Why was he walking towards the stranger? Kai thought.
Did he know her?
Feeling a bit out of place, Kai walked in the direction Zeke was walking in but didn't get too close.
He could audibly hear their conversation from where he stood.
As the interaction between the lady and Zeke progressed, Kai's confusion grew.
She worked at Del Loona from what he could hear.
He heard Zeke call out her name "Bentlee"
Bentley? A car? He thought.
Kai knew Zeke was a smooth talker when he wanted and was able to sweep any lady off her feet. He just wasn't interested in doing so most of the time.
He hadn't tried to charm any lady in recent times and Kai was afraid Zeke had lost his touch.
However, hearing and watching the interaction between his boss and the lady made him change his mind.
Up close, he noticed that the lady was pretty.
Very pretty actually.
She had striking features.
Kai noticed how smoothly his friend flowed and how easily he conversed with her.
Zeke had been acting like he was allergic to women for a while and here he was now, being.... charming?
Wow, was all Kai could think.
Listening in, heard Zeke talk about eating.....
Wait a minute, we're here for business! he thought
And when the lady walked off, he watched Zeke literally hurriedly follow her.
Kai's eyes bulged out of their sockets.
Never would he have thought that his boss would abandon important business for a lady.
He couldn't protest as they were out of earshot so he sighed and took out his phone to call the CEO of Del Loona Experience.
After the brief phone call, Kai had successfully cancelled the meeting due to an "unexpected situation".
Placing his phone back in his pocket, Kai wondered about something.
The lady looked oddly familiar. It was like he had seen her before today.
This was odd for Kai, he had an extremely sharp memory and could normally remember little details that others wouldn't remember.
He started walking in the direction of the parking lot whilst still pondering and trying to remember.
He was in the car, on the she'll when it suddenly hit him.
The lady that thought he was a taxi driver...
No wonder she seemed a bit familiar.
He started the engine and left the lot quickly.
He had no other plans today and decided to stick with Zeke.
He watched as Zeke got into a taxi with the lady.
His face expressed confusion and he cocked his head to the side.
Zeke could've just told him to take them wherever they were going.
Or perhaps, did she not know who he was?
That would explain his obvious leading her away from the company.
Kai shrugged and followed the taxi, stopping in front of a pastry shop.
Kai sat in the car and watched how Zeke opened the door of the shop for the lady in a gentlemanly manner.
They walked in looking every bit the part of a couple.
Kai's stomach grumbled slightly so he left the car to enter the pastry shop.
The place smelled amazing, a mixture of freshly baked cakes, cookies, muffins, bread rolls, cinnamon rolls...they had it all.
His eyes scanned the room and quickly found where Zeke and the lady sat.
The lady said something to Zeke and he.... Laughed, out loud.....
Kai watched in amazement. When was the last time he saw Zeke being carefree around someone that wasn't him or family. Oh right, never. It had never happened before.
Wow.....
Kai found a place to sit when the server was looking at him weirdly as he watched the couple.
He ordered cinnamon rolls, and while he waited, he kept watching them.
...
Bentlee's POV
Ohhhh my goodness, the taste of bread rolls.
The first bite I took of the freshly baked bread rolls was exquisite.
It was amazing.
I took one bite after another, happiness enveloping me.
Wait, why was I so happy?
Oh right, the bread rolls tasted divine.
Mmmmm.... I would've never thought this place was that good before today.
Thanks to... Z-
What? I didn't come here alone?
I looked up from my plate and met dark eyes staring at me intently.
Unknown to me, my face was slightly flushed by the realization that he had been watching me gobble down the bread rolls, one after the other.
"W-what?" I cleared my throat.
He shrugged and leaned into his chair, "you have a good appetite"
"I like that" he added just about to start on his muffins.
My face reddened and I looked away.
He was staring again, as if aware that I was flustered.
Was he... doing it intentionally?
I gasped at the realization.
Taking a big bite of my bread rolls, I watched him raise his eyebrow in question.
"Well your stares aren't going to fill up my stomach so, stare away mister" I said Taking another bite.
He laughed and nodded, eating his muffins....while staring!!!!
.....
Unknown to Zeke, Bentlee was a stress eater.
She ate when she was stressed, overwhelmed, flushed, tired, confused, etc.
It was a marvel how she managed to remain the same size even after all this time.
And right now, she was flushed.
Calling the attention of the server, Bentlee ordered savoury buns, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and more bread rolls.
Zeke was amused, he didn't feel like eating any longer.
All he wanted to do was watch her eat.
She smiled ever so brightly when the server brought her order.
Zeke watched her rub her hands together with child-like excitement.
He smiled at her enthusiasm to eat.
She finally made a decision of what to start with and took up a cupcake.
She was about to take a bite when she heard her name from a distance.
"Bentlee!!!!!"
