Lin Yunfeng was finally freed from the wretched hospital. they left home with the escort of a few bodyguards that Jai's father had hired for him. but Yunfeng did not like them following him around.
They reached home after a few hours. The bodyguards stopped them before entering to check the house and made sure that their house was safe. only after that were they allowed inside.
the bodyguards were done with their duty and left after giving him their number.
Yunfeng quickly started to haul in the bags his mum had packed. unbeknownst to him his mother had packed three bags of stuff just for a few days in the hospital.
"Yun-ah, go inside and sit down. mum will carry it in," his mum gently held his casted hand.
"where's Hana, ask her to carry it in," he frowningly took the luggage from her hand.
"She is at school obviously. give that here," she plucked the bag from him and steadily walked into their house.
Yunfeng stood in front of their house glancing at it with his eyes narrowed.
They were currently living in a two-story rental house. It was not in a bad shape but the only problem was that their house was surrounded by multiple five-story buildings. When there were any infected people in their neighborhood houses, they can easily jump into the house through the open window or a balcony.
It was a big safety hazard.
"We should move to the outskirts." He mumbled softly.
"Tsk, how will your sister go to school then huh?" his mum said from behind as she was unloading his bag.
He took the heavy bag from her hand and shouldered it. "If war does happen, they will attack the city first and foremost. What if we get implicated."
They will attack the city. Because s city was ground zero for the tera virus attack. If they stayed in the city grounds, they would not be able to fight back the initial wave.
After three or four days when they all differentiated into omega alpha and beta, they would gain powers and would be able to fight back. until then he needed to keep his family in closed quarters safe and sound.
Outskirts were the best solution he can come up with.
If they moved to a rural area, it was more than better but he had an inkling his mother and sister would hate that and would be against it.
So, for now he secretly planned on moving his family to the outskirts.
The evening came around sooner than he had expected and his mum left to clean their restaurant. Yunfeng hurriedly changed into his work uniform and went to the restaurant.
Yunfeng arranged his tie gazing at his reflection. 'I should buy bags of rice. What would I answer I my mum asks me? Maybe If I hid it under my bed. but even so, she will know when she is cleaning my room.'
He removed the tie again and made sure to tie it properly.
The best solution was to rent another house and store all the nonperishables in that place. And when the tera virus is about to hit them, he would move his family there.
'that is the best solution.' Taking his phone out he quickly sent a message to Jai. {'jai can you help me find a rental property in the outskirts. I want a house in a deserted area with not any house people around.'}
The reply came immediately {'what kind of illegal things are you planning to do? Are you planning on killing someone? Gasp, don't leave evidence. call me if you need to sweep the blood off the floor~'}
Yunfeng rolled his eyes. {'nah I'm planning on moving to the outskirts.'}
As he was typing his reply his phone rang. It was none other than Jai himself. "Why? your work is here. your school is here. what is going on? Did you get trauma from that attack? I have the best psychologist with me. You must attend a session. Dad, Yunfeng wants a psychologist. Why don't I give him all my sessions!"
"I don't want your sessions."
"You need it," he said resolutely.
But he knew his find was just trying to get out of the sessions himself.
Sighing Yunfeng gazed at his own reflection. After two days in the hospital, he had lost a bit of his baby fat. His cheek had chiseled out making his sharp jawline pop. Weirdly so he looked much more handsome rather than cute.
He smiled at his reflection.
"Dad, Yun wants to be treated for his trauma too! See he is going crazy!"
"I'm not going crazy." He massaged his brows. "Look I want to move because I want to spend less on rent. As for transit, we have our metro connections, right? We don't have to worry about that. it only takes an hour or so to get to school or for Mum to get to work."
His friend on the line paused for a few seconds. "So, you don't have trauma?"
"Nope." he closed his locker. "But you do, don't you?"
The last eh aw jai was during that shooting. The or guy had been trembling like a leaf and clinging to his arm.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"it's nothing." Jai tried to sound nonchalant but even through the line Yunfeng could hear a slight tremble in his voice.
"it's clearly not nothing. What happened to you?"
"it was just a simple thing. When I was young, I was kidnapped and they tried to shoot me. But cops found us and shot that guy whoop whoop that's all. Nothing much,"
Yunfeng frowned deeply. "it's clearly not nothing. You must get your trauma checked."
jai scoffed loudly. "Anyways ill check in with a few of my family members to see if they have a remote house. after saving my life my dad is bound to give you one. Talk to you later." He opened the locker again to keep his phone in.
"Hey!"
"What? I've got to go Yun ill talk to you later byeeee." Jai cut the phone before he could reject this so-called gift offer.
he was in dire need of a safe house but he was not that desperate enough to mooch off of his friend.
'But how am I going to earn that much money in such a short time? I can borrow money, right? I will definitely repay jai…. with my labor? maybe… aghhh this is so hard to figure out."
as a rich second generation, he had never had to worry about money before. but now that he was a broke as a shattered vase, he had nothing much going on in his bank account.
someone suddenly grabbed him by his shoulders
tiffing up Yunfeng swung his fist instinctively.
"Whoa!" Liang dodged with his eyes wide open. "Easy tiger. its me."
Yunfeng sighed. "Sorry. I'm just on the edge."
"I can see that." his eyes fell on his cast "You actually came to work with your broken arm? Gods you are the crazy kind. Go back home."
Yunfeng rolled his eyes. "My arm is fine. I can work even with a single arm." He was indeed telling the truth. His left shoulder has already healed over and he could even feel the itchy new layer of skin formed over the bullet wound. But the doctors did not believe him and refused to take the cast off.
The cast was not that much of a disturbance. he could do anything a normal person can with both hands.
Yunfeng frowned slightly. 'Should I just cut it off? no, mum will whoop my ass of I did…'
Liang frowned. even more. "Is it that bad?" he slightly tapped on the cast. "How did you break it?'
"I got shot,"
This got the whole kitchen's attention. Even the head chef put his head out and gazed at him in surprise.
"Shot!"
"Oh my god! he must have been mugged."
"Kid don't go out at night. You're too pretty to be roaming around alone. it's not safe as you think," the head chef said with a frown.
Liang was the only one who seemed to be calm through all this. "What happened?"
"I didn't do anything. Someone was trying to kill someone else and I just got in the way. Got shot. It's not that bad though. Just a flesh wound. The doctor said I can get this removed in a day." He lied through his teeth.
"that's good." Liang patted his back. "But why are you here If you are that badly wounded?"
"I need the cash. Desperately. Is it okay if I work, please? I really really need the money." He gazed at their floor manager who was a balding ola man. he frowned gazing up and down at him
"I'm going to ask mister jai about this."
"Please don't ask him. Let me just work. I can do everything sees." he flexed his casted arm. "I can work…"
Liang sighed and gestured to the floor manager. "You can work in the kitchen for today. Just help them out, okay."
"thanks~"
Yunfeng ran into the kitchen to assist the chefs.
But soon Liang came in with a frown. "Yun the people in room 12 are asking for you."
"Me?" Yunfeng raised a brow.
"Yes you, here help me serve this." he moved the dishes on the small service cart for Yunfeng to move them with ease.
