Chapter 10 - One-Eyed Ape

Tang Yin sat on the branch of a 20 feet tall tree. In front of him was a cliff, at the base of the cliff was a dark cave 10 feet tall, and 5 feet wide.

Tang Yin had remained on that branch for 3 days; he was monitoring this cave. So far, he had discovered that this dark cave belonged to a large One-Eyed ape. From his day's long investigation, he had determined this large ape was alone.

The large One-Eyed ape would occasionally leave the cave to find prey to feast on. From the blatant aura radiating off this ape, Tang Yin had determined it was a Low Tier, Rank 1 Demonic Beast, with strength equivalent to his own at the 3rd stage of Spirit Channelling Realm.

After discovering that the ape resided in the cave alone, Tang Yin decided that this ape would be his first ever Demonic Beast kill.

Tang Yin waited, currently it was night-time, and the large One-Eyed ape had just returned to the cave with a wolf in its grasp. From a glance, he could tell that the wolf had a broken neck, clearly conveying the ape's strength.

30 minutes had passed since the One-Eyed ape entered the cave; Tang Yin had decided to make his move. He jumped down the tree in a silent manner, then he carefully treaded to the opening of the cave without making a sound.

He did not go inside the cave, it was dark inside the cave. If he went inside, he would be blinded and at a severe disadvantage against the One-Eyed ape. He crouched to the left of the opening of the cave.

'Abyssal Sword' Tang Yin called out in his head. Simultaneously, the Heaven Devouring Abyss Martial Spirit inside of his body extended part of its power towards his right hand.

A black blade shining with a metallic glimmer gradually took form. This blade was completely black, at the intersection between the hilt and blade was a dark red gem. The hilt of the sword was also covered in twisting black and red leather; however, the red was very dark and blended in with the color of the night.

This was the Martial Skill Tang Yin had obtained from the Heaven Devouring Abyssal Sanskrit after he reached the 3rd stage of the Spirit Channelling Realm. He could also obtain another Martial Skill once he arrived at the 7th stage of the Spirit Channelling Realm.

Tang Yin wanted to wait until morning for the one-eyed ape to come out of its cave, so he could ambush it with his Abyssal Sword and kill it in one fell swoop.

The darkness faded, the sun ascended, and morning arrived. Tang Yin was on high alert constantly looking at his surroundings while keeping a close eye on the entrance of the cave for any sign of the large One-Eyed ape's exit. The sword in his hand shone with a dark glint, it looked exquisitely sharp.

An hour passed.

Tang Yin heard faint rumblings from the cave, he knew the One-Eyed ape was about to exit at any second. He paid full attention towards the entrance of the cave, not even a fly could escape his notice.

The rumblings of footsteps got louder and closer, Tang Yin tightly gripped the Abyssal Sword ready to ambush the large One-Eyed ape.

'It's here', the ape finally appeared after a long night's wait. The instant the ape appeared; Tang Yin dashed forward at an almost superhuman speed while he slashed the Abyssal Sword in hand towards the One-Eyed ape's neck. He was aiming for a clean and quick decapitation.

Swish, the sound of a sword slicing through flesh resounded in Tang Yin's ears. Thump, a small bang resounded as if something had hit the floor. Tang Yin quickly moved backwards.

What appeared in his sight left him disappointed, the One-Eyed ape was still standing. However, its right arm lay on the floor. The One-Eyed ape was, after all, a Low Tier Rank 1 Demonic Beast, it was not so easy to kill. The ape had swung its arm in the way of the Abyssal Sword to prevent itself from being beheaded at the last second.

The One-Eyed ape let out a shrill roar of pain, it immediately locked its gaze on Tang Yin. The ape's eyes shone with a murderous red light, without hesitation it charged at Tang Yin.

Tang Yin looked at the ape and killing intent flashed inside his eyes, he also charged towards the One-Eyed ape. Just as both human and beast were about to crash into each other, Tang Yin propelled himself to the left of the ape.

As he dodged the One-Eyed ape, he simultaneously slashed at its torso. The side of the ape Tang Yin dodged toward was the one with a missing arm, the ape had no way to counterattack Tang Yin.

The Abyssal Blade ripped open the One-Eyed ape's stomach, the ape howled in pain while falling to its knees, but it wasn't dead yet. Tang Yin slowly walked towards the One-Eyed ape as he watched it struggle to its feet. The ape's stomach was completely exposed, and its rib cage and internal organs were spilling out in a mad rush.

The One-Eyed ape had only taken a few steps before it gave in and dropped dead right at Tang Yin's feet.

Tang Yin had killed his first Demonic Beast.
