My hand was held over my mouth. This entire scene before me was like a nightmare and I even stopped struggling. This had to be a bad dream, Matias would never kill someone. Or at least that was what I believed.
The flames were flaring and his body was just lying there staring at me. Matias walked closer to us and I immediately freed myself from his mother's grip as soon as she let her guard down.
"Bonnie..." He tried talking with me. "He's not who he pretends to be."
I only looked at him and all I felt in that moment was anger, heartbreak, betrayal...and hate.
"He never pretended to be anything to me!" I held my fists tightly even as the tears were threatening to spill out. All that pain and grief came at me one wave after another and all I could think of was taking out my anger and to not feel anything. I didn't want to feel that feeling again. "You killed him!"
"He was already dead."
"What's that supposed to mean!?"
"It means that he's not human!"
I laughed and shook my head. This wasn't exactly laughable, but Matias was clearly crazy. But this anger I felt, it started to feel more like rage. And from rage it just turned into something else.
I had just realized that I loved Tobit and he got stabbed and burnt infront of my eyes before I could even tell him any of that. I didn't know what would become of me now anymore.
I distanced myself from both him and his mother. I looked at her and all I saw was guilt on her face. But I felt betrayed. It seemed to me like she had known about this all along, it was almost like she and her son planned this murder together.
I wanted to run because now I no longer felt safe. But even if I ran, where would I go? I had nowhere to run to and I certainly will not run back to a life where Tobit wasn't in it.
And then Tobit's voice suddenly broke through from his corpse. "You're going to need more than that to kill a devil, you filth..."
All three of us turned our heads in shock. His body was burnt all covered in burnt flesh and blisters. But he was standing up like he didn't feel any pain and soon after that I witness how every part of flesh got sewn back together and how the blisters all faded.
What once was a burnt body, now became fully and healed body, even steam came off his skin. His hair grew back and so did his beautiful eyes become green again. He was standing there like a perfectly formed art work, like he never got burnt. And there also was no traces of a stab wound in his chest.
I witnessed the impossible happening before me and even though I should've freaked out, I didn't. Something about the atmosphere around me suddenly became lighter. I didn't feel in danger anymore, I felt safe.
"W-what are you?" Matias asked, his voice shaky.
I turned my head and saw how Matias and his mother suddenly looked afraid. They should be. They literally just tried to kill my boyfriend and somehow he got ressurected.
Tobit tilted his head and smiled. "People call me a lot of things, but it's Prince Asmodeus to you. Stabbing me with an object dipped in holy water, doesn't kill me and not even hell fire can kill me. I was born inside it."
Matias stood defensively, holding the spear he used in his hand. "... No way. You're one of them. You're from the royal family, but you should be a myth!"
"I still would've been, if only you kept your nose out of my business." Tobit said, gritting his teeth. He then looked at me and for a moment his gaze softened before he held a hand out to reach for me. "Come on, love."
"Bonnie don't go." Matias tried to stop me.
I only rolled my eyes and walked to Tobit, not even noticing that he was naked because his clothes were burnt. He wrapped his arms around me right before burying his nose into my neck, for a brief moment ignoring the other two right before he looked at them.
"Tell your little cult this. Tell them to stay the hell away from me and Bonnie. I came to this town because I only wanted to live in peace, but if any one of you gets in my way or even threatens Bonnie again, I will retaliate. And you won't like it." His voice became deeper and honestly hearing him threaten them like that, was hot. Suddenly I noticed another change and it was like his skin turned red. It became more reddish and so did it his body starts to grow in size too till he stood like an 8 foot giant over me.
His muscles became more defined and every dip was even more taut and sculptured. It was even harder to miss the thin layer of hair over his chest and how his hair seemed a bit longer and darker even. Two cute horns were on his head too and around my leg came his tail, wrapping tightly around it. He looked exactly like the monster I saw in that photo.
But he didn't look like a monster to me. This was incredible to see and I honestly have never seen anything so beautiful, almost godly like to witness such a transformation. Matias was infact right, Tobit wasn't human he was something else. But I knew deep down inside that he wasn't a monster and wouldn't hurt innocent people like Matias claimed he did.
I had so many questions and so many answers I wanted to know, but all I knew in that moment was that I wanted Tobit to take me away from there.
He picked me up, using only one arm around my waist while my arms looped around my neck. And then leaped into the sky and flied away with me in his arms.
