"Our clan trait is special." Alastor began, his eyes gazing at something Damian couldn't see. "While there are many that can destroy, alter, or tame there are none quite like our own. Rather than an external power that we draw from within, it is an internal power born from our emotions and their intensity. While it was never officially named our ancestors have dubbed it Wrathful Enhancement."
'That is… concerning.' Damian thought to himself, a deep frown marring his face. Powers based on emotions may seem powerful and they most likely were but the issue came from the unpredictability.
These abilities, much like the emotions themselves, were fickle. It wasn't something that could be relied upon in a normal confrontation, especially if it was limited to wrath. While emotions were powerful driving forces Damian believed that they shouldn't be the deciding factor of a battle, especially one where a life was on the line.
"Of course, being angry all the time would be strange. That is why our clan has created methods to draw the most power out of every drop of emotion. Well, it has been altered fairly recently as times changed." Alastor explained, his expression once more serene as a soft chuckle escaped his lips.
"So what do I have to do exactly?" Damian asked, skipping all side questions that could wait for later. While those questions may sate his curiosity it was his trait and its training method that would ultimately alter his future.
"There are actually two methods. Currently, you can only do the first one. It's not particularly hard by any means but it is time consuming." Alastor began, his hands on his chin as he turned his head away from his child to hide his expression.
"What is it?" Damian questioned, eager to start. As a devil, he would theoretically live forever however he knew the 'canon' of this world and the danger it held. Issei Hyoudou was this world's main character in that story and yet he had almost died numerous times and had actually passed away once.
Right now he was taking his time to strengthen his position and grow his power however once he received his Evil Pieces and was allowed to travel the world to find his peerage his slow and peaceful family life would change.
Truthfully, he could just relax in his mansion in the underworld while staying away from the Demonic Beast Invasion done by the Hero Faction and leave the fate of the world in the hands of Rias Gremory and her family.
However, he didn't like that future. Not only was it not certain but he didn't enjoy leaving his future in the hands of others. His main reason, however, was merely because he found it difficult to trust Issei Hyoudou to protect this world.
In the light novel, Issei Hyouduou was a decent man albeit perverted however in the anime that changed drastically. He was a pervert and it was hard to call him likeable by any stretch of the word. Even worse, his personality changed from the English dub and the original Japanese.
It was hard to place all his trust in a man that he didn't know personally let alone one with such a varying personality. However, it would be a lie to say that was his only reason. In truth, Damian found it hard to believe in a world held up by the Oppai Dragon.
It may be peaceful for a while however Issei and his comrades were generally naive. They lived up in the clouds at the pinnacle, how could they possibly be aware of the scheming happening under their feet?
To notice something like that it was necessary to have a certain degree of paranoia, something their group clearly lacked. Vali Lucifer may be aware of it as somebody who did Azazel's dirty work but with his penchant for trouble he found it hard to trust him either.
For that reason, he had little reason but to take up arms himself. Ultimately, he was putting the world in danger because of his own doubts however he didn't particularly care. His future was his own, he wouldn't let it be moved by anyone else if he could help it.
"Well, it's not as impressive as you're imagining." Alastor spoke up, breaking Damian out of his thoughts. "Why don't I just show you?" Alastor offered, a magic circle appearing beneath them once Damian gave a show of affirmation.
Unlike what Damian expected to see, however, it was merely their in home movie theater. Looking toward his father in confusion he was only greeted by his father's golden eyes filled with an unmistakable yet infinitely bewildering amusement.
"We're going to watch movies?" Damian asked in confusion, already somewhat aware of the situation. It wasn't very hard to see the vision his father had for his 'training'. It wasn't a… terrible idea though it was definitely strange.
Movies tended to draw emotions out of people in a safe manner though that didn't mean they were the best option. The Uvall clan's ability to invoke hallucinations through their clan trait Hypnotic Voice would be a much more effective method albeit more expensive.
"Yes! I took the next two weeks off so let's begin your training!" Alastor proclaimed excitedly, pressing a button on the remote that had appeared in his hand at some point to begin a movie of his father's choosing.
'So he just wanted to watch movies with me.' Damian determined with ease, a deadpan on his face that did little to hide the faint smile on his lips. It wasn't a terrible use of his time though even if it was Damian would probably accept it happily.
Just as his father wanted to spend time with him, Damian wanted the same thing. Normally, their interactions were fairly limited due to the astounding amount of work his father had to do each day so when presented with such a rare opportunity there was only one thing he could possibly do.
He would happily watch movies with his father for the next two weeks.
