Chapter 7 - The Roar of the Black Dragon i

As he prepared his meal, Orin thought about the recent attack on the dragon kingdom and the chaos that had ensued.

He had always been fascinated by the dragon culture, but it was clear that their kingdom was in turmoil. The dragon meals he had been served were a reflection of this turmoil.

They were hearty and filling, but lacked the delicate balance of flavors that he was used to. He decided to make a dish that would be more to his liking, something that would remind him of home.

As he cooked, he thought about the different herbs and spices he would use. He carefully measured out each ingredient, ensuring that the flavors were just right.

He added a pinch of salt, a dash of pepper, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. As the meal cooked, the aroma filled the guesthouse, making his mouth water.

Just as he was about to take his first bite, there was a knock on the door. He opened it to find Hiran, the daughter of Puiteh, standing outside.

She was panting and out of breath, but her eyes lit up as she caught the scent of the food.

"I couldn't resist the smell," she said, smiling.

"May I join you for dinner?"

" Oh Please." Orin smile.

Hiran sat and said,

"Thank you, Orin. The smell of your cooking is amazing. I couldn't resist coming to see what it was."

Orin take another plate and serve it to Hiran. As they sat down to eat, Hiran couldn't help but comment on the delicious smell of the food.

"This smells amazing," she said, looking at Orin with a smile.

Orin grinned,

"Thank you, I've learned a few things during my travels. But I must admit, the dragon meals here in the kingdom are a bit too heavy for my taste. They're too fiery for my liking."

Hiran nodded in agreement,

"Yes, I know what you mean. But it's what we dragons are used to. We have a high tolerance for heat."

Orin nodded,

"So, I've heard that you've been on a journey of your own. You were on a trial?"

Hiran's expression grew serious,

"Yes, I was. But when I heard about the attack on the kingdom, I knew I had to come back and help my mother."

"I couldn't just leave my mother to deal with this alone."

Orin nodded,

"I understand. It's not easy to leave your home and your family in times of crisis. She will glad with your help here."

Top of FormAfter they finished their meal, Hiran brought up the reason for her visit.

"I heard about your quest, Orin. I want to offer my help. As a member of dragon clan, I can be of great assistance."

Orin shook his head,

"I appreciate the offer, Hiran, but I must decline. This is my quest, and I must see it through on my own."

"I have my own reasons for accepting this task, and I cannot let anyone else bear the burden."

Hiran looked disappointed but understood Orin's decision.

"I understand, Orin. But if you ever need any help, don't hesitate to come to me. Me and mother will try to assist you as much as we can."

Orin nodded, "Thank you, Hiran. I will keep that in mind."

As Hiran and Orin sat down to eat, they heard a loud bang outside. They quickly got up and rushed to the window to see what was happening.

They were shocked to see the castle was engulfed in flames.

"Is it the demons again?" Hiran asked, fear in her voice.

But Orin shook his head.

"The demons are in terror because of me," he said with a determined look on his face.

They ran outside, and as they got closer to the castle, they saw a massive black dragon rampaging through the streets.

Hiran's heart skipped a beat as she saw a beautiful necklace hanging around the dragon's neck. She recognized it immediately as belonging to her mother, Puiteh.

Puiteh was an elegant dragon with white scales, but now she was a black dragon? What had happened? Hiran couldn't understand it.

Orin was watching silently, and he used his magic to try to calm Puiteh down. He turned to Hiran and shouted,

"Get as many people out of here as you can!"

But Hiran was in shock and couldn't move.

Orin looked at her with a determined expression.

"Leave Puiteh to me. I'll do something and I promise I'll turn her back," he said.

The two clashed in an intense battle, with Orin using his magic to deflect Puiteh's fire blasts and dodge her sharp claws.

But despite her fearsome power, it was clear that Orin was the more skilled and experienced fighter.

He was able to anticipate her every move and easily dodge her attacks, while striking back with powerful spells of his own.

As the fight went on, Orin could see the confusion and pain in Puiteh's eyes. He knew that she was not in control of her actions, and that something had taken hold of her mind.

He also noticed the necklace on her neck, that Hiran had pointed out, and knew that it was the source of her transformation.

"Puiteh, listen to me. You don't have to do this. Something is controlling you. You need to fight it," Orin shouted, as he dodged another one of her blasts.

Puiteh let out a deafening roar, but Orin could see a glimmer of recognition in her eyes. He knew that she was still in there, somewhere.

"Fight it, Puiteh! You are stronger than whatever is trying to control you," Orin urged, as he unleashed a spell that broke the necklace and caused it to fall to the ground

Puiteh let out a deafening roar as she felt the spell take effect, her black scales slowly turning back to their original white hue.

Orin, his clothes singed and his body covered in cuts and bruises, approached her slowly,.

"Puiteh," he said, his voice calm and steady.

"What has happened to you?"

Puiteh looked at him with confusion in her eyes, as if she didn't recognize him.

"Orin," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I don't know. I remember being attacked, and then... nothing. The next thing I knew, I was in this form, and I couldn't control myself."

Hiran, who had been helping the injured people, came running to the scene. "Mother," she said, tears streaming down her face.

"Thank the gods you're okay."

Puiteh looked at her daughter and let out a sigh.

"I'm sorry, Hiran," she said.

"I never meant to put you or anyone else in danger. I don't know what happened to me."

Orin looked at the two of them and said,

"We'll figure out what happened, and we'll fix it. But first, we need to get you both to safety."

Hiran nodded, and the three of them started to make their way out of the castle. As they walked, Orin turned to Hiran and said,

"I know you wanted to help me with my quest, but right now your mother needs you. Stay with her, protect her, and I'll take care of the rest."

Hiran nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.

"I will," she said.

"But know that I'll be here for you when you need me."
