her face change, Dylan moved to the corner of the bed and continued t sit there looking down.

"It was not like I wanted to hide this from you..." He finally awakened his voice.

"I still can't believe that you actually are a vampire," she said. "I don't hate you or disappointed at you or anything. It's just that I can't believe how well you hid your true identity from everyone, including me, all this time."

"Also, it's not like I knew you for a few months. It's been 4 years already. 4 years!!! It's not a small amount of time. I never realized how different you were."

"Also, don't sit that away from me. I was enjoying that vampire role play thing until I realized that you actually were a vampire." She spoke.

"You are into role playing?" He asked in surprise.

She quickly looked away, realizing what she just said. Her face was red, like a tomato again.

"Can I talk to you about something?" Dylan asked her.

"I will listen to you whatever it is going to be about," she said looking at his eyes. She moved closer to him, feeling that he had something serious to say.

"My situation is not like yours at all." He started. "I know you suffer a lot because of everything that is going on with your family, but I am someone who is not allowed to be in love. I did love a few, but I could never get together with one."

"Why?"

"Cause the law states that vampires are not allowed to fall in love with humans. In return for not falling in love with humans, we receive fresh blood from the government. That is how our kind continued to exist so far."

"It is wrong of me to tell you this, but I think I should tell you this cause I don't know if I will ever get a chance to do so. I wasn't planning to tell you anything at all, but all the stuff that just happened made me awaken my feelings."

"At first I approached you because I liked you, from the way you behaved I seriously thought that you were a vampire and I was finally lucky to meet someone perfect for me but the first day I mastered up my courage to talk with you I realized that you were not a vampire. So, I had to bury my feelings for you. Then you opened yourself up to me."

"Though I didn't know how to react to everything that you were telling me, I was happy to hear you talk about things that you won't talk with anyone else." He continued.

"Dylan, I am going to do something now. Whatever you want to do, we can do it. It is your choice and I am okay with anything." Before even a second could pass, Rayme jumped onto him and kissed his lips. She closed her eyes, not expecting anything else in return.

For a moment she thought that she would be rejected, but instead his lips moved gently while caressing her long black hair with his hand. He broke the kiss and pushed her away, getting on top of her and continuing the broken kiss.

Adrenaline rushed through Rayme's heart as he moved his hand onto the straps of her dress. But it was only for a moment he touched her color bone. He quickly moved away from her and got off the bed.

"We shall continue this when you turn 18 next week. I can't break the promise I made to my mother." He walked out of the room, closing the door.

Rayme couldn't believe what just happened. She was feeling as if she was in heaven while he kissed her and caressed her, but when he broke the kiss and got off the bed, it felt like hell as her feelings and emotions came crumbling down.

She wanted something more than a kiss but she understood that it was wrong to do so as she understood the fact that her being underage would have made him feel uneasy about what was about to happen.

She buried herself in the pillows and went to sleep.
