Chereads / ANNA'S AWAKENING / Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO

Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO

"...Jay, not today, please. I am in a good mood today. Can we not talk about them?""Okay," Jay said, lifting both arms in the air. "I had a dream today," Anna digressed. "Your nightmare about a werewolf, again?"

"It's a dream and not a nightmare. And it was not about a werewolf but, the Alpha werewolf.""I told you they do not ex..."

"...I know you have said that a zillion times. But did you listen to the news this morning?" "Nope, because my dad forced me to go take some military college application exams today, when he knows completely well, that I am a born artist." "Oh, wow," she said, expressing little or no care about his career.

Then she immediately digressed, "Well, the news said, a random shop attendant complained about his shop being ravaged last night; like a group of dogs destroyed it. And CCTV footage captured a beast, that same night; a beast twice the size of a human and as fast as lightning."

Jay said, "Well, it could be a..."

"...Anna is your friend not done eating his 5 bucks, muffins?" Mom interrupted their conversation.

"No Ma'am, I am not. Remember, a customer is always right," Jay replied to her.

"Well, other customers would like to use your seat now, Mr. Customer,"

"But, the cafe is empty Ma'am," he replied to her again. He was literarily the only customer available.

"Son, your 5 bucks fee has expired," she said in an uninviting manner. Jay could decode the indirect message she communicated, so he packed his stuff to exit.

"Anna, painting tonight?" The last question he asked her.

"Nope, you know I paint better when I am angry. But, today, I feel different and I am so in my best mood." He was disappointed.

"Alright, see you later, Anna."

The sun had journeyed to the other side of the earth, while the moon rested in Vallout. It was a super-moon. Anna believed it to be the time werewolves were at their strongest and fastest. She was a selenophile; she would usually go outside the corridor to see the moon and fantasize about being at her peak when the moon was set, but tonight she was extremely excited and decided to stay indoors. One of the reasons for staying indoors was to quickly fall asleep so she could go back to her dreams.

The mood at home tonight was hunky-dory until Anna declined to help Isabel do her homework. The 15-year-old Isabel was furious. She always wanted to be in the position above Anna, so she could boss her around and have her do her dirty work, despite Anna being older than her.

She walked into the sitting room and said, "Daddy, I asked Anna to help out with my homework again, but she refused. And now she wants to fall asleep." Isabel whined to Dad. Dad and Mom were sitting in the sitting room, watching TV that night.

"Do it yourself. She is probably tired and needs rest," Dad responded.

"Daddy, if I could I would." Isabel still whined, faking tears also.

"There is no homework you ever do yourself. Anna is always helping out." Dad began to let loose.

"What are you insinuating, Honey?" Mom questioned Dad. "You trying to say my daughter is dumb?" Dad had no answer to that question "Anna, Anna!" Mom yelled, summoning her.

"Isabel do your homework for once, please," Dad let loose. He had a hectic day.

"What do you mean? What are you insinuating? Use your words." Mom roared. It was already turning into an argument. Anna ran in just then.

Dad then continued, "I've told you countless times Isabel, Anna is your older sister and, not just some homework machine."

"Dad you keep taking sides with her always as if she is yours," Isabel said.

"What!" Dad exclaimed. That was an expensive statement. This an expensive statement that should not have been said. But, Isabel felt no remorse after saying it. Anna heard it loud and clear, and it rang like an alarm in her head.

"Where did you learn such an unruly statement from?" Dad further yelled.

"Is she not speaking the truth?" Mom chipped in. "Is Anna yours?" She further questioned. Anna had begun to weep just then. Reminding her of her place left her with a sour taste in her mouth.

"Honey, I told you to not speak of this in presence of the kids, ever." Dad went furious with Mom now. He continued, "You are the cause of this!" Dad yelled and the entire sitting room vibrated. Anna's weeping had heightened by then. Dad angrily dashed to his room; he needed some air and alone time. Isabel also angrily left for her room.

Today, was one of Anna's happiest days on earth, but the attitude from her mom and kid sister began to rue the night. She ran out of the house with tears in her eyes. She ran two streets away from home and sat by the trashcan to weep. The streets were almost deserted, as it was late that night. Anna wept non-stop; she wept until her eyes turned red. Weeping could not take the pain she felt at that point, so she thought painting it out would do so. She placed a call to her partner in crime for wall painting, Jay.

Although she was not sure that he would give a positive reply to her proposal, because it was late that night, and Jay's dad was a helicopter dad. It took Jay very few minutes to arrive. Asides from being a best friend, he was a secret admirer. However, being a best friend somewhat automatically reminded him of his position in her life, as just a friend and nothing more. The instance he arrived, he noticed she had just wept, but she tried to sweep it under the rug. He still insisted on knowing what went wrong.

"Please, tell me what went wrong?" He asked.

"Do not worry, it is just family stuff. I am over it now you are here…" He blushed, immediately. "…For painting." She completed the statement, and he wore an unnoticeable frown on his face.

"So, what are we painting today?" He digressed.

"Umm, we are painting a werewolf."

"Have we not done that countless times?" Jay asked.

"Yes, we have, but not the Alpha werewolf."

"You know I cannot paint what I have never seen. Those species are extinct; nobody has seen them or has a picture of what they look like."

"Like I told you. I dreamt about it today and I am bringing it out of my mind and placing it in this random people's old farmhouse wall." She then laughed. He laughed out too.
