Milas was staring at his reflection as he stood there in his uniform. He felt incomplete since his weapons were confiscated. His shoulder long hair was as silky as usual despite not taking care of it. Milas was nervous for his meeting with the principal. He was going to be interrogated about something he barely remembers.
There was a single knock before the door was opened. Step was already walking into the room while Asher stood there awkwardly with his hand raised ready to knock. It had only been a day since Milas woke up and he was now fully recovered. No words were said as the trio left the dorms. It was dark out and moonlight was struggling to pierce the cloud cover. Lights powered by beast crystals lit up the compound with a dim light.
Asher and Step accompanied Milas to the entrance of the administration building and left him there. Taking a deep breath Milas pushed the door open and headed to the secretary seating behind a desk. He was about to speak but the secretary was faster.
"Take the stairs over there and go straight to the top. The principals personal secretary will show you where to go." The secretary said with her eyes glued to a palm sized book. Milas followed the instructions and was soon standing before another secretary. This one was writing something and Milas had to call her twice before she responded.
"Hi, you must be here for the trial. Just go through that door. Everyone else is already inside." This secretary seemed nicer than the other but she was also busier than the other. Milas took a deep breath to calm his nerves and opened the door. He hadn't even stepped in when a strong killing intent locked onto him. He froze for a few seconds before staring directly into the glowing green eyes of middle aged man.
The man was surprised that the boy resisted the pressure he was applying but it instantly turned to rage. He increased the pressure as his eyes glowed brighter but the infuriating teenager kept staring back at him. His anger was close to exploding when something hit the boys shoulder and pinned him to the wall.
Milas was already pissed that some stranger was aiming their murderous intent at him and the attack made it worse. He wanted to stare down his attacker but his anger vanished when he saw the person's face. Even the pain from his shoulder that was pinned to the wall became non-existent. Deogratius was sitting on one of the fancy chairs in the room while looking at Milas who had shock and fear written on his face.
"With that out of the way, let's start the trial." The principal said and everyone settled down. The item that pinned Milas to the wall disappeared and he started healing. "Milas, step forward so that we can sort this out and leave since everyone here has things to do."
Milas walked forward and stopped in front of a group of vampires. There were seven people sitting behind a long, crescent shaped desk. The principal was in the middle with Deogratius on his left and the man with green eyes on his right. The others were just looking at him curiously while a few were completely indifferent. It didn't seem like the trial mattered and it was more of a boring chore to them with Deogratius being one of these people.
"Ian step forward and stand next to Milas so that this can be easier." Milas was wondering who the principal was talking to when a familiar person came from the corner of the room. Milas' nails threatened to pierce his palm as he balled his fists. The person was one of the two that attacked him but Milas couldn't attempt anything with Deogratius in the room. He was more scared of his master than anyone else even though he had seen the principal using his power during the admission test.
"I will ask the questions and we will make a decision based on what we learn. I'll start with Milas since he is the main suspect." The principal said and stared into Milas' eyes as his eyes glowed red. Milas knew that he was using the charm skill but he had no way to resist. He blinked and saw that everyone had a strange expression.
"So he accidentally triggered it, interesting. It's a surprise he didn't go on rampage but I think that the poison is the cause of that. Now we know that he acted in self-defense and wasn't aware of his actions but that means that Ian has some questions to answer." Milas didn't understand a word of what the principal was saying. He noticed that everyone was now focused on Ian but the killing intent from the green eyed man didn't disappear.
The principal's eyes glowed red as he looked at Ian. Ian tried to resist the charm skill as veins bulged on his forehead but it was all for naught. His eyes became unfocused and his hands looked limp. He stared blankly into space as the principal started talking.
"Ian tell us exactly what happened on the day that Zack died." The principal said and his eyes flashed a brighter red.
"Zack and I had been ordered to teach Milas a lesson by beating him up and breaking a few ribs. We would usually hold back when the person we're ordered to beat up is weaker but he fought back harder than expected. He stabbed Zack and I panicked so I stabbed him in the back. Zack was also angry and he stabbed him with his poisonous blood. We realized that we had overdone it when he fell to the ground and stopped moving.
Zack and I were panicking and arguing on what to do when he suddenly pounced on me. He attacked me with his claws and managed to hit me in the head before Zack pulled him off me. I was drifting in and out of consciousness but I saw he grabbed Zack's head and used his other hand to cut his head off. Zack's blood sprayed on him and he started to stumble and eventually fall. I wanted to run away but I couldn't move and eventually passed out too." Ian broke out of his daze and looked to be confused.
Milas realized that something similar must have happened to him. The adults were discussing in whispers so low that Milas' sensitive ears could only hear it as faint breathing. They talked for a while as the two teenagers waited nervously for the final decision. The adults turned towards them and the principal was the one to speak.
"After listening to both sides of the case, we've decided that Milas is to be free of any punishment. This is because he was protecting himself and he was not in control when the actual murder happened. We won't hold the loss of control against him since the deceased was the one who caused it in the first place.
"As for you Ian, you have been found guilty of attacking a fellow student and attempting to kill him. Due to the fact that your accomplice is deceased you will bare full responsibility for your deeds and their results. Your punishment will be decided in three days. You will be locked in your room now till your punishment is decided.
"The trial is officially over and Milas is allowed to return to his classes. You may leave." The principal finished giving the verdict and Milas left the room. In the hallway with the secretary, Milas resisted the urge to run away as he didn't want to risk meeting Deogratius. He finally left the administration building and broke into a full sprint towards the dorms. He rushed into his room and locked the door behind him before leaning on it and breathing a sigh of relief.
"Looks like your speed hasn't improved much." Milas' eyes shot open and he saw Deogratius sitting casually on his bed.
