Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - A Call to Arms

Seeing the Kings castle was a true sight to behold, I almost couldn't believe it. In the end, it turns out the king was in the city's second ring. He was giving a speech to Oroton's Aristocracy. This made it easier for the group to give the king their report, it also resulted in the king learning about the rainbow light show from the church. Plus, in their report. The group had mentioned me and how I helped them in the woods the other day. With that, and the news of my strong magic spreading like wild fire. The king wanted to ask me personally, to aid in the war. The group had already told the king that I already asked to help.

However, the king still felt it was necessary. If for no other reason than just politeness. In the end, the king spoke to me along for a second. He told me to be careful, in recent times. Oroton has become extremely dangerous. It may seem calm on the surface, but recent times had shown signs of discourse on the horizon. The king who I later found out, his name is king Elio Zarin. He told me how a little while ago. He was forced to stop an uprising from some of the nobility. Apparently, the rich nobility were getting tired of their king favoring the common man. In the end, the nobles tried to capture the king and sell him off to the demons.

Thankfully, the Knights were able to protect him and prevent anything from happening. The whole incident left king Zarin feeling rather uneasy. But, when the king found out about the magic I possess. He knew that it was a sign, a sign that the era of demons was finally coming to an end. After learning more about the world's situation, the king officially inducted me into the hero's party. And, since I had no history in it. King Zarin assigned Kenith to teach me magic and get me caught up on everything in the next three months. Normally, I would be excited. You think I would be, especially when you really know me. After all, I've literally been dreaming about it my whole freaking life.

I've spent my whole life as a nerd, so naturally. I grew up on sci fi, fantasy, video games, movies. A whole myriad of things, however. That didn't stop me from being hella nervous about my training. Thanks to my experience with dungeons and dragons, I had no doubt that I would excel in magic. But, in spite of what I managed to do before. I was scared shitless when it came to the physical side of things. After all, before all this. I wasn't particularly strong in the universe I came from, and aside from that. All the things I use to think we're fantasy are now a reality, and no longer in the realm of fiction.

Because of that, it means that there are a lot more stakes. People can and will die for real. Even though I'm already aware of the evil that lies in the multiverse, truth be told. When the time comes, I'm not sure that I'll be strong enough to fight the evil. Plus, even if they deserve it. Even I don't know if I'll be capable of taking someone's life. Goblins and monsters are one thing, but even demons have intelligence as well as awareness. On top of that, despite what happened with the goblins. I don't know if I can take on this demonic general that were suppose to fight.

In that moment, I became heavily discouraged to aid in this war. But then, I remembered how shocked everyone was. When they witnessed me defeating those goblins in the forest, as well as finding out about my strong magic. Not only do I not want to let everyone down, but throughout this whole experience. I know I won't be alone, and there's nothing wrong with asking for help when you need it. After I managed to break out of the depressive spiral I was experiencing, I began to feel like I had a renewed sense of confidence.

For the next three months, Kenith began to teach me everything he knew regarding flame magic. Thanks to my life as a nerd, it wasn't long before I managed to get the hang of it. Along the way, several others also aided in my training. King Zarin had the commander of his Knights teach me more about swordsmanship, since I still wasn't all that good. Clay even taught me everything he could regarding earth magic. Managing to even show and teach me his trump card. Within the first month and a half.

I got a better handle on swordsmanship, and gained a full grasp on fire and earth magic. After that, I focused on wind and water magic. Azure taught me what little she could with wind magic, while the Kings court sorcerer taught me water. After all was said and done, I mastered both in just about two weeks. At this point, I began to feel pretty confident with the rate I was going at. The whole experience was all around astonishing to me, and I even surprised myself at one point. The training was hard, and by the last month.

Things got slightly more challenging, and I was forced to speed things up. In the last month of my training, I began to focus on light and dark magic. However, there were some complications. Not only are light and dark magic the two hardest magics to learn. But finding a teacher is even harder due to the rarity of the affinity. Thankfully, Graziella had an affinity for dark magic. Sadly, she wasn't able to teach me much since she had experienced a similar teacher problem when she first began learning. Last but certainly not least, was light magic.

By this point in my training, we were running short on time and couldn't find anyone. Thankfully, it turned out that king Zarin actually used light magic. Due to his old age and lack of practice in a long time. The king wasn't able to show me much, at this point. It didn't really bother me, the day of battle was fast approaching. Despite not being able to find a proper teacher, I did my best with what little I could learn from the king. And eventually, I managed to get the hang of it. With that, my training soon came to a close.

I managed to learn whatever magic I could, and I improved with a sword. The day before we set off for our fight, a meeting was held to discuss a plan of attack. Not only that, Kenith along with several others. Filled me in on some details about the Demon King and his generals. Aside from being evil and generally causing massive chaos. The demon king, also known as the ruler of pride. Has his generals run various rackets as a means of corrupting humanity and gaining humans as subordinates.

First, we had the demon of greed. He was better known as Curasta. He was in charge of the demon kings loan sharking scams. Second, we have the demon of lust Lenodus. He runs brothels as well as an under ground slave trafficking ring. Even though slavery was outlawed in this world, there are many that sadly still believed in its practice. Third, the demon of envy Ilmar. She runs a black market ring of assassins for hire, willing to kill anyone as long as the price was high enough. Fourth, was the demon of gluttony Gulradith. She ran an underground spy network that was tasked with gathering and selling information.

Fifth, is the demon of sloth Delra. She's in charge of a secret network of thieves. Tasked with stealing valuables and reselling them at exorbitant prices. And lastly, we have the demon of wrath Iradon. He was in charge of a mercenary Corp that would take jobs that people with morals wouldn't take. Iradon was the general that me, Clay, Kenith, Graziella, Azure, and many others would be facing in battle. The plan was simple, us along with many others. Will take down the generals while the hero goes for their king.

Once the generals fall, demon king Saeros' power will be no more. And the world will finally be at peace once more. I know this fight will not be an easy one, but the world needs this. Furthermore, I can't stand by and just let people suffer. The wrath demon is well known for his intense strength and extremely short temper. With that, me and the others in the meeting decided that we would be using that to our advantage. Once that was decide, the meeting concluded. Afterwards, we were told to get some rest and prepare for battle.

The next day, we began our March from the capital to Iradons castle. Me and my companions, along with over one thousand of the Kings best Knights. We began our long and perilous journey by heading south toward SpringWeed Village. Once we got past the village, we headed a bit further south so we could avoid Reverse Forest. After successfully avoiding the forest, we then headed southwest through the Hydrosphere jungle region. Thankfully, we crossed through a portion of the jungle that didn't have acid rain. Eventually, we made it to the Emanon jungle region. Home of Iradons massive castle and fortress.

After three long weeks, we made it to the top of a hill. And atop this hill, in the distance. We finally had Iradons castle in our line of sight, there was no turning back now. Once some healing stations, food stations, and catapults were set up. Clay turned to everyone, raised his sword, and began addressing everyone. "Listen up! The battle ahead will not be an easy one, our foe that we face today is a formidable one. However, we have the element of surprise! But most importantly, we have love for humanity!

We have love for our city!

And, we have love for our country!" By this point, everyone began to raise their weapons in the air. "Let's not have our many fallen companions sacrifices be in vain! Let's go out there and show these vile demons what happens when you mess with Primorians!" After that, all the Knights erupted in cheers and headed for their posts. Some earth and fire magic Knights would be manning the catapults. The plan is to have them launch flaming boulders at Iradons castle. This will get his attention while simultaneously distracting him.

While that happens, everyone else is gonna charge straight for the castle. We got into position, and thusly. The Knights began sending the flaming boulders at the castle, signaling the main force to charge. Our army made its way down the hill and onto the battlefield that laid before the castle. During this time, various stereotypical looking demons began to emerge from the castle. They began ripping through most of the Knights in our army, and slowly but surely. The Knights went down, but some managed to take down some of the demons in the process. And soon, a large and bulky demon wearing knight armor and wielding two great swords made his way outside. After seeing this, I knew that this meant only one thing.

This was the infamous Iradon, one of the strongest and cruelest of the demon generals. I had heard that he was an imposing figure, but seeing him up close was way different from just hearing about him in rumors. I couldn't see his face due to his helmet, but I knew for a fact that he wasn't happy about this. As evident by the smoke that slowly came out of his helmet. It didn't matter, the only thing that did matter. Was putting an end to his life, and restoring peace to the world. If that meant possibly sacrificing my own life for the rest of the world, then so be it. One way or another, this demon was going back to where it came from.
