Chereads / ANNA'S AWAKENING / Chapter 7 - CHAPTER SEVEN

Chapter 7 - CHAPTER SEVEN

"Now, the bitter truth is that my army cannot put a stop to Drex alone, but they can prevent him from causing more disorder. Therefore, we will need to adopt her to teach her the ways of the Alpha werewolf so she can put an end to this terrorism against the City of Vallout.""Never! Never!" President Prescott yelled at him over the phone.

"You must be out of your mind if you think I would let you adopt her," he continued. Just then, he hung up the call. His frustration set in again, even now higher than before. He began to drink again. "That is never happening, Your Excellency." Commander Jamal said to him. Another night in the City of Vallout, although the sun was still on its way to the City of Vallout and the moon journeying to the other part of the earth.

A knock hit the backdoor of Anna's. It was his Dad; he had first tried to open it, but it would not open. He could not use the front door, and this was because journalists from various media houses had occupied the front door. The headlines on the news today were not the regular ones. They included: 'Return the werewolf girl.' 'Werewolf falls in love with a 17-Year-old girl.' 'Awaiting Anna's awakening.'

After a continuous knock, Dad relented. He thought no one would open up the doors. Suddenly Isabel came to open it up. "Why did you not open the door earlier?" Dad yelled at her. He was extremely mad and she could see this. "Not my fault. We thought it was one of those reporters." He ignored her, "Where is your mother?"

He roared as he walked into the kitchen in search of her. However, she was not in the kitchen. He walked into the sitting room and sighted her there. "What have you done, Angela?" Dad questioned her. He was furious, the reason being he called her by her real name, and spoke with such intonation.

"Has she awakened?"

"Do not give me that crap reaction. You and I know you do not care about her."

"And you do not care about my children and me!" She yelled back at him, it was already beginning to look like an argument. Isabel and Sam did not like the atmosphere in the house right now, likewise Baby, but it was just a matter of time before Baby began wailing loudly.

"What the hell are you insinuating?" Dad yelled back at Mom.

"You are not here because your family is in the public eye and you want to protect them. You are here because of Anna." "You should hear yourself speak, Angela. You should listen to how you sound right now. You brought this upon us all! You did!" His last sentence left her in thoughts. "'I should hear myself speak'," she spoke in a calm tune now. "So, you are insinuating I'm sounding… Stupid?"

"Your words not mine."

"You are abusing me?" She spoke with her teary voice.

"Do not victimize yourself here!" Dad yelled again. "Look around you; everywhere on the internet and the media the city is on fire. And your face, my name, and all our important certificates are in the midst of it all; you put this family amid the fucking chaos, happening in the City of Vallout."

"I am disappointed in you, Richard."

"Are you not listening to what I am saying, Angela? Why the hell did you display our family identity to the public?" She then walked away; headed for her room to lock herself. The baby had begun to cry just then.

"Walking away? Is that how you solve problems you created? What was your initial intention when you let all our information out? What? And how is it coming out for you?" She had entered the room just then. Dad was confused. He sat on the couch lost in thoughts and Sam approached him just then.

"Dad, when will the werewolf crisis die down?" he asked. Sam was extremely scared and Dad could feel it from the sound of his shaky voice.

"Soon, my son, soon," Dad replied and then hugged him. He wanted to explain to Dad all the media shenanigans that occurred in school today and how students were pointing and spreading taciturn at him and Isabel, but he could see that Dad already had a lot going through his mind.

Dad continued, "I am certain that President Prescott and his aides are working their fingers to the bone to put an end to the werewolf attack."

"What of Anna would she be part of the fighters who will put an end to it?"

Just then, Dad's phone rang. It was a call from the hospital. They had told him of the newest development of Anna's condition. How she shivered uncontrollably. How her body kept jerking and vibrating and there was absolutely nothing they could do to calm the situation down. All their injections had failed. They had to call on the military officers to come to bind her together but to no avail.

Immediately after the call, from the doctor to dad, the hospital faced an attack. It was their worst nightmare, Drex, the last of the alpha werewolf. And while the military officers were in a fight with Drex around the hospital perimeter, her body continued to vibrate even more aggressively. The face-off between Drex and the military officers, this time around was more brutal; brutal than the one that occurred during the period he infected her.

They had something he needed and there was no going back for him, neither was there any stopping him. The silver bullet they used to chase him off at his last attack had exhausted, and it would take longer for them to reproduce more; which was presently ongoing at the moment. The humans were not prepared for this attack, nor were they prepared for a werewolf attack on the City of Vallout recently.

The war at the hospital was grave; he showed no mercy. He devoured the military officers like a wolf attacking a chicken barn. He ate parts of their bodies the moment he got close to them; like chewing off the head from the body or the arm. And even using his claws to rip off the throat from the necks. The City of Vallout had never experienced such in a long while.

Citizens of Vallout, who had not been alive four hundred years before now, would say this had never occurred. The guns the military officers used were no match for his terror. He attacked both civilians and military officers at the hospital; the threats and the non-threats. Including the patients in the hospital, he went on from ward to ward, in search of Anna's body. And, when he did not see her body there, he would murder the patient; including the patient's visitors. The attack today was unlike any attack; one could refer to it as a payback for spilling his blood in the last battle.
