Edward was closing up his office for the day when he heard an ear-piercing boom. He rushed to the nearest window to check what had caused it, but could only see a crowd of panicking students and startled staff. They'd seen what had taken place. The day had been still, as the setting sun cast shades of orange on the school, till an explosion. In the shape of a dome, it had rapidly risen high up to the sky, then burst. The sound it released was enough to strike fear into the bravest of hearts.
"What happened?" Edward sternly asked a teacher once he got out of the staff building.
"I don't know." The teacher, a middle-aged harpy with short dark hair, replied, her eyes nervously darting from one point to another. "It came from the woods."
