Chapter 10 - The End of Hope

Zendoria hops down into the hole, hoping to find anything resembling Baezel Yami. She found the Saiyan nearly dead, clothes tattered and covered in rubble. The demon removed the giant rock covering his body, and dusted off his face.

Suddenly, the ground begins to rumble violently, and a bunch of ki is coming together in the hole. The Grand Battlers can all sense the powerful ki signature, and while they're all jaw-dropped, pants-pissed, shaking-in-their-boots terrified, Zendoria is rejoicing. An enormous, blinding purple and lavender beam of light forms in the crater. A shadowy figure appears within it, that being Baezel Yami. And as they can tell from his voice, he's enraged beyond belief. The pillar of light disappears, revealing him in Super Saiyan 2.

Baezel Yami roars with fury, his aura increasing in size, with electricity shooting out from it in the form of large beams. Black ki begins to come towards the beam of light, and the beam then becomes more of a ball of ki surrounding Baezel Yami. His eyes glow pink, as his hair flickers from gold to amethyst. His eyes flicker from blue to a blood red. And his erratic, flame-like aura goes from gold with blue electricity to violet with neon pink electricity. It also becomes a dual aura: the outer being dark purple while the inner is violet and has a similar aura to that of Super Saiyan Blue. The beam of light dissipates, and Baezel Yami is revealed in this form. His muscle mass has increased quite noticeably, with veins popping out.

"This form...this is quite different from Super Saiyan 2," he comments. Zendoria slinks away, knowing that this is the culmination of all her work. The first part of her plan is done here. Baezel Yami has become powerful enough to wipe out the Grand Battlers - her opposition - with ease, and now the second part can begin, where she just goes to the sidelines and watches.

"So uh…what now?" Baezel yells.

"I dunno," Baezel Yami says. "I never thought I'd get this far. Guess I'll start by killing all of YOU!"

With speed faster than the Grand Battlers can comprehend, Baezel Yami launches himself at the group, throwing a punch. Baezel is able to block it, but this punch hurts like hell, and thus sends him flying through multiple buildings. There's no way the Grand Battlers will win this fight. They can either run away or stay, but Baezel's friends are pretty sure that the first option is better for them in the long run.

The team tried to fly away, but Yami smirked at this attempt. He jabbed Draft in the cheek, teleported and broke Parakress's nose, then gutted Radichio with his knee and finally sledgehammered Baezel into the ground, all of which happened in the same nanosecond. The entire team feels like they've been crippled, then Baezel Yami lands and proceeds to stomp on Baezel's head. He screams in agony, as he feels his head being flattened.

He steps off, and kicks Baezel in the side, knocking him into a building. He walks over to Radichio, and stomps on his stomach, twisting his boot on it. He then walks over to Draft, who tries to get up from the beating. He points a finger at him, and within less than a second, Draft has several tiny bleeding holes in him. The cyborg collapses, not dead, but close to it. Parakress is saved for last, being shot in the heart, both arms and both legs. The battle-hardened Saiyan falls to the ground, unconscious.

He just leaves them all there to die, as if he tortured the group because he felt like it. It is at this point that they've unofficially lost this fight.

Baezel weakly utters, "Wait, Yami...please...just give us 24 hours...24 hours is all we need. If you do that, we'll come back and give you the greatest challenge you could ask for."

Baezel Yami considers it, and he seems to weigh his options.

"Alright, fine. You've got 24 hours," he says. "However, these are the terms you'll have to follow. Since you guys get a free day to do what you need to do, we'll have our day of fun as well. It is to last exactly 24 hours - nothing more, nothing less. And while we get to have our fun day, you are not to interfere, even if we're killing people. Otherwise, we will crush you like the insects you are. Understood?"

"Y - yes," Baezel says. He descends down to the ground and slowly flies away with his friends, knowing that they have a whole day to do as they please. But, this means that Baezel Yami and Zendoria have about a day to make the human race go extinct before the Grand Battlers come back.

During the time it takes to get Zendoria to agree to a day of peace, the four of them go back to Baezel's house. Lemogras and Okara are there, trying their best to keep Dana alive, who at this point is clinging onto life like a thread.

Baezel kicks open the door and runs upstairs to Dana's room. "Dana! Honey!" he says. "You alright?" He runs to her side and holds her hand, which is slowly getting colder.

"Heh, alright is not a word I'd use to describe being shot in the head," she says.

Baezel, still in a state of slight distress, says, "Oh, thank God you're okay. Stay here, I'll find something to heal you!"

He runs downstairs and throws himself into the first thing that he sees, which happens to be the medicine cabinet. After raiding it for all the medicine it will hold, he goes upstairs and sifts through the medicine, eventually finding a cloth. He wraps it around Dana's head, which is bleeding out, and she rises out of bed.

Weakly, she says to Baezel, "Listen…these may be my final moments...so I want to tell you something."

"Yeah?"

"Today...wasn't exactly the best family outing ever, wasn't it?"

"No...in fact, I'd say it started off as one of the best, but then became one of the worst."

"Hm. I see. Well, I have one last thing to tell you before I eventually die..."

Tears swell up in his eyes, and his voices shakes as he speaks. "W - what is it?"

"Honey," Dana weakly says. "I want to thank you for making my life so enjoyable. You and our children are a shining beacon of hope in my life, and I hope that never goes away." She leans in for a kiss, and he kisses her back. There's a slight taste of blood in Baezel's mouth after that kiss. Her final words are, "I love you all. Raise hell." before she breathes her last breath. She turns over, and closes her eyes. Dana has died in her husband's arms.

Baezel looks at his dead wife with shock and teary eyes. He had seen death and destruction before, and at one point, caused it himself, but this death was different. This death was personal. It affected his psyche differently from all the deaths that he had witnessed so far. Learning of Planet Vegeta's fate, killing Pepkorn at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, not even the death of Gangal, as regretful as it was, came close to this. This was an innocent person, a woman that he had known for well over twenty five years. She was there for him when he needed her support the most. She was a woman without flaws, a woman that had done nothing wrong. She never harmed anybody, and most of all, she remained faithful to both Baezel and to her god for her entire life, until the very end.

He felt a slew of emotions, just like when Baezel Yami shot Dana in the theme park, but these emotions were stronger. He wanted to scream, cry, yell, and do so many things to express his emotions. But he held himself back. He went downstairs to the living room, forcing back the tears. He doesn't bother telling them what happened, instead telling them to forget about it.

"What happened up there, dude?" Radichio asks him.

"She died in my arms," Baezel says, with his voice .

"Oh. I'm, uh...sorry for your loss. You have my sympathy."

"I'm sorry," Parakress chimed in.

"This wasn't your fault," Draft replied.

"Well...we have almost a day to do anything, so I suggest that we spend that day in the Room of Spirit and Time. We could get a year's worth of training done in a day," Baezel suggests.

"You really think another year of training will let us close the power gap? Because right now, it's less a gap, and is more like a vast chasm," Lemogras asks.

"Well, it was your idea, wasn't it?"

"Yeah," Lemogras says.

"I guess you have a point."

Baezel says, "Alright, we'll go to the Room of Spirit and Time. But first, I need some more time to do some self-reflection."

He heads back upstairs to the attic, and sits down in the old wooden chair. He thinks about everything that's happened with Dana, from the beginning of their relationship.

He remembers well his first time meeting Dana. They were just two little kids when they met. He remembered how innocent they both were. Well, mostly Dana. He remembered how much they both laughed. He remembered how happy they were.

But, as the years went on, his memories of Dana started to slowly fade.

They were eventually rekindled when the two of them met up again as adults, and fell in love with each other. The years passed, and the two of them got married. The pair had two children, Lemogras and Okara.

She was the light of Baezel, Okara and Lemogras's lives, and now she's gone. He thinks about how much he'll miss her. He's not sure if he wants to get used to not having her around or if he wants to use the Dragon Balls to revive her.

He's torn between the two, but ultimately decides to use the Dragon Balls. He goes to the storage room in the basement and finds a large leather pouch. He opens it and, surprisingly, find two of the Dragon Balls.

After a quick hunt to find the Dragon Balls, the team summons Shenlong, and the sky goes dark as he appears.

"I am the Eternal Dragon, Shenlong," he says. "I shall grant you any three wishes that are within my power."

"I wish to restore the life of the one named Dana," Baezel says.

Shenlong's eyes glow. "Your wish has been granted."

In Other World, Dana's soul was floating around in the form of a small cloud, but then, she got her body back and was brought back to life. Her injuries that she had before dying had been healed, and her body was restored to how it was prior to Baezel Yami attacking her. She was then teleported to the bed in which she died, which was...weird. She could feel the blood in her pillow as she was laying down. Back on Earth, Baezel makes another wish. "The next wish is for Dana to be brought back to Earth where I am," Baezel says. Shenlong grants his wish, and Dana is teleported from her bed to Baezel. The two of them embraced each other with a hug and then shared a quick kiss.

"Would you like me to grant one final wish, or is that all for now?" Shenlong asks.

"No, this is enough for me," Baezel replies..

"Very well," Shenlong says. "I shall see you later!"

He disappears, and the seven Dragon Balls rise into the sky and fly across the world, landing in random places before turning to stone. The sky goes back to normal and the Dragon Balls cannot be used again for the next four months.

When the two of them are done with the time that they have, Baezel and the gang decide to go back to the Room of Spirit and Time.

There are 21 hours remaining before he has to go back and fight.
