Chapter 35 - Chapter 32

So let's start from the beginning. For seven centuries I lived among humans and I have been living a domestic life ever since. Obviously, I avoided having women in my life because of the person I was prior the seven centuries and having life of a normal person, gave me peace for a change. But no matter where I went, my past kept on chasing after me and after what Bonnie told me last night, I knew then and there that this Matias guy was going to be a problem.

Two weeks ago Ishtar, a friend of mine, warned me about some cult that hunt Incubi in this town and have been for years now, explaining why they gave been so rare in this town. They became suspicious of my whereabouts and she obviously told me to be careful. Then one night I was persued by a bunch of those hunters and it was same night on the day I first met Bonnie. I killed them with ease, but one of them survived and I didn't think that the one who got away, was this brat all this time.

The moment Bonnie told me about him last night, made it all click. It all came to me that the reason he approached her like that, was because he knew what I was. I didn't feel threatened by him in any case, but he was trying to get between Bonnie and me.

I have tried to tell Bonnie the truth about who I am, what I am, countless times. But after I heard her backstory, I knew that the girl has been through enough already and I couldn't bring it over myself to burden her. She was a human and I was the Incubus prince. She was mortal and I was immortal. She had a real normal life and all I had was this fake normal life I tried to give myself, because I knew from the start that all the chaos would follow behind me like a tail. I needed to protect her from this, I needed to protect her from myself.

I left her home too soon and may have pulled off a dick move when I just read her message, without replying back. I hardly knew what to say after that, or what to tell her. I didn't want her to deal with all of this, so my priority at the moment was to take care of this Matias situation and fast.

It was then when I heard the doorbell ring and sensing that it was Ishtar, I headed downstairs to open the door right before I invited her in.

"Hey there tiger." She stared at me with her fiery eyes before she walked in and grinned. "You look like you need a tequila!"

I huffed and rolled my eyes, slamming the door shut. "Believe me, that's the last thing on my mind right now."

"Where's the lady of the house?" She stopped midway and turned to look back at me. "I was hoping to meet her at least."

I looked at her and scratched the back of my neck, keeping my lips pressed together. She was referring to Bonnie, as I had told her about her. I usually tell Ishtar everything.

"She's at her home," I then said and walked to the living room, closing this subject. "We have to talk about this Matias Clive boy. He's becoming a serious problem and I believe we should get rid of him and this stupid cult he's with."

"Okay, someone is pissed off!" She widened her eyes dramatically and came striding after me. "But is leaving more corpses around really the answer? I thought you left that part of you behind."

"This is different. I'm trying to protect Bonnie."

"From the truth?"

I looked at her and glared. That wasn't part of this conversation. "No, from this filthy cult. Matias already suspected that Bonnie and I are seeing each other, which means this cult clearly knows something about me and that Bonnie might soon become a target, so that they could get to me!"

"Oh..."

I huffed and stood next to the window, leaning my hand against the glass, I was so tempted to punch into pieces. "...I do want to tell her the truth, Ishtar, but not like this. Not when there's all this shit we still have to deal with."

"I get that." She walked closer and stood next to me. "But, you seemed to have forgotten who you are and to what great lengths you would go to protect your family." Her words had me thinking. She placed her hand on my shoulder and gently squeezed. "You are THE Tobit Asmodeus. If people mess with you, you don't let them get away with it, especially when they are a threat to our queen."

"So you agree with me?"

"I sure as hell do."

"Then let's find this stupid cult, starting with finding that Matias brat."

"Consider it done." Her lips curled up and she turned on her heels to make an exit.

I watched Ishtar leave the room and then folded my arms. I woke up with another morning wood, and I regretted leaving Bonnie alone like that last night. I had to make it up to her.

"Uhm...Tobit..." I heard Ishtar and turned my head seeing her standing again by the living room doorway. "I think your soulmate, may have just seen me open the door. I think she just left and I think she got the wrong idea..."

"What!?"

Bonnie was there?! I immediately rushed outside to see for myself and as soon as I got out, I saw a black cab driving away. I then checked my phone and I saw a message.

Princess: I'm getting a transfer. I don't want to ever see you again.
